I ask myself sometimes if people really think they can send stuff out broken and nobody will notice.
How can you tighten a premium water block to a point where you break the damn thing?

3 out of 4 screws of the backplate were fine but the 4th one pretty much got threaded into the block rivet or whatever you call it. It is  a similar design like the motherboard stand you tread into your case before you place the motherboard and tighten the screws.

So now, I opened an RMA ticket, I have to wait for EK to look at it and contact me.
In addition we will go back and forth until I grovel enough for them to help me out.

This is why I no longer shop outside of Amazon.

Something broke? No questions asked, order a replacement and they send it ASAP.

You have a month to return the old one or they charge it on your card.

I don't really hate the looks though, and I've actually seen a few driving around in the Netherlands already.

That sucks, sorry to hear another bad EK experience... I hope they'll solve it asap!

I am still looking for a block for my FTW3, and what I like about the EK blocks is the active backplate which connects to the main block. Watercool.de still has no Heatkiller block for sale for the FTW3, that's my first choice though they don't have an active backplate..

I ain't gonna say much, but I know your pain. I always pray when buying water parts, but ek definitely had issues in past and present, remember nickel plating issue? Company is getting to big too fast. I guess their binning standards are getting lower and lower

...I share your frustration...per below, the EK backplate for the 3090 Strix was already successfully RMAed (can you spot the peeling nickel 😉 ); I also replaced the EK main / front block given the contact area w/ the 3090 die

...not sure what this is called, but it isn't called quality control

I'm really happy with the 1080 I bought from Avacado. The only time it ever had to work hard was when I was benching my Vega 64 with power limits unlocked to 450W and it still kept the water cool. With your folding setup I would probably do one 1080 per 3 cards and build a nice rad box, maybe even pipe the radiators outside except in the winter 😛

Following corrosion issues with some of its waterblocks, EK has improved its nickel-plating process.

Let's hope it's true, we need more quality parts and options to cool our cards. Waiting on a heatkiller block for 8 months now...

try smart car, it has so much space inside, and fun to drive. Honestly, Shaq drives one

myself, driving audi a4 and had vw golf 3 door before. Tons of space for driver.

I've once driven the roadster, really not my type of car but it was kinda funny.

I own a Grand Vitara which is big enough to fit me and 4 friends ranging from 6'2" to 6'6" and 165-230lbs and my company car is a VW Transporter T6, lots of space for me 🙂

Jeez man, how many more cards are you putting in?

ALL OF THE GPUS!

But, seriously, the plan is to fill the bench with 12 full speed cards. At that point, I'll be selling off the low performers possibly, but I also have a few other slots elsewhere I can fill.
