ICEGIANT PROSIPHON ELITE

I got a test sample from ICEGIANT, and permission to pass it around the forums. If you haven't already contacted me, and you are interested, just P.M. me and I'll get you on the list. Keep in mind that even though the list is maybe less than 20 so far, you figure each person is going to spend a week or so with the cooler, then it might take another week or so to ship it to the next person, so if you are far down the list it could be a couple months before you get your hands on it. I know @mllrkllr88 will be doing an official EXTREMEHW review of this cooler, but this is an informal thing just for fun.

I mounted this on two different rigs. One was a standard vertical gaming mid-tower, and the other was a HAF XB horizontal test bench box.

I have some pictures, screenshots, data, and videos to share. I had a blast testing this product and am thankful for the opportunity. I documented the mounting process and got right into the benchmarks with an emphasis on AIDA64 FPU AVX. I hope you guys find all of this information helpful.

My conclusion is that this cooler had some outstanding performance, as it was able to passively cool my 24/7 overclock, and also cool a massive maximum overclock without throttling. I was able to overclock further than with any of my previous high end air coolers, but the real highlight was the ability to run my normal 24/7 OC with no fans mounted on the ProSiphon, all while not throttling on the AIDA64 AVX FPU test. That test is just brutal, so I can't wait to see what you guys with the very high core count HEDTs can do with this cooler compared to your current cooling solution. I really would like to see a half-width version that can fit into most mid-tower gaming rigs, but still have good enough cooling for overclocking mainstream CPUs.

I took some (very poor) videos. The first 9 videos are what's in the box and mounting. Skip to #10-12 for the Thermal Tests with Passive runs and overclocking. Videos #13 and #14 document the main mounting issue and the solution.

Can't seem to delete this pic copy from the thread, so have another look :)

I wonder how 125w Zen3 would do. Looks like it's pretty close to a custom loop. These coolers all are so big these days!

It's designed for Threadripper really. I was just the one who coordinated the sample so I got first dibs and tested my 3600 since I couldn't obtain anything due to shortages, and I wasn't about to overpay.

If you are interested in playing around with it, send me a P.M. and I'll get you in the queue.

Do testers end up with a free sample of the Ice Giant? Seems like a lot of free effort on the part of enthusiasts only to help a business make their product more efficient. I would try it on the 2950x, but from what I gather it would be a few hours of work.

Nah. What happened was I was inquiring via email about the cooler and ended up talking my way into a free product sample.

Then I convinced them to let me share it with my forum buds. So if anyone wants to play around with it, let me know.

We have about 20 people in queue but I bump you up to the top if you have hot asf hardware to test.

IceGiant loves the idea so they are also going to send us all t-shirts.

They are a tiny start-up company, just a married couple and no other employees. They have been very cool about this and sent us bulk Kryonaut, Kimwipes, Articlean kit, thermocouple and even got a sample for Canada.

Yea I saw the structured list you made on OCN. Again, a TON of work. Move me to the bottom of the list. It sounds like a summer project with my son when I have time off work.

Well really I loosened the test procedure up to pretty much:

"Do what you want with it, and follow my guidelines if you want to. Use my data template if you want to or use your own. Please don't break it" Ironically the guy I picked for Canadian team lead is a bit more strict on rules for his team, but that's ok with me. IceGiant is letting us run this however we please. They are just happy for any free publicity.

It would really be a lot of work for someone who needs to dismount hard tube water cooling. Maybe we can time your slot with your Threadripper before it goes under water.

Depending on where on the list, it could be weeks or months since a person generally wants to spend a week playing with it, then it takes a week to ship to the next person, ect.

Kate from IG told me that internal tests showed that it handled well over 500W of heat and it's estimated that it could handle 900W. We really need someone to get one of the new 280W TR Pros and see how it cooks.

I'll get you on the list and let my Canadian team leader know. He is having trouble finding suitable testers so you would be one of the first on his list to receive as soon as you are ready.

If you need a new test bench, maybe you can build something like I did last week in the cheap.

Hello all,

I just signed up (as recommended by damric). I believe he already mentioned but I'm still looking for additional testers. EDIT* For Canada eh.

Send me a PM if you want to discuss further. All results / feedback are still on OCN but i'm looking to "expand my horizons" for more testers.

Cheers,

Nice review. Impressive to see how well it keeps up with your custom loop (~3c).

I'm not sure if I agree with your con: "It's a big black box with no lighting or style embellishments".

Considering the market is heading into this direction... IceSLEET™ X7 Dual - Iceberg Thermal

I'm glad there are some innovative engineered solutions coming around to the PC market like the Prosiphon elite.
