pretty bad day for the stock market with this being a big part of the cause, though political tension in the US is also a major factor.

all jokes aside what do you expect with how many people live in that country. i dont think theres a power grid large enough to support china.

Yeah no doubt when it comes to semi-conductor market.

 

For other things, people love their cheap "Made in China" stuff.

Not sure China should be motivated to create the Dyson Swarm.  This sector of the galaxy could go dark forever, much like NK has.

I wholeheartedly believe we'll have a Made In USA renaissance over the next decade, if not two or three.  People are waking up to realize that cheap stuff that doesn't last isn't good for much other than waste, in the end. 

 

With all there is to efficiency and robust systems to keep the world running, you'd think we'd be more inclined to limitations and efficiency than we are - but we do the opposite and waste so much.  We all pretty much  take for granted the resources we use (at macro and micro levels).

Definitely this. 

 

I also echo that countries need to being manufacturing home. Aside from economy advantages it removes the dependency on other nations. I love collaboration and trade but as time has gone by I think we have let the scales tip the other way too much.

Oh yes, them scales been tipping hard for a while.  I can't wait to see chip manufacturing back in the states at a much, much greater level than there is today.  I hope anti-trust laws are tapped (yet again!) so that giant corps don't leech all the bloody opportunity for little corps to create new business.

Yeah. I would love for the same here in the UK and agree that we need to see some more grass roots level chip technologies and products. That is where most innovation stems from.

I agree that long-term this has to happen. Shorter term, people are not going to want to spend more money especially these days where $$$ doesn't go as far and many are out of work given the last year+. Housing becoming unaffordable, etc.

 

Anyway, I do agree, but it won't be a quick turn of events to get there.
