The Extreme HW Game List - 2024 Edition

So I started up BO6 and after a total mess of an install-update process, I got it to launch. Seems to be further than a lot of people have gotten so far.

Was confused for a while because you have to load up the campaign before you can get to the graphics settings.

Sounds frustrating…

Let us know how it is! I haven’t played CoD since Black Ops (1). So I am a little out of touch but was tempted to resign Gamepass to give it a go.

I haven't played COD in a long time either. So far I'm not enjoying it much because it just doesn't really let you actually play the game. So many cutscenes and videos. For every 10 minutes of the game, you get to actually play the game for maybe 2 of those minutes. Hopefully it picks up.

Edit:

The game uses "auto exposure" to a really broken feeling degree. I can't see things right in front of me if the camera angle is a little too low, but from a slightly different angle it's nice and bright. Super annoying. The last game I played that did this was Homefront 2.

So just an update, I've been looking for a way to disable auto exposure but so far I haven't been able to find any usable config files for the game pass version. I sort of doubt there is a way to disable it and if there isn't I don't know if will get back to it. Maybe an update will mitigate the issue because it feels broken as is.

Heads up that nearly all game distribution sites have their black friday sales up now.

Steam, GoG, Epic, Battle net etc. Third parties like Green Man Gaming also have sales that usually offer a few extra % off too! Most sales aren’t anything special, however, if you have a backlog, nows a good time to stock up!

Check the list (main page) and don’t forget about 2023! Happy shopping!

I have a backlog to target too (copy paste below) but I think I’ll focus on grabbing some indies instead and maybe one AAA to mess around with. As I really want to focus this holiday on Stalker 2.

Games that are on my  backlog from 2023 in order of priority:

  1. Alan Wake II (Purchased!)
  2. Sea of Stars (Purchased!)
  3. Hi-Fi Rush (Purchased!)
  4. Dead Space (2023) (Purchased!
  5. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon (Purchased!)
  6. Remnant II (Pending purchase)
  7. System Shock (2023) (Purchased)
  8. Baldur's Gate III (Pending purchase)
  9. Dredge (Pending purchase)
  10. Final Fantasy XVI (Pending Purchase)
  11. Aliens: Dark Descent (Pending Purchase)
  12. Cities: Skylines II (TBD…)

One of the last major updates to the Google Sheet. Extract below for quick reference. Ill create a separate page for the Game Awards just like the 2023 thread 🙂

Surprised by how well the Indiana Jones reviews came in, I decided to pre-order via GMG. I'll share some thoughts later this month in the screenshot thread if anyone is interested 🙂

Small heads up. Indiana Jones on PC does NOT support Path Tracing on AMD or Intel GPUs at this time. They've dropped a patch that enabled it, however, you cannot toggle it within the settings unless you have an Nvidia GPU.

I suspect this will change but given there is only DLSS available for upscaling and this restriction is in place, sounds like Nvidia "sponsorship" practices are continuing. I could be wrong. However, given how flexible iD is with their technology and it’s a repeating pattern with Nvidia sponsorship, I have doubts.

Maybe a quick .ini file mod will fix it... but it's almost 2025. Get with the program.

2024-12-17  Game Awards 2024 Announcements

Below is a list of announcements, in order of announcement. Announcements could be simply new trailers for previously announced games (E.g., The Outer Worlds 2, The Witcher IV), release dates, and of course, a plethora of new games like Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, Elden Ring Nightreign, and more. I won't list every update pertaining to each title. I've excluded mobile exclusives (this is ExtremeHW after all...)  Hyperlink to Steam page prioritized where applicable.  I'll edit the post or post a follow up, with a spoiler tag with Youtube trailers.

Enjoy!

With site closure looming ahead, I would like to thank everyone and Enterprise for providing an environment to support this community.

I’ve really enjoyed sharing my hobby (sheet analytics, discussing, and hyping gaming) with fellow PC enthusiasts. PCs and Gaming is as important to me as bread and water. Ok, well maybe that’s a wee bit of a stretch… but either way, I throughly enjoyed my time here. As long as just one person received a bit of value in any of discussions here, then it was all worth it.

I may do some polishing up on the backend of the sheet for archiving sake but beyond that, please consider this thread closed.

Will there be a 2025 list? Possibly, but I I will take a break from forums for a while if this site is permanently down. If that is the case, where the new thread will live is yet to be seen. As I am not active anywhere else. I digress. Cheers to ExtremeHW!

Thank you all and happy holidays!!!
