How to Post News Here on EHW

Quick general guide for news posts:

 

General Rules:

Anyone forum members can post news here, not just staff, and anything relevant to tech can be posted here so feel free to post anything you find interesting that you want to share/discuss with other tech-oriented people. In general, the only thing not allowed is political news unless it's highly related to tech. All news articles must come from a source and the source needs to be posted somewhere in the post. Add your source tag to the post by clicking "choose" right under the title bar. If your tag doesn't show up, click "add tags" instead. 

 

 

Format:

Typically, a news posts is a quote from a news article and a link to the source but can also include relevant images and videos (if any).

 

Title:

The title should match the title from the source article, but it is OK to change/shorten it when the title has more words than it needs, or if the title is worded as click-bait. Any changes to the title should always be direct and unbiased. 

 

Sources:

In general, anything can be a valid source as long as the info it's presenting is relevant and legitimate. YouTube can be used as a valid source but only if the video is covering something tangible and real in the tech news world. Things like Digital foundry videos, game trailers, or press release videos are all fine but things like video podcasts or anything subjective/opinion oriented would not be a good source. If a YouTube video is covering something that can be found in text article format instead, that should be used as a source before YouTube but if no other source exists YouTube is OK only when the substance of the topic is strong. Weak filler click-bait style infotainment videos are not a valid news source. 

 

 

That's pretty much it. Just a few simple rules and guidelines to follow.
