Help section

This site is fairly complicated for a newcomer. As for me, I have a question relating to use of the site but unlike OCN, there is no help forum in this section. I will post my question in general chit-chat for now. I suggest adding a help forum under the Extremehw Forum section.

I can add a section for site help, but it is a magnet for people misinterpreting it as a general help forum and you end up with people posting all sorts in there. I will add one and add some rules for the section and see how it goes. Will look into this tomorrow

Maybe name it "Site Help" to avoid what you're concerned about?

Wouldn't this new "section" conflict a little bit with the "site suggestions" section?  I mean if you can't find something on the site / how to use something, the site itself should be relatively common sense proof.  So if something is missing or a person can't find it, they could always suggest whatever feature is missing.  If the site has it already, @ENTERPRISEusually pops in and gives the proper directions on how to access said feature, and if its not available he usually offers to put it in for us.

I kinda agree with E on this one, that it would absolutely have the potential to be "abused" for just general tech help instead of the "site help" like you're suggesting.  Thing is WE here at EHW are, for the most part, a group of pretty smart individuals.  We need to remember though however, that PEOPLE in general are dumb, mindless creatures in mass.  Not everyone would take the time to read E's instructions.  "Oh, this section says help, I need help with my new Asus x99999 motherboard so I'll post here" is EXACTLY the kind of mentality I would expect with a "site help" section.

Sorry for the late follow up to this one. I have decided for now, unless it becomes a more prominent issue, we will not be adding a "Help" section. Right now, I do not feel its needed. In the future this may change and I will be happy to revisit it then
