  1. I don't know about non-SteamVR headsets, or even the Vive, but the Index does a very good job at smoothing out frame rates and simulating 90fps to make the games playable without making you retaste your breakfast. I play ETS2 and ATS in VR at 30fps in cities, 50fps on highways in VR. For me, it only gets really bad in some areas of some cities where the FPS drops below 30. I imagine it's going to be the same thing with FS2020. The real test would be Chicago o'Hare. That airport will cripple even the best computers.
  2. But how much overall? It's my understanding that basically all OEMs are still using only Intel CPUs. It is nice to see the competition though. The improvements in CPUs in both power and price has been excellent for consumers in recent years. I just wish AMDs GPU department would pull their finger out. The 1080Ti was released over 3 years ago and AMD still don't have a mainstream GPU that can compete with it.
  3. The main issue is the GPU requirement. I think AMD still don't have a mainstream card that can compete with a 1080 and the 2070 performance outside of real time ray tracing are very close according to benchmarks on Anandtech.
  4. VR for this has just entered beta which is neat. It is closed beta and you do have to sign an NDA though. It's also just available for Windows Mixed Reality headsets for now. Availability to other headsets is coming soon™. Minimum requirements are pretty high which is expected. Windows 10 update 1909 DX11 i5 4460/R3 1200 GTX 1080 or AMD equivalent with 8GB VRAM 16GB system memory
  5. Not a game, but I want to see how made PPD one of these can get. A 3080 can get over 6 million PPD.
  6. Hopefully the move will go smoothly ?
  7. I wouldn't be surprised if most EU laws end up being adopted here anyway.
  8. I'm using a single RTX 2070. My actual PPD isn't actually going to be near that high, I am going to pause it every once in a while so I can play some games.
  9. I was getting WUs that were giving me 1.4-1.5M PPD during that big hype thing a few months ago, I'm getting close to 2M now
  10. Assassins Creed has never been the most optimized game, but it might be worth adding as it is a popular game. Another one is GTA V. It is pretty dated, now, but I would love to see what kind of performance it can get maxed out, including maxed out advanced graphics settings (except scaling) 4K. I get around 35fps average on my 2070 maxed out 4K. I am going on memory though, I'll have to re-run the benchmark.
  11. Well, from the looks of actual benchmarks, a lot of people pre-release were hyping the 3000 series to be a lot better than it is which is no surprise. The 3080 was meant to be 50-80% faster than the 2080Ti in every way from what I read pre-release. Now that they're actually out, it seems the 3080 is only 15% faster than the 2080Ti which is still very impressive. Personally, I was expecting 3080 vs 2080Ti performance to be about the same.
  12. Were you able to get one? I know they sold out on Newegg in the US in 15 seconds.
  13. Episode 39 - Nvidia Bought ARM, Surface Duo, AMD 4000 Series, Tiger Lake, 3060Ti, WD RPM, Minecraft
  14. This was hilarious. I'm not sure where they got $200 per set from. Apple Airpods are $150 for the standard ones and $250 for the Pros.
  15. I think it's actually the most efficient way to heat a room. 400-500W being used, that much power being used by a computer is sufficient to heat a medium sized room to a pretty decent temperature and there's the added bonus of your computers compute power being used to cure disease. A lot better than a 1500-2000W electric heater that just heats.
  16. Sounds like you should buy a few old computers that are cheap and run F@H on them. Even though they won't get you much PPD and use a lot of power for the amount of work they do, you won't be paying for it ?
  17. I only stopped because of heat. I didn't really want my computer to be dumping out air at 60c+ all day when it's 25-30c outside in a well insulated room with no air conditioning. Even when not folding, my computer at idle would slowly heat up my room from 25-30c up to 33-38c.
  18. Weather is getting colder here, so it won't be long until I start folding again. I'm guessing the hype has really died down so no more issues getting WUs? I was generally getting 1.4-1.5 million PPD with the WUs I was getting.
