I know I should be more proactive, but I keep thinking that the longer I wait before jumping off what appears to be the sinking SS MW, the better the accommodations will be when I board the SS Linux.

Gran Turismo and Forza both look really good, but I think GT is a step ahead, looks very impressive. 

 

I've actually been playing Final Fantasy IX lately because there's a mod that used AI upscaling to improve all the backgrounds and it's pretty cool. I would take screenshots but they would look the same as anything you would see in the trailer, so I'll just post that instead:

There are two ways to do it.

 

One way is to just grab it and rip the band-aid off. It is quick and it only hurts for a few seconds. The band-aid is still sticky. You could stick it back on again if you wanted to.

 

The other way is to get the band-aid wet. The adhesive will soften and after a while it will just fall off. It does not stick to anything and it is totally worthless. You can't change your mind, and you would not want to because it is disgusting.  This way takes longer, but does not involve any anxiety or discomfort.

 

I am taking the latter approach.

There's a new mod for Ghost Recon Wildlands that adds first person mode. If I had to guess, I think Ubisoft planned for this game to be first person but changed to third person at some point in development, probably because the game is so hard already. Just a few screenshots from playing the mod:

That is way cool. Where did you get the mod? I will look into that. I stopped playing it because it could not hold my interest. I am almost exclusively a First-Person Shooter gamer. It is rare that I enjoy playing games in other genres.

 

On the topic of gaming, I just LOVE exposing all of the lies and gimmicks about Windows 10+ being needed to support gamerboy crap. Another fake system requirement exposed. Myth busted.

 

Behold! Windows 7 with Resizable Bar support enabled and working. This was not because I care that much about the feature itself, I just wanted to show another example of the Redmond Reprobates being compulsive liars. DX12 is probably the most famous of their lies. It was the dangling carrot for Windoze 10 from the start, and we already have evidence that it works fine on Windows 7 except for the control-freak approach they have taken. Oh well, Vulkan is better anyhoo.

 

It is funny that EVGA Precision X1 "assumes" the BIOS has CSM/Legacy mode enabled. It does not. GPU-Z, NVIDIA Control Panel and PX1 all show it is enabled.

I posted what I think are my best shots from FH5, so I guess my main point is that my "average" screenshot from FH3 or 4 is better than my "average" shot from 5. Below is a shot from 3 that I tried to recreate in 5. Maybe not a good example though since the paint finish is so different.

That looks great! From time to time I think about returning to GR:W but decide against it since I don't have the time to sink into another playthrough. Played it entirely in coop, so I'm curious about how a completely solo experience would compare.

I played Wildlands coop my first playthrough. It was a lot of fun, but it wasn't until I played it solo (with AI teammates turned off) on the hardest difficulty that it started to feel like I really needed to be tactical, which made the game a lot more fun. I eventually beat it like that and now I'm playing it again with all the hud (except the parts you need to know what you have equipped) and spotting turned off. I was about half-way through that when the first person mod came out so now I'm playing in first person as well. It can be very challenging, but that's what makes it rewarding. The AI is a lot better in this game than you can realize when spotting and third person are enabled. I always felt like the AI was way too blind and bad at finding the player before I played in first person because it's hard to gauge when they should be seeing you in third person but in first person it all lines up correctly and feels hard, but fair. 

 

Just an example of how much more tactical it feels, in my first playthrough I don't think I ever used flash bangs. In my current playthrough they are incredibly useful. Same with flares. Thermal is WAY more useful. In my first play through this game felt like Far Cry(easy action, run and gun), now it feels like an open world Splinter Cell game. 

 

The first person mod isn't perfect, like the camera height in cars is often too low which will make you want to drive cars with big windshields but other than that it works really well. 

 

If you have any desire to play the game again, I suggest playing on max difficulty with the AI teammates turned off, in first person, with as much of the hud disabled as you can get away with. Just know it will be challenging. Play slow and stealthy.

...loaded my old fav ( ~ 2014) NFS Most Wanted onto Raven_A. 4096x 2160 is buttery smooth w/ all the eye candy on with the latest GPUs...while this version has upgraded graphics and content, it's visual fidelity is nowhere near close to modern car games - but it is still an absolute hoot to go wild with

So ever since I started playing Wildlands with the first person mod I've been taking a lot of screenshots. This is going to be a large post, but before the screenshots I'll rant a little about Wildlands to tell you guys why this game stands out to me.

 

I think Wildlands has graphics that were a bit ahead of it's time. When it came out, I had a 970 and I had started using Nvidia DSR to make use of the extra headroom on the GPU because it was so powerful at the time. Wildlands was the first game I remember playing on the 970 that wouldn't run smooth at 1080p with max settings. The game probably doesn't earn many point for optimization, but it has the visuals to back up the performance requirements for sure. Wildlands uses some variation of the Far Cry engine which used to be Dunia and now it's AnvilNext, but it's all based on the CryEngine. In a sense, Wildlands has the graphics you might expect from an open world Crysis game. The developers of Wildlands went to Bolivia for two weeks to study the terrain. Much of the map is based on very real locations. For instance, there is a road that's extremely curvy to the point that it makes you think the devs must have gotten careless with this part of the map, but it turns out that is a very real road and considered one of the most dangerous roads in the world. The devs spent 5 years making the map for this game and it shows. 

 

In first-person, a lot of detail starts to stand out that usually goes unnoticed in third-person. A good example is clocks. The game has analog clocks that work and move it real time to reflect the time in the game world; something very hard to notice in third-person. It seems clear to me that Ubisoft must have considered releasing this game as a first-person game but at some point they decided to go with third-person instead. So with all that said, here are some screenshots in first-person.
