Now, we’re seeing the first signs of life: the first USB-C 2.1 cables have broken cover with up to 240W of power and up to 40Gbps of data. They’re from a Dutch manufacturer named Club3D (via Tom’s Hardware) that doesn’t sell cables on its website, and they don’t yet seem to be in stock at retailers yet either.

Now we just need... everything else.

Soon we will be able to charge gaming laptop with type C such a good new!

I know I'm living in the past, but they don't look like "240W" cables to me.  If they operated on a 12V system, they would need to carry 20 amps to hit that power rating.  They just look "dainty" to me for that kind of amperage 🤷‍♂️.

I agree, from what I could make out, they're getting the figure from 4 x 12v lines at 5 amp each in that cable. That seems like alot of heat build up in the cable.

I was thinking the same thing. Thick gauge will work. But how the small connector at the end gonna handle that when my car lighter plug melt when i pull 200w...

Folding farm hum to replace 4/6/8 pin connector would be awesome!

Could use it with gpu's and displays. So you can power a high end display off a gpu. 🙂

That would be great one less cable. 😀
