How to participate:

During the competition you must be folding for Team 239902

Mind the EVENT START TIMER as it is UTC time zone.

 

Folding is stressful on hardware, and will often break an overclock unless it's been tested with folding. I do not recommend overclocking high end GPUs as the power draw can be extreme while folding. If anything, try tuning for energy efficiency. Casualties happen and EXTREMEHW can not be held accountable if you destroy your hardware while folding.

Been lucky the last couple weeks have been lower temps although near constant rain. Like only high 90-95F though still 75-85F lows. Had a break in the rain yesterday so I took the dingos to swim in the creek and the water actually felt cool around 75F so that was really nice...as I'm watching for gators.

I will not be joining this fold-athon as far as actively folding.  I'm currently running the AI Pro R9700 32GB graphics card, and it uses those horrible 12 pin cables.  I'm afraid of it melting, so I will not be participating.  None have to date that I know of (brand new cards), but I have heard of a 9070 XT melting now with that plug.

I do have lots of cards laying around that are 8pin PCIe (or 6 pin), that I absolutely WOULD trust.  However the systems those are in are currently offline due to a bunch of system re-organizing going on right now at home, working on my home lab server.

The only that burn are probably moron that plug them loose.

I'm mostly worried because I'm using the adapter that came with the card, I don't have a 12 pin capable PSU in the system.  At least I'm not daisy chaining though, I have 3 completely separate 8pin PCIe leads going into mine.

I still worry about that plug though, and I can't replace a $1500 card just like that.

I got the sapphire adapter for mine but i would not be worried since they don't pull 600w like the 5090.

Then you should be fine. Can always undervolt it a bit if you're really concerned. Now if you flashed a way spicier BIOS, I could see you running into some issues.

I really meant to build another rackmount rig to toss in the basement that I could just leave folding all the time but I've been out of town for work constantly. 

 

If I toss a card on the test bench, I have an excuse to relax this weekend and not bench for team cup

Did that the other days with my router.

Had only 1 ever fail on me. Rebooted a few time overclocking. And bam it died.
