Hey @Fluxmaven what Sega Genesis model do you have and what games do you have for it?

I have the original version with the volume slider that came packaged with Altered Beast. It's currently in storage in the original box.

I also owned two of the 2nd gen smaller consoles but both of them died years ago.

I'd have to dig out the games to get a full list. Off the top of my head I have most Sonic games, Streets of Rage 2, Combat Cars, Mortal Combat, NBA Jam etc.

I'll be in Chicago for work all week but I'll try to get the full list and that thaiphoon burner info to you when I get home.

If you ever want to borrow any, let me know. You could pm me and I could ship them to you then you send them back when done.

Also don't worry about the Thaiphoon report. Not upgrading. Will be returning the memory.

Since my GIMP skills have improved substantially, I made a new and smaller banner in the OP that says "EHW Retro" instead of "EXHW Retro". I made this club and the other banner when I was quite new to the site, so...

@UltraMega you playing anything on the PSX emu on your phone? I'm also curious to see what Bluetooth controller you use when you play. 🙂

I'm not currently playing anything, but I have a bunch of stuff loaded on my phone ready to get started on. I use the Razor Kishi V2, it's not Bluetooth but plugs directly into the phone. A little pricey but such a great controller.

I just checked out the Razer Kishi v2 and it looks sick. Like a lot better than the Nintendo Switch joy cons are.

I have no real reason to emulate games on my phone, particularly PS1 as my PS2 is modded and backwards compatible and I have a few PS1 memory cards. I much prefer to play on a CRT as well. And for any other system, well I have pretty much all of them so..

Couple years ago I played through all of Xenogears again on my PS2.

Got this set up on the Macintosh and uploaded it, I thought you guys might get a laugh out of it. There's also an evil, mean version called AZILE I could make a video of.

  • 1 month later...

I have that UT4 box in my closet with all of the 100+ CDs it came with. Freaking miss Unreal Tournament. Wish they would make a new one, but UT3 was perfect.

I pretty much don't play fps games, I suck, but I freaking LOVE UT and especially Onslaught mode. UT3 was great even without community maps, the new alien vehicles were really fun, but UT2004 was like... Just perfect.

Just got a neat new (to me) motherboard in from @UltraMega actually. 😄  Old 775 board that takes P4's and Pentium D's, and a couple Conroe C2D chips (very few).  AGP board though!!! :wheee:

I do need to actually repair the board, there's one blown cap on there that needs attention before I want to power it up.  These AGP 775 boards, ESPECIALLY ones that support Core 2 at all, are actually kinda hard to find.  Should be a good board for hwbot stuffs later once I get it recapped. 🙂

UT2003/2004/UT3 are pretty much all perfect games IMO. 2003 was perfect; and then 2004, being a bit of a rehash just added such an insane amount of content to make up for it. UT3 is in a different league though because it still looks good today, unlike the others. If they re-released it on current gen consoles in 4K with a few minor updates similar to the Quake II Remaster, I bet it would do pretty well. The fact that it got removed from steam kinda suggest they might do something like that soon. I would be super stoked if something like that happened.

Some old lady had this when I did a repair for her and she just wanted to get rid of it. When I saw it, I knew it the main parts would make good collector's items. That board is pretty unique with the DDR1 and 2 slots. IDE and SATA. P4 to C2D. Kind of a slutty board. 😆

Agreed on all points. And yes, despite being a 2009 game, UT3 still looks great now. Especially the Deathmatch maps.

If that's an EliteGroup/ECS mobo, you should pair it with a BFG or Diamond graphics card. It would be cool to have a rig with parts from AIBs that no longer exist. 👍 @pioneerisloud

I'm working on that...... :lachen:

Currently I've got a XFX GeForce 6200 I can toss in there, or a Riva TNT2 PCI 16MB card.  I might be able to get my MX420 to stop artifacting, MAYBE but that's like a $9 card to replace too.  So yeah, lacking AGP video cards still at the moment.

Found in a 2003 era Game Informer. Thought you'd want to see it.

Okay, you actually made me go hunting and research a Socket I already thought I knew everything about.  See....we DO learn new things everyday!!!! :wheee:

So.....I was GOING to say, that magazine must be impossible.  FX-51 is a Socket 940 based processor, and Socket 940 only had PCIe capable motherboards and DDR ECC memory options only.  HOWEVER, turns out I'd be wrong in that assessment.  I had NO CLUE they made AGP Socket 940 motherboards!!!!  Apparently, they were only produced in the early days of Socket 940, once Nvidia got their act together with their NForce chipsets, 940 went full PCIe only at THAT point (around Socket 939 release).  Socket 754 was the only Socket at the time that had AGP from AMD, or you'd have to go backwards to Socket A and K7 with the Athlon-XP processors to get AGP back.

Again, I see NOW that I was wrong in that remembrance.  Here's proof:

The only reason I even went into all that, is because the Radeon 9800XT was ONLY released as an AGP card.

But hey, thanks for teaching me something new today! 🙂
