...well, lookie here what @ENTERPRISE 's cat dragged in just now - the first of multiple deliveries for  the next12 days or so for a big dual-loop build. That blue stuff on the left is also thermal material (but 1.5mm, slightly thicker) and pre-cut for VRAM...

...Enterprise is probably looking for his cat right now (which is actually on another continent...). Anyway, I fed it ?

@ENTERPRISE Not 100% certain, but it looks like the GTX980Ti/Titan X waterblock will fit the M40's. I would absolutely love to make a massive watercooling project out of them, but the damn waterblocks cost more than the cards.  See Below

I love Watercool Heatkiller and like Bykski (have both, the latter as OEM). However, there's a fellow in another thread who has a Bykski block for his 3090 and after just a few months, the nickel plating is apparently flaking off in one area. This can happen (it did to EKWB years back), but it is obviously a sign of a quality control issue for that batch at least.

Here you go @ENTERPRISE looks like 1.5 or 2mm pads to me.

Now to see if this 980ti waterblock fits, if it does, I will be buying 4 more for a crazy project!

Premium Platinum - Lifetime

Okay, I got this.
Local hardware shop has more 30xx cards in stock... I don't care anymore at this point... :classic_laugh:

But that's really nice @Avacado, does this mean you'll be able to overclock them too? I see you can even solder on extra PCI-e power connectors..

Not sure I would would want to solder anything on these cards. They are quite old at this point. Knock yourself out with the 3 series cards. I'll wait until 4 series or when Mining stops not paying what people want for them and I'm not spending hours trying to figure out where to go just to spend 1500$ that is Ludacris, paying THAT much and having to do THAT much work. At this point it would be easier to have you buy one and pay for shipping.

I was just kidding about the 30xx cards, I'm good for now. They are asking well over 500 more than I paid for my cards, I really hope nobody will buy from them.
Not sure if I would solder on them either, but it's interesting that they had the option available on those cards. Do you know of any model that has more power connectors?

Yes, I think there is a model that comes with a 6 pin in addition to the 8 pin.

Nice one ! Thanks for letting me know bud. I will purchase some new pads soon with a view to "refurbing" the cards prior to their folding action.

So projeck for the day is to get the 5 Tesla's that will be on air completely renewed. Looks like it takes 1 package of 1.5mm for each card @ENTERPRISE Takes about 20-30 minutes per card to do it right. I found that using a TIM spreader will take off the old thermal tape without scratching the cooler.

Old. The TIM was so dry that it cracked and caked off when I tried to remove it!

The otherside (Backplate side) takes 0.5mm on the 12 DIMM areas. I did not bother to replace them, but will at some point.

Thought this might be of interest to you guys. I took a shot in the dark and it worked! I was browsing the fujipoly site and saw an area to request free samples, so I thought, can't hurt to try right? This is the correspondence with my local Fujipoly rep. 17w/MK pads here I come, I also requested the thermal putty. We'll see what they send.

I mean technically I didn't lie. I work for myself and I am a "Systems integrator" and I do replace stock pads with 3rd party choices. I'm actually gitty inside. Never got anything free before computer wise.

Thought you guys would get a laugh out of this. The Fujipoly "sample" came. Box was 2 ft by 2 ft and the sample was 1 inch by 1 inch.
