...some (original size) 3840 x 1620 UltraWide (10bit, y444, 120Hz) screenies for FS2020 and CP2077. HDR doesn't always work with this on the RTX but it is still gorgeous and interesting in certain scenes / apps.

I just had a re-read of this as I am in need of a new TV. I have read up on the C1 and seems great. My recent Samsung bombed out on me but it was 5 years old and no OLED. I would love a TV with more vibrant colours and deep blacks. Will have to keep an eye on the pricing.

The latest LG C-series model is the C3 which debuted last month. The digit represents the model year. That means new old stock of C2s should be on clearance now. The best time to pick up a C2 is probably within the next couple of months while the more reputable retailers and even LG direct still have the C2 available. Once they fully shift to selling the C3, the remaining smaller retailers who still have stock of the C2 will jack up the prices on their meager inventory.

Check the C2's. @Snakecharmed is correct that these will be hitting closeout pricing now that the C3's are out.

That's how I got my C1 last year. Closeout when the C2's launched.

...I'm going back and forth between 4K and Ultrawide - that's the beauty of the 48 inch OLEDs...have your cake and eat it, too 😋

As a fellow Canadian, you'll know where Ellesmere Island is (brrr, cold); you'll see bits out of the right-side cockpit below (4K this time, unlike Ultrawide above). It looks all a lot better on live-OLED than in a screenie, but still...love the cockpit detail

...as @Snakecharmed and @Sir Beregond pointed out, C2s should be on sale very soon given the C3 update (not much changed)...but no matter what version you get, OLED is very much worth it, IMO.

4k oled eyefinity/surround is on my list if i ever can purchase a house. Damn covid doubled price of the area i was looking at. So my dream kinda stalled. Joke is i have almost two time the salary i had but still interest rate and fuel price is killing my project a bit.

instead of eyefinity, how about a bendable OLED (once the economy / budget priorities allow for it) ?

I tried curved monitors a couple times. They always went back. I guess I don't get it. I get the concept, but it just never translated for me in real world use. Although its slightly too big, I do love this flat OLED.

I was using the original 2015 34" Acer Predator X34 (they've reused the X34 model number more than once) prior to this LG UltraGear 38GN950-B. The X34 had a 3800R curve, which was barely even noticeable. This 38GN950-B has a curve of 2300R, which is pretty much at my limit for a curved screen that doesn't bother me. The majority of curved monitors today sport a 1900R or tighter curve. They're completely useless to me outside of gaming, and I don't consider them true game-changers for gaming either.

My biggest gripe with curved ultrawide LCD monitors though is their bottom-of-the-barrel quality control. If you don't send your first one back, you scored a minor miracle.

The bendable 45" OLEDs could have been worth considering if they didn't have such an abysmally low resolution. It's so low that it doesn't belong on a desk, at which point, you've lost the benefit of a curved screen. If it doesn't belong on a desk, then other solutions are far superior.

Okay, this size comparison is what I was looking for.

Visual size comparison of a 45 inch 21x9 display vs 48 inch 16x9 display

If you ignore the bendable feature, the 45" Corsair is otherwise pretty pointless. Over time, people are less inclined to make frequent adjustments to their space if they can be avoided. I used to pull my TV wall mount to my desk in the morning and retract it back to the wall at the end of the workday. Now I don't even bother unless the TV is actually in the way of me getting between my desk and the wall.

Seriously, for the price of that Corsair, I'd pick up two 42" LG C2s and call it a day.

I am also not particularly fond of curved setups. In addition, I find that sitting close to the C1 48, my whole field of vision is filled...has kept me from investing in VR so far.

I'm interested to know from those currently using the 48" size monitors how far away are your eyes from the screen?

2 1/2 feet is perfect for 48 OLED - especially with new eye candy below 😀

Path Tracing CP 2077 update (Originals are 4K DLSS 3 'Quality' / RTX Overdrive / FG / NVR)

CP77_OD1u_(446).thumb.jpg.3716c0f32b29b7ca33fa04b37a3dac43.jpg

This last one is full size .png, revisiting an older 'save', but with RTX Overdrive / Path tracing, DLSS3 Quality / FG  / NVR

What do you all recommend doing on these to work better as a monitor or protect from burn in.  Only thing I really did so far was auto hide the task bar and actually remember to turn it off since it doesn't shut down like a normal monitor

...I usually leave the wallpaper engine running after about 10 min of idle, never mind that when I consciously leave the system alone - say lunch - I switch it over to the 4K television-over-IP box anyway.

---

On an unrelated note, we were at a couple of big box stores (+ specialized computer chains) over the last few business days for other purchases. Needless to add that I steal myself away every time to look at the television and monitor displays...I saw LG C2, 3 and G3 and the respective and competing Samsung and Sony models - but never at the same height and/or next to each other...this is very annoying for anyone who would like a head-to-head comp with the same inputs and settings 😡.

For now, I am not interested the replace the C1 / 48 as it still awes me more than ever (even with nits turned down, per above), but the master-bedroom oldie  IPS-HDR tv might need an upgrade over the next year or so... It is connected to a 3090 on its own. I've looked at all kinds of synthetic tv/monitor benchmarks, but they don't really do it for me...I like to see at least three options right next to each other with the same input settings...but apparently, that is too much to ask.

...below, some more OLED HDR eye candy I can recommend...

But first, a quick 'FYI'...this may not be news to most folks, but the super-thin LG OLED panels not only have a clear protective foil on the front, but also the rear which definitely also has to come off for better heat dissipation...took me a couple of weeks to figure that out (and who reads the manual anyways)  😜
