  1. Looks good! I love the black, white and gold
  2. Make that 6600 CL30/38/38/28. Once I go over 6700 CL30 becomes a bit unstable (benchmarks are fine), though I understand why they don't ship it with those settings It's cool that they sell it like that now, but for us it's not worth "upgrading" until we see kits sold over 7ghz at CL34-ish (one can dream right?)...
  3. Thanks for sharing! I love how they come up with great stuff like this, will try this out for sure
  4. I'll do a fair trade, like a stupid Asus board with an m.2 heatsink over a screw hole
  5. I can do both, but I prefer Mig if I can. As for the aluminium I can go to another shop we have and use their Tig setup, but besides the fact that I need a few hours of practice it's also not my 'own' shop so I don't like to do that. We'll see, one of my coworkers offered to do the alu too which is nice but I prefer to do it myself one day.
  6. Thanks for all the donations @damric but please exclude me from the prizes. Shipping to the Netherlands is too expensive, better make all the US members happy
  7. I love those crimpers, and I'm still going to steal your motherboard... PSU's looking good, though I would assume you'd go with EVGA instead. Any particular reason besides RGB?
  8. Poor hardware that will be tortured
  9. After waiting for a long time because 'reasons' this box is finally here. So I taped together all the parts to get an idea of how it'll look before welding it together. I have all the panels in steel and aluminium, though I don't have the tools to weld the aluminium myself so I think I'll go with steel. Steel will be better to drill and tap holes in the top panel for mounting the waterpumps for the dual loops, and a bit more weight won't be an issue with the upgraded caster wheels. Four mounting holes for some bolts to go into the frame rails, will be a bit hard to mount but I don't think I need to move it that often. Three holes for cables, I'll order some grommets from a local hardware store (holes are cut to fit one of their grommets): A power button between the two PSU's, of which one will be for the water loops and the second PSU will be for the system: The PSU fans can breathe through the holes on the bottom: And this is what the system looks like for now, not much folding going on but a lot of benchmarking instead: There is a lot to do, some of you might have seen the watercooling hardware I bought recently. That'll go into this system too, but I'm not done figuring out where to put it..
  10. Nice @Mr. Fox, I should do that washer mod too next time I take a CPU out of the socket. Just need to find a few nylon washers in this mess called "office"
  11. Haha, I think there is still some bad blood from all those competitions you lost Congrats F, you deserve to be in first after hunting me down for months! Congrats @NBrock
  12. Google tells me it's 6 hours, which means it's the same as my time
  13. Sorry to hear about the damage to the IHS, but 5-7°C is not bad It seems like the little push block from the delid tool slipped over the finger below and damaged your IHS like that because it shouldn't be touching the top part where the IHS meets the cooler. It's easy to slide the push block around, so while I installed the first delid victim it was almost on the IHS instead of next to it. 20220421_184119.mp4 The G7400 is now delidded too, and I lapped the copper IHS to be sure it was as flat as I want it to be (which it was)
  14. Nice read @J7SC_Orion, sometimes it's good to reflect and be content with what we have which for most of us is a lot of high end hardware. I received a notification for an EVGA 3090Ti FTW3 Ultra the other day, but after taking a good look at the price with tax and shipping it wasn't hard to decline the offer. Part of me was sad because I love to own the best of the best but on the other hand it was too much money for something I don't even need. A CPU for 10% of the money is worth a lot more points on hwbot If it wouldn't be for hwbot and what I've been doing for F@H I would be happy with my 5800x and a 3090, the 12900KF system hasn't been used as a main system at all and all the other hardware is mainly for folding or benchmarking. I had a conversation with @Avacado about what I invested in hardware for hwbot, and the only real expensive thing was the 12900KF system. Besides that it's the cheap old hardware like a 6870 or a few GT210 cards which gives me way more joy than an expensive 3090 or possible Ti... It for sure takes up a lot of your time if you want to be high up the ranks, even in the enthusiast league. I can't begin to imagine what it would take to battle for first in the extreme or elite leagues. It depends, but usually I prefer spending a bit more money and less time and most of it has got to do with getting older, and I'm only in my 30's
  15. Sounds like a fun little project, can't wait to see what you come up with
  16. I don't know if it's acceptable for the health of the card, but I know I wouldn't do it. I'd look at a way to separate the cards, but I don't know if that's possible in your case. With a 3090 for instance I like to move the card away from the motherboard with a riser so it has all the airflow, in my main system it made a 7°C difference after vertically mounting it with the same ambient and fan speed.
  17. Little bit of an improvement on my 5800x. I had to play with this one for the Challenger Division II Round I competition on HWBOT, so I gave CPUZ another try. All core 4875mhz, 671.5 single and 7136.2 multi 7807.7 total. (Previous multi was 6774) Maybe I should update my bios too
  18. My 7700k has the same LM from years ago and is still fine, though I never really stress it Thanks, though I'm in third already As for the questions, never hesitate to ask them and now you have all the answers in one post: Technically it shouldn't dry out, but it does react with almost every metal out there. As far as I'm concerned you could let it sit as long as your temps are fine, and if you do a major system overhaul you can always redo it. I use Kryonout Extreme between the waterblock and the IHS, I've never tried LM and if I would I'll have to lap everything to a mirror finish for sure! I don't think you'd have to change the IHS after a refresh, but this Rockitcool IHS has more surface area and is pure copper so it should be a decent upgrade over the stock IHS. I'm using a Watercool Heatkiller IV copper block which has been lapped, there were a few deep spots in the block.
  19. I'm working on 3 cores + HT, so not much information on the max temp for now. As far as the process, I only did a 7700k before this one. With the Rockitcool kit it's really easy to do, great quality kit and everything besides LM is included. No need to be afraid of messing up a CPU if you follow the instructions or join us on Discord so we can do it together. I tried preheating the IHS but the hole in the delid tool is too little for my heatgun. Even without heating it was not bad, though it's a bit scary at first. That's rapid glue, a common brand over here in Europe but not so much on the other side of the ocean I guess
  20. Sorry to hear this @Soulpatch... The only thing I can suggest besides all you've tried is trying the card in a different system and see what it does there. So outside of Windows it works, and even the login screen/safe mode is fine but inside Windows itself it's not working?
  21. I feel like I've been the one trying to slow you down for the past few days Also, I finally delidded the 12900KF and relidded it with the Rockitcool copper IHS and some Conductonaut.
  22. One day you'll notice that your board is missing....
  23. I was looking for a subforum to start this topic but I couldn't find the correct one. I'd be willing to do it though
