Sooo, last eoc update showed 30mil :wheee:

All the clients are working hard to get some work done ?

@NavJack27 I don't see any gains from the small packet size. The units are a bit smaller, so a bit more units per day, but the average ppd with all the random units is a bit lower. Yes there was a moment with a good unit where the ppd was higher than the big units, but that has only happened once.

So for the work unit count it's good, overall ppd doesn't really matter.

I got this one work unit right now that is just confusing. It's a GPU one. P16433 R490 C0 G8. It won't go over like 60-70% GPU usage. The PPD is ultra low. the ETA is long. Just a heads up if you end up getting one that has your rig running oddly cool with low usage.

Just as a small note I have had to pause my folding temporarily to assess some electricity usage as we have a high bill but not sure whether its Folding or coincidental, gotta rule out some factors. In the meantime, made some great progress on the CFP, more on that soon.

So, we are already past 600 and slowly climbing up on the 500 page. :wheee:

Both my machines are doing great with the units I've been given the past days.

With the perfect scenario I'm getting over 6.5mil ppd on the 5700xt's and the 2080ti combined.

Soon the main system will go offline for some major overhauling, new case and new watercooling setup.

Already working on it, but even with a case they call "XL" it's still a tight fit. Should have gone with a 1000D I guess ?

Nice one bud ! I am still down right now on the folding front but really itching to get back into it, though I will be down to one 2080Ti as I am selling my second one as SLI is dead lol.

Thanks :)

I've never used SLI/Xfire, but I guess one 2080ti is powerfull enough for gaming anyways :p

Only for folding I had 2 or 3 GPU's in a system, but never for gaming.

With your possible upgrade to 30xx in mind it's a good thing to do I guess!

I'd love to have a second 2080ti in my system for folding, but the power usage is already a bit high (~37 euro's a week for both systems at 1kw/h).

With an other added 300W it would be almost 50 euro's for electricity a week for folding alone, and it's also getting a bit warm in my room :p

And I would need to get a new PSU for that too, 850W would be nearly maxed out, I'm seeing a good 550-600W depending on the units with the CPU only folding at 50% and the GPU maxed out.

I threw around this suggestion back at ocn with cynical and simmons... I pay a fixed rate for my electricity where I live cuz reasons. If anyone in the USA (or further away) wanted a dedicated folding rig running and they didn't like the possible power costs, I'd be glad to house a computer and get it up and running if ppl just wanted to send the rigs to me :-P. I swear I'm trustable. The points would be in your user name, I won't steal anything. I'll just house the computer and make sure it is running top notch.

I can't honor this right now cuz other things going on but I'll plant the seed of the idea now so I can bring it up again later on.

I just saw that, nice job guys. Most likely sub 400s looking at the points right now. The next foldathon will definitely put a dent in both catagories.

  • 3 months later...

It's been a while...

I haven't been paying attention to the eoc stats, but I just found out that we are way past 1 billion points :classic_happy:
My systems have been running for an other team for some time, but as long as they are folding it doesn't really matter to me.
Now that the forum is back online, and everything seems to be settled, I have one system back on 239902.
I also persuaded a friend to let me use his 7700k and 1080ti if there is a comp somewhere, so it's possible to get close to 9 million points per day.

Thanks to all of you who are still folding ?

Managing the temps in my room is kinda hard. Keeping the windows open as much as possible, and letting all the fans run at 100% is the only way.
Last night it cooled down a lot, the 2080ti at 2115mhz was running 37°C :D
The 5700xt's ran at 43°C and 47°C max, wish it could always be like that!

Weather is getting colder here, so it won't be long until I start folding again. I'm guessing the hype has really died down so no more issues getting WUs? I was generally getting 1.4-1.5 million PPD with the WUs I was getting.

Yeah, right now I am living in a single room, so with two machines pumping out the WU's life gets kinda uncomfortable. So hopefully once I have moved I can get everything folding away in the office.

The F@H team is working hard to fix everything they encounter. We've had a few waves of different units already, good and bad. They have been setting up new servers, and improved several servers to meet the demand.
And yes, the hype has died a bit. So the 24/7 folders can take over ?

Early this evening I decided to take down a few clients, running 4 of them is acceptable temperature wise.
I tried to play some CoD Warzone, but I was literally dripping on the floor ?

Also, I'm kinda looking around to get a used 2080 super or 2070 super for one of the systems. That one is in the living room, and with the 30xx cards coming I hope to get one for around 300 euro's or even less. Would be a nice extra heater for the living room ?

Never intended to stop folding this whole time, but my daily rig has had some issues that have led F@H to cause my PC to crash very frequently. Haven't had any time to investigate that so that's been down for a couple weeks. That's left my sim rig folding for EHW with the 980 Ti and the 24/7 TC rig folding for OCN. However, I've just seen in my signature that I haven't put up any points today, which means I forgot to restart folding on the sim rig after my last race on Saturday. Whoops.

Awesome to see we've crossed a billion points team-wide though. Exciting stuff.

No problem at all, you (and a few others) have kept the team active in a time where I was away :)

I really enjoyed being able to be on #1 at OCN for some time, even though many of those guys have clients at idle between the FaT's. So for the time being I left my clients running for them, enjoying being on top for once ?

But now we are back online here, I'll keep at least a few clients folding for 239902 besides the FaT comp every month.

I only stopped because of heat. I didn't really want my computer to be dumping out air at 60c+ all day when it's 25-30c outside in a well insulated room with no air conditioning. Even when not folding, my computer at idle would slowly heat up my room from 25-30c up to 33-38c.
