i'm down in brampton, but my cabin is up in burks falls.

 

i always did love honda's yellow on that car, not fond of it on the other ones though

Actually went through Orillia, up to Gravenhurt to Port Carling and around to Bracebridge. We went hiking at multiple trails there and the Cranberry farm. It was a bit chilly this time of year and kinda scary to drive on the roads with bad summer tires on, but really beautiful.

Also a video I took of the roads out in Muskoka, they were horribly bumpy, uneven and rough as well as it being 0c with really bad tyres (I suspect they were too low PSI too) made it rather sketchy and I just didn't push the car at all. The footage is from my dashcam, hence the beeps each time it thinks we had an accident (the bumps were that bad).

 

Also at 1:57 you can hear the car bottom out. And at 3:20 you can hear the clutch delay valve, 22lb flywheel and the clutch starting to die cause an effect on shifting:

Oh yeah in hindsight, thing is I had never driven on those roads before and I was never sure if coming up over blind hills or corners if there would be wildlife (had to do a few emergency stops during this trip for deer, squirrels, chipmunks, etc), massive potholes or people in the roads (very popular hiking spot). So I didn't want to go too quick or anything.

can only imagine what a small turbo would do for low rpm driveability of that car just something that gives you power through to about 5000 ish, then let vtec carry it.

 

i know 5 PSI makes my 2.7L V6 an angry little monster off the line, but it also tops out at 6500

It's why the most popular boost application is to supercharge it actually, that plus it is a lot less complex than turbos. I don't want to do that though, it's plenty fast enough for me as is and I want to keep it OEM+ really.

Car is finally out of hibernation! Also put on a new AEM filter (dry flow) vs the KN one (oiled). Apart from the red matching the valve cover better (which I still need to refinish) it's nice to not have oil slowly coating the inside of my intake.

Set up my radio (loses all the settings in hibernation), it's nice having it the same color as my cluster. Also took the chance to check the oil, clean all the aluminium bits around the car with some flitz (door locks, ac lines, abs unit, etc)

Shifter rebuilt, replaced all the plastics and rubbers around/in it too and even more Honda urea grease slapped on (after the old one got removed). Also slapped on some Shin Etsu grease on any rubber bits and plastic clips in the center console and engine bay. All the rubber hoses and wiring got a nice coating of it.

Also replaced the front bumper black inner trim and rubber and put on some (Spoon lol) front radiator stays because why not, the original one was looking a bit tired. Got to clean out a bunch of sand from under it too.

you should go looking for a skunk2 intake header for that engine, its ported and allows it to breathe more freely than the stock one, a friend of mine had one on his back before he sold it to someone down in california it let the engine breathe much better high up in RPMs and pull a bit better down low.

That does look interesting but to be honest for now I'm going to leave what I have (apart from replacing the bushings/mounts in the future). I want to take the current setup I have to the track (Toronto Motorsports Park) and get comfortable with it before deciding what mods to do in the future. I have a feeling it might be better brakes rather than more power though.

Gave the S2000 a proper wash and wax today, it does need a cut/polish and ceramic coating in the future... the paint might look good but it's getting a bit rough.

as far as power goes it really doesnt do that, it more just takes away air restriction and sharp corners to increase air speed into the intake. youll maybe make 10-15HP more, its more of a driveability mod.

 

but i do agree, better brakes before making an engine do anything better is probably a good idea, i recently put drilled rotors on the sebring for the same reason, i was making some toasty brakes slowing down to dive corners on winding roads, after about an hour or so i knew what to do.

Found the source of my very small coolant leak, it was a busted overflow res cap. Replaced that as well as all the other bits around it the past weekend. Sadly the bottle itself was on back-order until August so just tried to give it a clean with the pressure washer but this stuff was baked on there. Shouldn't really matter IMO.

Also gave it a wash and guess I warmed up the tyres enough to leave slight marks on the concrete lol.

You can also see my headlight clear coat starting to peel if you look closely... need to replace them with OEM units before it gets much worse. (Also those meaty front tyres).

So on our trip to IKEA yesterday after around 20-30 mins trip I noticed the car was being a bit odd, but given how utterly terrible the conditions of the roads are it's hard to diagnose if it's the road being awful or if something is amiss with the car so we continued on. However, a few minutes later when we pulled onto some decent pavement I definitely thought something was amiss, the FL tyre felt different and acceleration was noticeably slower and the brake pedal getting firmer. Then the brake burning smell hit us and I saw a slight wiff of smoke. I pulled over and found out my FL brake was ever so slightly stuck and the pad was starting to overheat. The wheel/tire was very hot but not too hot (around 60c or so, I could touch it for less than 1 second but it didn't burn me).

 

I managed to take the car back to my mechanic (around 30mins away) with frequent stops to cool down the brakes, luckily no real damage was done and I ended up getting new front calipers for within 2 hours. I kept the pads/rotors on and they don't seem warped or damaged. I'm glad I ended up getting some Hawk HP+ pads and DOT5.1 fluid that could handle the extra heat.

Have you changed your brake hoses?  Recently I had a brake caliper that would stick sometimes, so I replaced my calipers along with rotors and pads and since I had to bleed the system anyway...I replaced all the fluid.   Next day, the same wheel locked up so tight the wheel was smoking like it may have been on fire.  The lug nuts were so hot I couldn't touch them.  My shiny new rotor was now purple.  

 

It was a bad brake hose.  It looks good from the outside but the inside swells up restricting flow which causes the caliper to not release.
