The AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS is the flagship of the Ryzen 7040 CPU family for laptops which arrives later this quarter. This CPU features 8 cores, 16 threads, a base clock of 4.0 GHz, a boost clock of 5.2 GHz, a 40 MB total cache, and an integrated RDNA 3 GPU known as the Radeon 780M with 12 Compute Units operating at up to 3000 MHz.

AMD's fastest Ryzen 7040 "Phoenix" CPU, the Ryzen 9 7940HS with Radeon 780M "RDNA 3" GPU has been tested in the 3DMark Time Spy benchmark.

 

 

Not too far off a mobile RTX 2050. But ways slower than a GTX 1060 mobile.

It's wild to see how far the iGPUs have come. I remember the sheer excitment I had from my first Llano mobile chip, 3500M. Perhaps not as fast as a GTX 1060M but likely a very small fraction of the power consumption. Will be neat to see what people do with these once htey make thier way into SFF prebuilts such as Minisforum.

Am currently on a Surface Laptop go 2 with an i5 and iris graphic. Honestly those newer IGPU are insane 😄 Running on battery i can run World of Warcraft Lich King maxed out at 60 fps on a res of 1536x1024.

 

And my main laptop with the 5900hx the IGPU is even better at 1080p

They are throttling performance with 8gb ram laptop and bad timing.  Am sure if we could run 6000mhz cl30 those mobile IGPU would wreck stuff
