Competition begins in a little over 9 hours.  With @Bastiaan_NLback for this competition, who will win?

Ha, at least not me. I'm putting together hardware as we speak 😂

Countdown pulled up on secondary screen 😄

Haven't been feeling well but, will be contributing AT LEAST my 7900GRE (power detuned).

Will have an MI25 or 2 going by end of day too (hopefully).

Get well soon 🙏

In Bastiaan_NL 🤔

I'll try to drop a few work units, if I don't fry any cables between my PSU and the 4090

If only I could get all my 20-40 gen cards to run in time....

I know the pain of melting psu cables well too XD

Between you, Nbrock, Flux, and Avacado it will be a tough competition for me. But if you're running those cards you showed as well as a 4090 you'll be out of my league. 🙂

For now I have a 4090, 3090 and a 3070Ti online. The bottom card shown in the picture (2080Ti) is running like sh..., so sadly will be taken down.

Running a 4090 OC'ed in Linux, and a MSI 3060 Ventus on Win10 in my fiancees machine.

If you're running a 4090, 3090 and 3070ti you will do very well and beat me for sure.

By the way, what inspired you joining the foldathon? I've been doing them since January 2023 and never seen you in one. It's great that you're joining the cause and with a lot of punch. 💯

Linux is king, but I'm just running on W10 (existing installs) for a quick FAT.

I'm not even sure how the conversation went, but @firedflymentioned the FAT so why not.

I slowed down my folding output two years ago and the last card folding was taken offline around 1.5 years ago. The power is too expensive 🤷‍♂️

The funny thing is for some reason, I can't clock my 4090 higher than about 2940MHz or close to/over 3000MHz in Linux folding or it will lock the machine up. However, in Windows I can do 3090MHz in most games and benches, and the highest I can do is 3135MHz for Superposition. So nothing wrong with using Windows, but I have done 36m points (my record) in a single day in Linux with the clocks I mentioned (2955 max)

I always forget about your guys crazy power costs because of the goddamn war. Makes perfect sense. We pay 6c per kWh. About 0.06 euro.

Looks good aside from not having an active work unit in fahcontrol. Why, is it not grabbing one?

When I started folding for EHW about 3 years ago, @Bastiaan_NL was in first place and untouchable.  No one could come close to his PPD.  Once the electric prices significantly increased where he is, he slowed down and eventually stopped folding.  It took a while for me to catch him.

Why's he folding in this foldathon?  I pestered him and somehow convinced him that 2 days of folding wouldn't break the bank 🙂

Glad you convinced him. And now you're the king of the mountain and untouchable 🙂

Correct. Though, now I'm getting a 'loop' of ready->dowload0->ready->download

I've got errands away from home to go run. If it hasn't sorted itself by the time I'm back, I'll fix it then.

Guessing the Adrenaline driver is unhappy/missing ROCm. Will fix on return.

Fixed. Yes, it was the driver. Apparently AMD 1st Party Adrenaline doesn't equip-enable OpenCL.
Ended up using this driver package (after clean uninstall w/ DDU)

Good times!
I remember having 6 GPU's folding on the X299 Sage board and a few spread over different systems.
A lot of heat and a big powerbill, even with the lower electricity price at the time.
But remember, always look at how many units someone folded and not only at the points. I can't compare with some of the OG's who had hardware online for 15 years.
The current generation of hardware is just silly, 30mil points on a single GPU was what took us weeks back in '10..

Anyways, I gotta get some hardware together for another system as I need to beat @Avacado  😂

IIRC, back in '11 the top 10 producers were in the 2-3mil range.  Back when BigAdv on multiprocessor servers was king.

If we go back even farther, in 2006 I was averaging about 540 points per WU and that WU took more than a day to complete!

2006 was before my time.
I started somewhere in 09 for OCN and had a bit less units for 2bil compared to 8bil for EHW.
image.png.4f2b9c4977cb661f4e99e7a665a76434.png

Living at my parents place at the time, running bigadv units on i7's which was almost better than running gpu's (I still had 6 of them online).
I don't remember the actual PPD, I think a bigadv unit was somewhere over 100k points and took a little over a day.
@zodac was the one who dragged me into folding, good times.

Also, 5 GPU's online atm:

(I even had to use a full system as a cooling tower for the bench as I stole the bench rad for the one on the pool table 😂)

Working on bringing 3x MI25s online in my 'Media Reclaimer' build.

I'd take pics, but it's a bit too LabRat even for LabRat 😄
there are former mining risers and PSUs involved, with an open side panel, and 2x MI25s sitting on top...

Edit:
Finally, they're operational. ~100W ea. + the R5 5600 in that machine.

donated MI25 w/ bad HBM made a bunch of bad WUs.

My fault for not 'generically' folding. 1st thing I did was enter my codekey, name, and team.

Ended up submitting at least 4-6 bad WUs. Oops. -What I deserve for not thinking ahead lol.

We are at the "close enough" to the finish that I'm just gonna hit finish on most of the rigs. It's a bit warmer today and I'd like to have it not be 82f in the office 😂

Somebody better at folding hit up @LabRat ?  He really should be up there with my point output, and he's not.  I'm not good at folding myself so I'm not much help.

mmmhmmmm....
No errors on the 7900GRE this whole time, either. Only the MI25s and the R5 5600 'spat out' bad WUs at any point. (and that'd been corrected yesterday)

At this point, I'm assuming my Name and CodeKey is 'cursed' (low-reliability listed?)

Next comp, I'll be switching to my other 'handle' of LRK-GT, and use a diff. email for a fresh codekey.

Well let's see.

1st key combo is flawless

2nd just needs 6 more WU to get bonus

3rd is flawless

4th is FUBAR
