  1. Picture borrowed from google, will be replaced asap For a while I've been the owner of a Corsair Obsidian 1000D case. It was the idea that this monster was going to house my main system, an AMD 3950x paired with 2 3090's in NVLink with water cooling. Finding a board with the proper spacing for an EVGA NVLink bridge is fun or very expensive, so I ditched that plan a while back. I could have used a Quadro NVLink bridge, but that was a big step as an EVGA fanboy. The case moved to the side and disappeared under a pile of boxes from other projects and the mess my regained interest in benchmarking (HWBOT) creates. After some applied pressure by @Avacado and @J7SC_Orion I decided it was time to dig up this case from under the mess and start working on it. Plans for this system: This is going to be a dual loop water cooled benchmark and fun system. Hardware (subject to change): CPU: Intel i9 12900KF Mainboard: ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 Hero Memory: 32GB G.Skill DDR5 Trident Z5 6400Mhz CL32 PSU: Corsair AX1600i Storage: Samsung 980Pro 1TB GPU: somewhere between a GTX580 and a 3090 (pair?) CPU loop (don't mention overkill on EHW!): 2x Alphacool 480/45 xflow rad 1x Alphacool 420/45 rad BP fittings PrimoChill PrimoFlex Advanced LRT 19/13mm black tubing AquaComputer Ultitube D5 150 16x Corsair ML120 RGB 6x Corsair ML140 RGB Watercool Heatkiller IV w/ Socket 1700 Backplate and conversion kit GPU loop (TBD): External radiator on a stand AquaComputer D5 Reservoir BP fittings Mayhems Ultra Clear 19/13mm tubing Koolance QD4's Update 1: Water cooling gear. 2. Awesome pictures! Congrats on the unique case, great find and I totally understand why you went with that one
  3. I bought this one for fun: ASUS ROG Matrix HD 7970 Platinum Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database WWW.TECHPOWERUP.COM AMD Tahiti, 1100 MHz, 2048 Cores, 128 TMUs, 32 ROPs, 3072 MB GDDR5, 1650 MHz, 384 bit
  4. Sorry to hear that, another offering to the hardware gods
  5. Don't do it Sweet, it'll make a big difference for sure! I'm waiting to put my blocks back on the 3090 until the (hopefully) Rev 1.0 FTW3 card comes back. I had it on and it made a big difference in memory temps, I never really looked at core temp change with the backplate. With your chilled water it'll be cold though, I bet it helps
  6. Really interesting! I don't know if I will ever use it, but I've had a few messages about this card from others too who've been checking this out. So if you'd like to share it here I bet it will be used at some point. Thanks in advance
  7. Thanks for linking that! I happened to read that somewhere some time ago though, so I checked the serial number on their page and I was lucky The memory is 6400mhz CL32 32GB paired with a 12900KF. Brings out the artist in you Danku, besides some hickups during installation it's been great so far!
  8. I should order me one of those label makers too, it's a bit chaotic under my desk and thanks to @Avacado I'm now the proud (and bankrupt) owner of the above
  9. It was the first thing I had in mind when I ordered that AC unit, happy it worked. Still not as good as that phase cooler, that's way cooler Yeah, it depends on how much hardware you have though and what kinda cars you are into. I don't think I've spent as much money on cars as I did on hardware
  10. Yeah, it's one of those common lines they teach kids. So I guess he saw you as a kid too Bant.
  11. @Mr. Fox That's a nice result! 750W is a bit too hot for my cooling solutions though.. After a little modification I'm able to cool down a 3070Ti to 10°C idle and 45°C load on air. Temperature sensor is in the exhaust airflow now, so it just doesn't shut off.
  12. Gold I think it was Steve from GN telling a similar story about the origin of his dewar.
  13. Why do we always need to work... Would have been so much fun messing around together with those pots! I bet I could learn a thing or 2 (read: a few million) from you Ha, I almost clicked Tip me instead of multi quote But with a pot you could move away from your rival...
  14. I might have forgotten to specifically request it Second RMA is approved, and specifically requested a rev 1.0. I know the AC stops cooling at around 16°C, though that's a lot better than the usual temps here. I did a few runs on the 2080Ti system, managed to get the card to idle at around 16°C with the AC blowing directly at the radiator. Phase coolers are awesome, but I'll stay away from that for now Thanks to @Avacado I managed to bump up my score by a lot. Still not where I want to be, and lots of stuff we need to investigate. Pretty clear that the Core clock matters a lot here (sometimes only loading the GPU's for 60%).
  15. Maybe, but I'd prefer if the avatar would be a GTX580 on fire instead of an ASUS X299 Sage/10G board
  16. Enough power in that wall socket (16A 230V), but it produces a nice flow of warm air Biggest issue is the 1 slot space in-between the cards. AC unit is on the way for some "air cooled" benchmarks. Sadly they are both still rev 0.1, pulling 160W combined from the pcie slots.. So I'm afraid to use anything other than the stock bios, I don't want to start a fire with the x299 board
  17. Needs better cooling and a decent CPU overclock to be higher up the rankings... Still nice to finally have the 2 cards linked https://hwbot.org/submission/4923057_
  18. Congrats with 1 billion points @franz
