I am pretty sure that the battery is safe if you are using a power cable to the wall.
It is protected from overcharging, so safe to use it that way. I only unplug my laptop if I need to take it somewhere, but if I need to use it at home I use the power cable most of the time.

As for that Dino PC, the GPU will fold pretty good! Around 2 times the PPD from your Razer Blade should be no problem.
I have no idea what that CPU will do, but make sure you keep an extra core free for your GPU as we discussed before. You don't want to slow down that 2070 :classic_biggrin:

Hey guys,

Apologies for the lack of competitions so far as Folding@Home. These will return, but things have been super busy my end and financially on the tighter side with all the recent site changes and life haha.

More on this as soon as I can :)

Cheers,

E

The site seems to be growing a good amount recently, even if we just host a friendly competition.

Users might be able to throw up small prizes here and there to spice things up too in the spirit of the old community funded Foldathons.  Even something like switching a Folding Farm to someone elses username for a week or something.

That would be great, I'll be posting the thread for November's on November 1st with the old traditional count-down timer and also try to figure out something for a live graph as well.

As a note, the embed wizard is in the works, so soon we will be able to start embedding content such as google docs which may make life somewhat easier later on.

I like that idea as well, quite unique and it's still productive without costing anybody anything. I'd be willing to trade off some computing power too, so we can alternate months or something like that.

Spent my Sunday productively.
It was a mess but it’s all nice and clean now. Temperatures are off the charts now after using some Grizzly bear on

We will see how it folds once I set up an Operating system.

Yeah, it's impressive!
We should be able to climb about 90 positions with our average ppd now in only 2 months. But with a little more power from everyone we'll get there sooner.
@Supercrumpet will soon join us again with around 8mil ppd, and who knows what some of us have planned :classic_rolleyes:

Should be closer to 8.5 or 9, power in my apartment went out about 10 minutes after I walked out the door and I didn't get back for 12 hours, so that's why I had such a crap day once last week.

Hopefully by the end of the month I'll have another rig running with the 1070 Tis. A few plans have changed and I need confirmation on something (that I'll hopefully get tonight) and I just have too many other things that are higher on my priority list right now.

I saw earlier you said you have plans to increase your production by what, 6M PPD!? That doesn't bode well for my attempt at taking the top EHW spot, haha.

That's even better! A steady 8.5 mil will bring us to at least 25mil ppd ?
I like your plans, getting two 1070ti's running will be a nice boost as well.

As for my plans, the first 2 million is an "easy" upgrade which will also be 150 watts less power draw. The other one might take a little more time, we'll see..

Testing my tiny setup for the competition.
With the right PPD, these two tiny things should hit 3.5M a day ?

Sadly I won’t be able to Fold 24/7 so I will help the forum a bit as well when I can fold ☺️

To be top 20 is gonna be hard for my Xeon + RTX *hahah*.

My lord I need over 8 million points.

To suicide run my laptop and desktop for 4 days non stop or to not suicide run my laptop and desktop for 4 days non stop ? That is what Shakespeare was thinking when he wrote his famous line.

My Xeon machine is amazing!

Running 4.6 GHz @ 1.43V with my RTX 2070 at 1950 MHz and hitting 2.2M PPD sometimes.

The GPU does not exceed 60 centigrade with fans at 42%.

Added some points for this awesome forum :).
