QDC Flow Direction

Which way is best for QDC's. Water flowing from a male to a female or the other way around, or does it even matter?

 

I'm interested before I switch from QDC3's to QDC4's. With 6 D5's at 25% I get 0.5GPM, running them at max is only 1.2GPM and dumps way to much heat to be worth it. I'm hoping for a drastic increase upgrading to QDC4's but not expecting much since I'm running 90's off every pump inlet/outlet which that alone is my main issue.

I don't believe orientation matters. I did read a statistical article recently about the flow perf of QDC3 and QDC4, though I can't recall the actual source. The flow improvement from 3-4 is 2x lower at 3.5GPM. If I didn't already have $750 worth of QDC3's I would be all over the 4's.

I ordered a Leakshild from them back in September and got it last month. I spoke to Aquacompter about their stock issues and they said it was down to a acquiring components. 

 

I manage to the MPS 400 a few weeks ago from aquatuninguk (based in Germany) I think they have a few left in stock. 

Possibly replied to the wrong thread ?

Coming from a mobile hydraulics background, any QD's that aren't bi-directional would be utterly useless. We use larger versions of these all over agricultural and industrial equipment .

Tangential, but I thought it might be mildly interesting.  Here are a pair of mobile hydraulic QD's.

 

These would be okay for circuits up to about 10gpm.  Their rated working pressure is 4350psi with a burst pressure of 7000psi (female) and 17,000psi (male).  The pressure drop across the union at 13.25gpm would be about 150psi.  Most circuits (loops) would be using 2 pairs of these, so that 150psi pressure drop x 2 would equate to a about 1762W (about 2.25hp) of power being wasted (mostly as heat either radiated away by the couplers themselves or transferred by the oil to an oil cooler).
