  1. Quick update: After I sorted it all out per above (with vers. 2004 correctly showing in Windows 10), the 'regular' Windows update now finally also wants to install the full 2004 update...again (1%...2%...grrr). Windows update missed it before and I went the route described above. Microsoft... :angry_throw:
  2. ...as near as I can tell, the 100.7% happened under load, the 185.4% under 'idle'
  3. ...truth be told, I have NOT bought a GPU WITHOUT custom PCB for personal use for well over a decade (forget company Quadro stuff, they made me do it by kidnapping my dog !). With 'stock' 350W (recall our NVidia A100 400W discussion elsewhere on EHW) which is well before you kick in MSI AB power target, I would not want to even try a top-level Ampere w/o water-cooling, or w/o custom PCB, it would be so frustrating...time to talk to the accounting dep't about Galax and / or KP 3090xx edition
  4. ...well, I downloaded the latest HWInfo beta / 'deviations' and checked my TR 2950X (that particular Ryzen gen not mentioned yet)...in any case, per below, my MSI X399 Creator is either power-starving that CPU (bios settings @ 4.275 all-c, 1.325v) or everything is just fine (meaning it never dropped below 100%). Bench for load used was CPUz bench loop - not the most terrifying, but consistent enough...
  5. ...so $150 for an air cooler I won't use, and another $150++ for a w-block ? May be there will be another set of nice factory w-blocked, custom PCB cards I will go for, unless I skip Ampere for Hopper altogether... Be that as it may, the 'PC Gamer' article had that nice table below...looks like may be Titan 'AmpTX' might be moving upmarket, with a new top-gamer card in-between...allows even more price differentiation for NVidia to maximize revenues.
  6. people probably were happier not knowing, along the lines of 'ignorance is bliss'. Then again, if the gist of the article is true, mobo manufacturers shouldn't fudge like that to begin with
  7. ...had a bit of time to run some CPU and GPU benches with vers.'2004'; nothing too definitive, but it looks like Win 10 '2004' is a bit faster in my 'short' test suite for both proc and GPU, apart from booting much, much faster. Of course the version upgrade ruined my prior custom desktop (colour and other) settings and is obsessed by Microsoft Edge, but other than that...so far, so good
  8. Tx...yeah, kind of weird. I'm backed up with work projects right now but looking forward to solve that mystery...going through MS Web site will be my next step (rather than repeatedly going through my 'internal' Windows Update sheet which tells me that everything is up-to-date and nothing new to download) EDIT - ...while the regular 'Windows Update' still didn't pick up version '2004', the recommended web-based Windows 10 Update Assistant did...everything working fine so far, including displayed version number
  9. ...banned coz in that case, wishing you and the Gus and Leo show many more decades by going back to black and white tube tvs...
  10. ...I thought I upgraded my AMD TR system to 2004...downloaded it through Windows Update, went through the install cycle on boot-down and boot-up, and everything is working fine, other than it still shows as '1909'. Also, the update was mostly about Intel microcode issues ?!
  11. Banned coz calamity ...ran out of high-octane coffee first thing this morning right before trying to finish a big project write-up
  12. ...exactly, IF (!) Hopper turns out to be a chiplet/mGPU based design, then NVidia will do the development in-house, a la DLSS 2.0 (3.0)
  13. ...GPUs like the 2080 Ti KingPin still use EVBot, though EVBot itself is out of production (there's a slightly less featured software version available for oc'ing various parameters of that card). Folks are always trying to buy the real EVBots used, with some sellers offering them at $200++
  14. Haha...truth be told though, each and every GPU above ends up in a mundane working system after their moment in the performance sun, or at least as backup. Ever seen a new office intern trying to figure out what an EVBot is for :p
  15. ...let's see: NV 600 series - bought 5x (!) custom PCBs, yeah baby AMD 79xx - bought 4x custom PCBs (oh yeah, custom Bios @ 1.38v) NVidia 78x Ti series -( bought 4x PCBs, EV Bot, yeah baby) NVidia 98x Ti series - (bought 4x PCBs, EV Bot, yeah baby) NVidia 10x series...(pass, no thank you) Nvidia 2080 TI custom w-cooled series, bought 2x, wow - love it ! NVidia 3080 TI series, what the f**k ...a fool and his money...to be continued...
  16. Yeah...& tx - that will cut down my time significantly looking for different ISOs or thumb drives on my systems, only to wait for more update screens after I load those
  17. ...certainly hope you recognize your dawggo - since it has been eating your chickinz for years, and always begging for more ban chickinz substitutez
  18. Sure the artwork will sell...also, we can put Leo & Gus on the payroll for a new art project - lay down a white canvas on the floor, put chickinz on a hook and line connected to a computer fan above their heads, have Leo & Gus walk through thick paint and then let the chase begin. We can sell a limited print run and call it "Life's Struggles of Want" ban
  19. 50 mill EURO is a nice budget for a 'decent' yacht At time of writing...: 1 EUR =1.10161 USD 1 USD = 0.907759 EUR ban
  20. Thanks gents ! I use some Bitspower fittings (including QDs) which shouldn't represent a problem then w/ ZMT and similar. But I am not sure though about a pile of older Swiftech compression fittings that can get tight even with advanced Primochill PrimoFlex LRT. I should order some EPDM / ZMT and just try it out with all the fitting I have.
