  1. You mean the guy who created Facebook for the sole purpose of "rating" women at his college, allegedly said "Yeah, so if you ever need info about anyone at Harvard, just ask. I have over 4000 emails, pictures, addresses, SNS. People just submitted it, I don't know why. They "trust me", dumb ****s" and in 2010 said "Privacy is no longer a social norm" wouldn't put much effort into making sure user data is secure and private? I don't believe it.
  2. I promised myself I'd get both left side ones replaced today and I have done it. Now I just need to get some 17/18 inch wheels to fit on it to open up my tyre choice significantly.
  3. I removed the rear strut that I put in the rear and put the front one in. Turns out putting the front strut in the front is a lot easier than putting the rear strut in the front.
  4. I've managed to get the rear strut in, I also noticed that I'm a big idiot and put the other rear strut in the front so now I have to take that one out. I explained on the podcast how I managed to do that which should be out in the next couple of days or it should still be on the VOD on Twitch if you can't wait for that, I can link it then. But in the mean time, I did put the bolt in the other way which I don't think should make a difference once torqued down. It just makes it a lot easier this way. It turns out I can just push the ARB out of the way which does make it much easier to get out but near enough impossible to get back in the "correct" way, hence me putting it in backwards. I didn't get any pictures this time. I did run out of time again today so all the progress I have made is just getting the rear strut in. hopefully tomorrow I will have enough time to remove the one I put in the front so I can put the correct one in. It's also going to be a pain to adjust the ride height more than a few mm once these are installed. It seem the best way to adjust the ride height is to turn the entire bottom of the strut which means basically removing it every time I want to make adjustments so for now I'm just eyeballing the one side for ride height, hope it's correct, then I'm going to measure it and get the other side the same height. I do know some race mechanics who do full race car setups so I'm going to get them to adjust it properly for me once the car is ready for an MOT. I have no idea how much that is going to cost for them to set it up since it's going to be more than just an alignment, which will also need to be done. These mechanics are the only ones I trust to do it properly The problem I have is they are extremely rusted and I don't think I'll be able to get them off without having to either use an impact gun which I'm not going to buy now or drill them out which I'm also not going to do because then I'd have to buy replacement bolts. But thanks for the suggestion.
  5. More updates: I have acquired a "workstation" so now it's professional! The only downside is now I have to charge myself £60/hr so this is going to get very expensive very quickly. Luckily, I will also be earning £60/hr from this. I did manage to get the bolt out, but the ARB is in the way so now I have to take that off as well which is going to be a pain. I was hoping I wouldn't have to remove it but it's not going to be possible to remove the bolt entirely. I also have a demonstration of the soundproofing using a MacBook Pro at max volume + some Eurobeat video0(6).mov
  6. Don't forget, we are livestreaming these as well on https://www.twitch.tv/extremehw on Sundays at 19:00 EST as well as having aftershows that generally go on for about 1 hour or so.

  8. I managed to make some progress and nearly died at the same time. I need to remove this bolt in order to remove the suspension, however it is completely stuck. I'm hoping it's because of the anti-roll bar making it much harder to remove but I may need to cut the bolt out which is going to be a pain, not only because I don't have the tools to do it, but also to find a replacement bolt that's correct. The upper control arm also seems to be rusted completely through which is annoying because it's really hard to find a replacement one and chances are the other side is completely rusted through as well. I did find a website that sells them for a reasonable price, however they are US based so import cost is going to be pretty high. video0(5).mov This happened to the jack, a lot of the thread is now missing and it can't even support itself, let alone a car. Luckily I already had one jackstand on the front and the other side hadn't been lifted yet. The car also has near enough 50:50 weight distribution so I could just pick the car up despite it weighing nearly 1700kg with relative ease and I got someone to put a jackstand under the rear. While doing this, I also discovered the front brake doesn't work any more. I'm guessing it's just seized pistons as the brake pedal still feels "fine" and there's still a lot of brake fluid. I can't make any more progress until I get a new jack in the post which I should have on Wednesday, but most likely Thursday.
  9. I wouldn't be surprised if out of those 160 million subscribers, almost all of them are just there for the free games/Fortnite. Their store is still no where near up to the standards of Steam. Even Uplay has a better storefront. If Epic really wants to compete properly against Steam, they should offer something that Steam doesn't. At the moment, EGS is just another digital storefront. Aside from fixing the storefront, offer a subscription service for example. $5/month and you have unlimited access to all games they offer. If 10% of the users pay for that, that's then an extra $80M/month and will likely bring in more people to use EGS.
  10. I have progressed some more, this time I had a whole 20 minutes to work on my car and do some gardening. I hate this. The days that have good weather, something comes up and I can't work on the car. Then when I can work on the car, I get 15-20 minutes then it starts raining even though the weather says it won't.
  11. Another update, I moved the sound insulation and it turns out I don't need to remove the parcel shelf which is going to save a lot of time. Too bad I don't have the time to work on this today otherwise I could have the rest of the suspension changed today. Semi-related: The sound insulation is incredibly heavy.
  12. Between 100-300Mbps down, 10-30Mbps up and 40-60ms on a good day. Around the same speed on a cloudy/rainy day with much higher ping. Musk and his companies have a long history of promising way more than they can deliver and when they do deliver, they have some technicality that makes correct. The Model S being able to do 0-60 in under 2 seconds which with current road tyre tech is not physically possible. If you read the small print, it can actually get to 60 in under 2 seconds, but it's 5-60 on an extra grippy drag strip.
  13. I have made progress! And then bad weather came in and I had to stop. I managed to get a full 15 minutes of time working on it. This bolt here is the problem. I thought there was threads in the chassis that it goes into, but it doesn't, There's a nut on the other side that has come loose and I can't get to it. I just used brute force to remove the upper part of the back seat. I can at least see the top of the rear suspension now. I just need to remove the parcel shelf without damaging it which is the next challenge here.
  14. Starlink is going exactly the way I said it would a couple of years ago when they promised sub-20ms 1Gbps down/up.
  15. Apple has already proved that ARM is the way forward. The M1 in the MacBook Air, the slowest and cheapest laptop Apple offer, not only performs significantly better than the i7 in my MacBook Pro, it also produces a lot less heat and uses a lot less power. We just need flawless x86 emulation and it could work on Windows just as well.
  16. We are going to do these live from now on as well! Start time is roughly 19:00 EST on Sundays at www.twitch.tv/extremehw. There will also be a notification in the discord when we go live.
  17. It gets recorded on Sundays at various times, usually 19:00 Eastern time.
  18. Deciding to go live on Twitch was a last minute thing. It ended up being a pretty good test to see if it will be worth doing from now on.

  20. Honestly, after that, I'd leave as well. The higher ups took his game and just destroyed it.
