  1. ...tried the Pitts Special again...hyper-sensitive on the controls, but there's something about biplanes I find really appealing ?
  2. ...a new rumour about the old rumour...salt shaker included source
  3. ...I adore Cyberpunk 2077's graphics and managed to get a fairly stable setup on two 4K systems...still, during a couple of their VARIOUS burst-fire Hotfixes and patches, I twice had the problem whereby the game wouldn't work at all anymore AFTER it automatically installed the latest patches (Steam)...it was working great BEFORE those patches... ...I emailed CDR for help on January 24th - but didn't even get a reply until March 3rd...the reply opened with an apology "Thank you for contacting us. I apologize for the late response - we received a large number of inquires..." By that time, I had figured out what the problem was (the Hotfixes were corrupting 1 or 2 of my 'local' files), but still... ...it seems CDR bit off more than I could chew w/ CP2077, at least w/o commensurate support structures. It also seems like it suffered from 'feature creep by committee' during development which kept on delaying launch and complicating debugging and support matters...the PS4/XBox 'compatibility' probably made huge business sense in revenue forecasts, but added a whole new envelope of problems, IMO.
  4. It's alive ! It's alive...after various delays, finally got to bleed the whole loop thing and try out the 3090 Strix OC (and for that matter the 3950X) on w-cooling for the first time...took long enough coz of some injuries, but now ? ? ? ...temps are fantastic ...build log coming soon...
  5. ...I'm certainly not an expert on 2.5 inch drives (nvme, other), but from what I've read, I would stick with TLC or lower, meaning avoiding QLC (for now). So a nice 2TB TLC nvme with s.th. like TLC could fit the bill. If you win lotto, go for the absolute best (I have U.2 capable mobos, but there are M.2 > U.2 converters out there) ??
  6. ...depictions of those blueish thermal pad strips w/ their double-sided 'removable' foil make me cringe...a lot ! ...w-cooled 2080 Ti are big, but 3090s are massive...then again, re. clearance problems, you fine gents have to learn to think build outside the box tip/side note re. a rare Covid-19 benefit in the midst of all the horror it is creating: There are many more places now doing custom acrylic 'barriers' at much better prices than before (ie. those you see at the cashier)...I found a place to make a custom 'top' rectangular enclosure for me ?
  7. ...irony is that I'm using those very Arctic P12s to replace my usual GTs (3k rpm) and Sunon server fans (5k rpm)...2x Arctic P12 for each one of those keeps the performance but lowers noise sound dramatically
  8. ...are you saying I have an Arctic P12 addiction problem ...?...but I only have 31 of them (for now...?)
  9. ...replenishing the Arctic P12 pwm value pack supply for other projects
  10. ...should have enough 1/2 id - 3/4 od already, but just in case I get sloppy with my loop dimensions...
  11. ...yup ! And apart from direct sales, the intermediary mining suppliers are no slouch either when it gets to sucking up Ampere, Big Navi and the like...
  12. ...multi-functional, even ! Part of it could server as a wine rack ?
  13. ...almost perfect ! The only thing you forgot is the de-icing switch ? ...this calls for...
  14. ...using four fan hubs w/ sata and up to 10 pwm each
  15. ...wasn't as bade as what you describe, perhaps also because fortunately, the 3k GT fan was on pull rather than push ? Also, managed to cut myself three times yesterday with new carpet knife blades ? I'm normally not that clumsy, but there are days when I should have stayed in bed ...
  16. One thing is for sure - it is good to see some solid competition among chip vendors...though as the referenced article states, "This is definitely not just saying that the Apple Silicon is better than the highly praised Ryzen 9 5000 series processors, as clearly both of the AMD parts can obliterate the M1 rival in cross-platform rating where a “composite” of tests are utilized to stress the processor. The biggest takeaway to be had from this performance is that Apple’s first attempt to take on AMD and Intel in this arena resulted in the first-generation ARM-based M1 SoC smashing benchmarks left, right, and center." Still, Apple's M1 is a powerhouse and can only get better from here...the one question in my mind, given Apple's ARM design (same for another new chip, by and for Amazon) what will happen to the ARM libraries in terms of competition if NVidia succeeds in taking over Arm Ltd.
  17. Those are some nice shots ! 'Messing' with time of day and weather can really add a lot of visual spice to a given scene... Below are re-posts of three of my all-time favs with altered time-of-day...
  18. ...I once had a finger tip caught in a 3k rpm GentleTyphoon, a bit of blood splatter on the wall, but both fingertip and the GT survived
  19. ...why, doesn't everybody ? ? ...from 60 Hz to 72 Hz (via DisplayPort cable)
  20. ...yes, a custom frame with coarse screen door maze from HomeDepot
  21. ...yeah, but it did involve trade-offs...also the desk computer is connected to our 55 inch IPS HDR (4K up to 72 Hz oc) in the m-bedroom so I sold the build idea as a 'tv enhancement'. FS23020 and Cyberpunk2077 look stunning on this.
  22. ...I wasn't going to put my usual go-to_s like 3K GentleTyphoons or 5k Sunons in our m-bedroom...I would never "hear the end of it" hehe
  23. ...a little desk build (in progress) for our master bedroom...
