  1. ...picked up some more 10-pwm / Sata powered fan hubs and also a couple of tubes of MX5 for back-up...w-cooling parts assortment table is getting several stories deep ...couldn't fit two jugs each of distilled and deionized water I bought on the same trip on the table...
  2. ...for VRAM, VRM (not GPU die)... ...
  3. ...finally managed to get both setups updated with the 40+ GB '''patch'''. At one point, MS Azure servers were wheezing / throttling like crazy (to about 1/10th normal speed, while the rest of the network checked out fine on this end) but the result is worth it: better fps, improved graphics, much-improved world map (a biggie for me), and new planes such as the Cessna float plane. I might even try out 8K native before other scaling adjustments
  4. ...Nice ! Looks like you're going for the black and brass/gold look; hope to see the final results. FYI on ZMT tubing: Make sure to flush it several times before install, including with very warm water (final flushes w/ distilled)
  5. ...I'm still currently stuck in Azure server hell for that 40 GB+ patch
  6. x24 fans gets you half-way there
  7. Banning that Sig guy for rigging everything ...also banned: rising coffee prices
  8. ...I slowed down ...got counselling ...only have 48 of what you speaketh of
  9. ...what to do when it is too hot in the city ? Fly to the local mountains...also: experiments 'for science' ! ALL IS WELL THAT ENDS WELL !
  10. ...that's a nice, cleverly disguised Miata ...and looking at the Ontario plate, I used to live in Ontario in the snow (+gravel+salt+brine) belt before moving to BC...hope you have an additional vehicle for the winter months
  11. ...can't accept such an overly generous offer Also, ravens are going to have some fun in the ravens' nest ! 4x pairs
  12. ...how many cats for one 3080 Ti FTW HC ?
  13. 'grats ! You'll have fun with that one ! I love my 6900 XT - not quite as fast as the 3090 Strix system, but somehow, more fun w/ oc'ing ...water-cooling made a difference re. sustaining the custom MPT 400 W mod...MPT 'FTW'
  14. ...got a collection of the 'narrower' Thermalright Extreme pads already ranging from 0.5mm to 2mm (good stuff !) - these wider ones are for the back-plates of two GPUs
  15. ...I share your frustration...per below, the EK backplate for the 3090 Strix was already successfully RMAed (can you spot the peeling nickel ); I also replaced the EK main / front block given the contact area w/ the 3090 die ...not sure what this is called, but it isn't called quality control
  16. fleabay prices for new custom 3090s and 6900XT are coming down a bit also, but less so then the lower-tier models, in percentage terms. I'm sure glad that I got my Ampere and BigNavi at a lower MSRP (and no tariff here) than is still being advertised at regular vendors, much less eBay (there, still hefty premium). On Ethereum (and select other) mining, some big mining farms in China are indeed shutting down and unloading, ahem, *used* GPUs (mostly 3060s +-). Other big Chinese mining farms are apparently relocating in Kazakhstan...
  17. I just went through an upgrade cycle for most work and play hardware - and finally upgraded all machines to Win 10 Pro (apart from one trusty Win 7 64 which still - btw - still gets important security updates, like last week ). While most of my equipment will likely meet TPM 2.o one way or the other, I have no intention to update to Win 11 in the immediate future - the leaked version of Win 11 didn't seem to have a performance advantage and I don't like that 'mobile phone' interface...Luddites unite & long live XP Pro 64 !
  18. ...sad part is that much of the ransom_ware is based on US NSA code that was stolen and sold on the dark web
