The social media platform Discord recently published its quarterly safety report which notes that some 55,573,411 accounts and 68,379 servers were “disabled” between January and June, 2022. According to the company, the vast majority of these were taken offline for "spam or spam-related offenses."

The number of accounts that were disabled for reasons other than spam definitely pales in comparison, amounting to a mere 1,821,721. The bans in this category were mostly handed out for issues relating to “child safety” or “exploitative and unsolicited content.”

I get the feeling I have a small idea of what some of those were, regarding some recent news articles that had been published.  If I'm right....then good!  Maybe they should be handing those chat logs over to the authorities as well.  If its just mere censorship, then horrible news.....but considering "child safety" was mentioned, I have hope it was for the better.   

The other 53-54 million banned for spam related purposes, yeah that doesn't surprise me one bit either.

Yea i understand what your talking about with the death of forum discord is pretty safe for illegal activity. They better act fast an improve their system without breaking freedom of speech.

Like so many platforms, they are email used for nefarious reasons. Discord is not actively policed, so they can be used for all sorts of horrible things , Spam being the bottom of that totem pole. Glad to see Discord standing up and cleaning house.

Gonna go out on a limb here and say that ANY acct that has chat bots that INITIATE conversations and send messages to subscribers off line need to get a ban.
