I finished up all the w-cooling pump and rad tubing connections today up to one end of the Koolance QD4s - everything is done in reverse on this build, for both mobos on the TT Core P8. Per below, the w-cooling table still has to be pretty_fied, but it works...'Raven A' colour scheme will be close to 'Raven B' > here. I also had a bit of a scare via a big Oops moment - was trying to Dremel off some protruding screw heads while upside down, slipped and zapped one of the Primoflex LRT with the Dremel cutting wheel ; fortunately ok re. leaks

While Raven B (posted earlier in this thread) and its two mobos have all the rads and pumps onboard the TT Core P5, Raven A (pics soon of the TT Core P8) has a separate mobile table w/wheels connected via Koolance QD4s for cooling...total of 2520x60+ rad space divided into two banks (one for each mobo / GPU combo)...wiring for 42 fans via fan hubs and 5x D5s all checked out - which is a good thing as I don't want to do that again anytime soon
-
..."42 is an even bigger pain in the ... " - yup, it most certainly is was ! But I wired up all 42 of them (via fan hubs) in two banks, one for each system. Amazingly, they all work as intended Daily setups are: - 1340x60+ rads for the 5950x / 3090 Strix / 3x D5s - 1200x60+ rads for the 3950x / 6900XT / 2x D5s Main cooling tubes have Koolance QD4s, so I can change / add to either of the two banks of rads. Each bank's fans can be disconnected via just one SATA; and all the cooling for both mobos is mounted to my little mobile table /wheels.

long live Nieuw-Amsterdam ! ban Swiss cheese in favour of Gouda -
Yup....AND upside-down, too !

...just so you know, the earth is round and there really is no 'side' to all that water

Banned coz...not even close. There's a certain Portuguese / French / UK person at another ban thread who puts us all to shame...he claims to be from a time long gone by... -

...that €1400 for the 3080 Ti FTW3 included tax (like in EU), but no matter - all five 3080 Ti (FTW3 and other) have already been sold now (only took 3 hrs / weekday / working hours / personal pick-up only). I got both my 3090 Strix and the 6900XT OC at that place for low MSRP and no pre-ordering; just have to hit the right time for a visit after the daily delivery from the warehouse to see what's what. These days though, 3090s still seem to be mostly MIA, at least the custom 3x8 pin I like.

Tx - mine aren't the RGB ML either, just the regular ones plugged into Commander FP /Sata / 10 hub with some Arctic P12s that work just fine on the signal - have been trying to avoid installing that iCue HAL spyware. Solution might be to buy more Arctic P12 value packs ! FYI, stopped by a local outlet of a national computer chain...surprisingly, they had 5 (!) 3080 Ti on the shelf which just got there, including a FTW3 for EURO 1,400...we made a bet as to whether they'll last beyond tomorrow evening (in person shopping for that product only)
-
...how do you control the ML fans ? I've got 9x ML 120s in another, older MSI system ? All other types of pwm fans plugged into the fan controller work as directed, but the MLs always are on full tilt, even on the same pwm signal
-
The dual mobos on the front of Raven 'A' are cooled by a total of 42 Arctic P12 pwm pst rad fans (push-pull)...ever tried to wire up 42 fans ?
-
@Bastiaan_NL , @BWG ...remember my Arctic P12 pwm pst value pack addiction problem ? Well, after mounting 42 of these, I only have a few 5-packs left for a dual mobo build project

I hope GT 7 (and others like Forza 5) will still allow for some single-player / roaming ! -
...time to pick and choose the 1/2 x 3/4 fittings for both Ravens' Nest 'A' setups. Some of the fittings are not in the pic as they're currently on the test bench used for leak-testing

...re. casters, 100% agreement ! ...I've learned it is best to have my custom builds (some close to 100 pounds w/ temperate glass) and all related peripherals on wheels. Apart from the weight, none of these are regular 'boxes' and tricky to pick up re. their irregular shape and sensitive components on the back.

...even most modern cars have fly-by-wire controls, such as throttle, breaking and now even steering ...I do miss the immediacy of the old carb 'throttle linkages' though on a hi-po 6.6L engine. @UltraMega depending on your settings, NOT starting on an airport runway but instead elsewhere in mid-air usually doesn't kick in the autopilot.

..."Miscellaneous" to finish up my build, including solder, flux (for the flux capacitors), industrial Velcro and Lian Li 40cm diffused RGB strips

Final assembly of Ravens' Nest A has started as all parts have been updated, tested and leak-checked Diesel power : 6900XT and 3090 Strix OC w/ their new heatsinks (and lots of thermal putty everywhere) below. Strix is still pushing more clocks, but final config will have to wait for the new custom cooling system to be connected (1680x60+ for the Strix & 5950X; 1200x60+ for the 6900XT & 3950X) instead of the single 360/60 of the testbench. Then I can also switch the vBios from stock to the KPE 520 (or 1Kw ? ) for the 3090 Strix OC, while the 6900XT will get MPT PL of 430W

VERY nice, but needs more RTX cores

...love the temps at Port Royal w/ updated 3090 Strix block, even w/ a small test loop / single rad for CPU and GPU. Thermal putty has the advantage that it a.) fills the nooks and crannies that otherwise could trap air and b.) depending on the amount used, it can dramatically increase the contact surface area of the heat source (ie GDDR6X VRAM chip) with the cooling block ...Port Royal run after multiple heat-cycles below:
-
...now it was the 3090 Strix' turn for block build-up for Ravens' Nest 'A'...less custom work on the front than was needed for the 6900XT shown above but extensive mods on the backplate...with superb results: The HWInfo temps shown were for a 3DM Port Royal run, using the same temporary loop I used for the 3950X / 6900 XT, w/ a single 360 for both 5950X and 3090 Strix w/ fans at 800 rpm ! It can only get better w/ the huge cooling system destined for Ravens Nest 'A'. That conforming thermal putty (10 W/mK) sure is nice, as long as it does not deteriorate, which it is not known to do - time will tell though. I used the thermal putty again for the VRAM (both sides) as well as the back of the GPU, plus added the custom cooler on the back...I have an extra backplate and some universal GPU block for -cooling the back, but so far it is clear that I don't need it. I used Gelid GC Extreme paste for the die and Thermalright thermal pads for the power stages...strategic locations also got a sprinkling of MX5 for good measure. I've done custom w-cooling on GPUs for a decade or so, but I still get nervous for the first boot-up after taking such hard-to-come-by custom PCB cards apart and modding them.
-
...busy now finalizing Raven A after Raven B was recently completed. One issue delaying things a bit on 'A' was that I was sent the wrong water-block for the 6900 XT which is a custom 3x 8 pin PCB while the waterblock is only for a different 2x 8 pin variant - IN SPITE OF the labeling. Others had the same issue and there a THW thread on it. The correct version I could exchange for has been 'mia' for almost three months now, only stating 'available soon' for all this time... Dremel tool and Bosch power drill to the rescue as the 3x 8 pin not only has the extra power connector but also extra caps and phases (!) and the PCB is longer. While I was at it, I also completely modded the GPU backside cooling. With this many mods, 'measure thrice, cut once' !! After the 'operation', temps dropped by over 45 C so all is well that ends well...
