need Heatsink recommendations

My old H115i seems to have an issue. Pump is giving a good RPM reading but temps are really high and get high very fast under load. Rad is cool to the touch. Think something must be wrong with it. Recommendations for a replacement? I'm not up on the AIO game. 

 

I think the cooler I have now is the largest size my case can fit.

Running a cheap 100$ Cad 360mm Aio and am impressed. Check on amazon the cheapest you can get of the size that fit your case and try to find some review about it.

 

There so many brand now of Aio it crazy. Corsair are super overpriced.  

 

The arctic liquid Freezer are my favorite but i never tried them.

Do you need an AIO or a heatsink? If you need a heatsink, what component do you need it for?

What temps are you seeing @UltraMega and at what voltages?  We have very similar systems.  Maybe its not the AIO itself?  Yours is a 280mm, I'm on a 240mm.  My temps skyrocket near immediately, but they tend to even out around 75*C or so at around 1.20v using PBO (Cinebench full load).  PBO is boosting me to 4.6GHz all cores, and around 5.1GHz single core.  I do have a -50mV offset set for vcore though too, otherwise mine gets right up to the thermal throttle limitations at stock settings.  Make sure you're looking at the actual "CPU Temp" too, and not Diode or Package.  Those are both GOING to get considerably hotter and there's nothing you can do about it that I know of.  Diode + Package are "safe" up to 95*C according to AMD's specs IIRC.  They have a blanket statement of 90*C max safe temps right on the specs page.  "CPU Temp" is what you see in the BIOS too.

I am running a "tweaked" PBO though.  PBO Enabled, +200MHz Offset, Auto everything else in PBO settings.  And again the -50mV offset voltage for vcore (1.25 down to 1.20v).  If I go to -75mV offset I boost to 4.75GHz / 4.8GHz all core, but benchmarks seem to score considerably less, so I figure its not stable that high with that low of voltage....which makes sense.  1:1 IF Clock and Memory too, that's important.

I've heard lots of rumors of, I think its concave IHS's on the Ryzen 5000 series?  Maybe others can confirm?  My CPU definitely isn't flat at all, you can tell when you take your cooler off and look at the way the grease squishes.

Well my 5900X gets hot even under a custom loop (compared to any of my older systems), so depending on what temps you average out (not just what it spikes to), may be completely normal for Zen 3. 5800X is going to run hotter than a 5600X and potentially even a 5900X (not entirely sure on that one) just by nature of being a single full die CCD (so denser heat generated in one area) vs a cut down CCD (5600X) or two 6-core CCD spread out on the 5900X.

My cpu temp shoots up really fast which seems concerning. 88c in just a few seconds. On top of that, my rad never gets warm to the touch. Everything is at stock.

Yea, or pretty close. The thing that seems the most telling is the rad not being warm at all. I remember it getting warm in the past.

What vcore are you seeing when it shoots up that high?  As I said earlier, mine sits around 1.20-1.22v under full load.  Maybe yours is shooting 1.30v+ through it stock?

Ah, yeah that does seem off. Should feel hot air exhausting from there under load for sure.
