Iv'e heard people complaining about gunk. It doesn't matter how many NM something is. No colored coolant is immune. Run the X1 or MMM clear (Mayhems Blend)

Total waste of money. Two out of 5 of my bottles separated, had to shake them really good to mix it back together. No real improvements over just distilled as far as I can see. It does look nice and all but is a pain to clean when spilled and will likely require extensive cleaning if I ever swap in a new fluid. 

If Mayhem's hadn't sold the business I'd have faith the issues would be worked out and would of gladly buy it again but in the future I'll stick with distilled. 

I still plan on using the XTR for as long as I can but it was not worth the $45 a liter I paid. Not even close

Yeah the more I looked at it, the more I leaned to just keeping with clear X1 or the Mod Water. I did find some white PETG (XSPC if I recall) if I decide to try hardline, so that took care of the coloring for me. If I stay soft tubing, will probably just keep the Primochill white I've been using and replace every couple years because this stuff definitely has plasticizer issues. Honestly leaning towards trying the hardline.

 

EDIT: Also saw the XTR was like $50 a bottle now. Not worth it to me.

 

Edit 2: Oh guess that was a "discontinued products" page regarding that PETG. Guess the search continues.

So does anyone have any experience with Acrylic vs PETG? As I am leaning back towards good ol' reliable clear X1, I am noticing there are many more options for white hardline tubing with acrylic than there is with PETG (at least from what I saw looking this weekend). @Avacado had helped me with a ton of info for PETG a year ago before the build had to go on hiatus, but now that I am gearing up to get it going again, kinda decided I want to try the hardline (to avoid plasticizer in the soft tubing), but stick with clear fluid for ease of maintenance and because reports seem to be the new XTR still has issues opaques have, but I still would like white colored tubing.

 

Anyway decisions, decisions...

Acrylic is more work to bend but for straight cuts, corsair ones are some of my preferred ones - comes in satin frosted, black. 
 

You can see how xtr 4nm white looks on my build to give you idea.

Agree with Section31.

 

In my experience, acrylic has a clarity that PETG does not offer. It has a higher thermal threshold of coolant before deformity. It does come in more variety and is overall more sturdy to build with over PETG. The downside is it has to be sawed, not cut. Making mistakes on length leads to more time intensive fixes over just cutting. Bending acrylic is harder as well as it requires a higher temperature than PETG before becoming pliable. Deformities in acrylic are harder to fix, as are re-heating previous bends. 

 

The result usually ends the same, but you may spend an extra 5-15 minutes per tube bend/run with acrylic. 

 

Also, last time I bought tubing over a year ago, acrylic was more expensive.

I did notice that Corsair white tube in my searching but was unsure how much tubing they actually give you since it just says "3 pack" on their site and PPCs and such. How much do you get @Section31?

Its 3000mm of tubing, which is a lot.

I had to buy an arts & craft saw in the end. It was easiest way to cut the acrylic. Hacksaw and Mitre Box was lot more work and tiring.

...haven't specifically cut acrylic tubing with it but I've used the Dremel tool with great results on other acrylic bits (and of course copper tubing, other metals and other plastics). It makes very clean cuts...

Dremel works well too. Hacksaw/Mitre doesn't make straight cuts unless you have an actual workshop area with proper clamping gear etc. The make shift plastic ones you can buy at home depot, etc aren't very good.

I actually own this saw. Was bought for acrylic. Make sure you don't get 16mm tubing as it will NOT cut clean through (Leaves about 2-3mm uncut.) Would need 10 or 13mm tubing for it to be able to cut through.

Good info, thanks. I was looking at maybe some 14mm given those Corsair options for white acrylic. I tend to prefer wider tubing aesthetically, not necessarily the biggest, but definitely not the smallest. I use 3/8" ID | 5/8" OD for my soft tubing for example.

I could see avoiding XTR for the moment (and certainly would), but why in the world would anyone avoid X1, XT-1, Blitz, etc? I'm won't be avoiding any of these and will continue to recommend them since they are best in class.
