Now that I think about it, that's a lot more than I was expecting out of a 1660 Ti, points-wise. I've probably just underestimated the entire Turing lineup at this rate.

 

Waiting on a bunch of parts I ordered recently and then I'm going to overhaul two systems and start a fourth. Then I'll resume folding some for EHW and direct most of my output elsewhere until I hit another major milestone... I've made some poor decisions in the past couple weeks.

The 1660 cards are not bad. My plex server uses a 1660 (Non Ti) for Transcoding and does a fairly good job in folding. About 700k on the 13426 project.

I was pretty happy with the 1mil it did before, but with the new cuda support it's really doing a great job! 
It's at about 100mhz core overclock, depending on the temps. I decided to lower the fan speed to keep it a bit more quiet.

Have fun with overhauling the systems, I always love the proces of building/rebuilding a pc :classic_smile:

I was going to check what my GTX 1050 Ti would get versus my RX 5700 on the GPU PPD Database, but OCN is just royally borked right now:

It looks like under current numbers:

- GTX 1050 Ti gets ~200k PPD

- RX 5700 gets gets ~850k PPD

 

 

So not really worth folding on the GTX 1050 Ti and better just saving that for Plex Transcoding.

 

Now the GTX 1660 Ti on the other hand with its current ~800k PPD would get a 27% boost or so up to ~1mil PPD which makes it very attractive as a Folding@Home card.  I'm kind of thinking of just removing my 10 gig network card in my Gaming rig and having the following Expansion Cards:

- RX 5700 (Use as main gaming card and for Folding@Home when not gaming)

- GTX 1660 Ti (Use for NVENC for Capture Card and for Folding@Home nearly full-time)

- Elgato 4k60 Pro Mk.II (For capturing Nintendo Switch or Gamecube)

 

 

Might need to upgrade my power supply for this, but it would let me get a little more life out of my X470 + 2600x without any other major upgrades until Ryzen 5000 and RX 6000/GTX 3000 stabilize on price and availability.

 

 

The RX 5700 is all I really need at this point for Warframe, Emulators, RocketLeague at 1080p 120Hz so thinking just having a secondary GPU for NVENC and Folding@Home might be a better "GPU Upgrade" for my system.  And before anyone asks about why I'm using 120 Hz, well it's just a lot cleaner to my eyes when I'm watching content that is 30 of 60 FPS while still playing nicely with 24 FPS content as well.

If you were going for Nvidia not so much, but I wouldn't recommend AMD at this point if you don't have some specific reasons why you'd like a red card.

My 1660ti is folding between 1.3 and 1.5 million points a day with a maximum of 150 watt power draw. I haven't seen my 5700xt's above 1.1 million ppd for the last two weeks, but they are maxing out at 200 watt.

So for the 1660ti it's 8000 to 10000 points per watt and for the 5700xt it's about 5000 to 6000 points per watt.

Seconding this. I would like to get an updated GPU PPD database of sorts going that includes CUDA changes to see if anything has shifted around, but we'd need a good sample size across a wide range of cards. That's why I never got around to submitting WUs from my 1070 Tis and 980 Ti; their performance was oudated by that point.

It would be nice to have an updated database, the current one is basically useless after the cuda update. 
For AMD cards it's still the same afaik, at least on my end there is no positive change on the 5700xt's.

I did find this site which seems to be set up by some LTT users that pulls data frequently, but I'm not sure how much (though judging by the size of that team, probably quite a bit).

I like the sound of that, a Folding Stats Section!

 

The folding at home app knows the most about what your client is doing, the hardware specs and everything about the project you work on. I'm not into writing software and that kinda stuff but getting a database going with the best possible first hand data would mean you have the best and most accurate database. Although it would be a lot of data I guess..
