I'm fortunate in that power is included in my rent so I can use as much as I want, plus AC, without really affecting anything. When I move out though, we'll see what happens.

Sounds like you should buy a few old computers that are cheap and run F@H on them. Even though they won't get you much PPD and use a lot of power for the amount of work they do, you won't be paying for it ?

Yeah I have tripped a breaker or two with just one big PC per room so I think that's my limit, but I may explore that a bit more and introduce another PC or two.

I've got a brand new server rack coming in and colder weather is coming so I might be able to go back to mostly dedicated Folding@Home between gaming.  May as well use Folding@Home to heat my home office instead of just baseboard heaters.

Great minds think alike, my office will have the radiators switched off...might as well take advantage of the heat from the folding.

I think it's actually the most efficient way to heat a room. 400-500W being used, that much power being used by a computer is sufficient to heat a medium sized room to a pretty decent temperature and there's the added bonus of your computers compute power being used to cure disease. A lot better than a 1500-2000W electric heater that just heats.

Nice!
I should be able to get a 2080s too in a few days, waiting for the owner to come home and sell it to me :classic_tongue:
What kinda ppd do you see with the current units? Like the updated 1343x units, I've seen almost 3 mil on a 1080ti.
I bet the 2080s would be close to 4 mil.

I never left, just paused Folding ?

And my Navi 5700 is getting about 1mil per day if I am to believe the v7 client's estimate.

With the 1343x WUs the highest I've seen is 3.8M ppd.  That's with stock core/mem clocks.  You can probably get over 4M with a bit of an OC. Right now my memory is just crunching in the default P2 state, but with a 100MHz boost to the core and mem clocks at 8000MHz it should push it up over 4M ppd.

1 mil for a 5700 sounds about right, depending on the unit. My 5700xt's are between 1.1 and 1.4 mil for the available units at the moment.

That sounds great! I was expecting it to be at least 2.5 mil some time ago before hearing about the insane decrease in tpf with the new cuda support. 3.5 and over is even better :classic_tongue:

I've seen the 1660ti doing 1.5 mil the past few days with the new units. With the old units it was between 880k and 960k most of the time, so that's an insane increase! :classic_biggrin:

What hardware are you using for that?

The temps have dropped here too. Last night I moved one of the mobile folding rigs to my bedroom for some extra heat :classic_laugh:
I think I'll have to order an other wifi card for the third rig to make it mobile too, so I have another mobile heater!

I'm using a single RTX 2070.

My actual PPD isn't actually going to be near that high, I am going to pause it every once in a while so I can play some games.

Upped the power limit, core clocks, and memory clocks on the 2080S, and now I'm sitting at 4.2M :classic_cool: on a p17402.

Also, I just threw a 5700XT on that machine, and with the power limit maxed, but no OC on the core or the memory, it is at 1.25M on a p17402.

It will be hard not to run the 2080s 24/7 with ppd like that! That's more than a 2080ti on a normal unit..

My 5700xt's are about the same. 1.3mil on a 17402 unit with no oc, under water and with max power limit.
