  1. I'd like to see more users and there's a few little things about the layout that I think could be changed to allow for easier browsing and thus better user retention. As it is now with just 5 items from each main category showing by default on the homepage, it makes the site feel small. For the news section, no one ever comments on news that's not in the first 5 threads showing, perhaps because they don't want to bump something back to the top. Just thinking about the site from the perspective of someone who is new and not coming from OCN with some familiarity already, if I stumbled onto this site for the first time I would probably think it looks really small and move on. If there were more threads showing by default, it would definitely help that. Sure the reveal more option is there but since no one ever comments on news past the reveal more button, it become a limiting factor. I also still think the podcast section is awkward with it being weighted the same as the other two main categories. I can't think of any other tech site that has nearly as much emphasis on podcast right there on the homepage. Definitely like this site a lot and the work you've put in really shows, however if I'm being completely honest I think the homepage layout is not fully ideal and marketing dollars may be less effective than they could be as a result. Perhaps it would be useful to conduct a survey to ask people about their thoughts on the overall quality of the site before you get too invested in the marketing.
  2. Electromagnetic interference from internal components is a potential issue with PC audio, but as far as I understand that really only impacts anything after the digital to analog conversion process as digital would be immune to any EMI. The storage, being the first link in the chain would come way before the digital to analog conversion and therefore it couldn't possibly have any impact on audio quality. If the user isn't even converting to analog and just using HDMI for audio then it's a non-issue entirely. On top of all that, I think an m.2 SSD has got to be so low power anyway that nothing about it's power consumption could possibly make a tangible difference in audio quality. I think even if you try to give this thing the benefit of doubt, it's still nothing but a useless gimmick; but here we are talking about so if it was intended just to grab attention for being absurd in hopes of selling to a few people who are crazy enough to buy this, looks like they achieved that goal. I've seen this on multiple tech sites already.
  3. So uhhhh... been a fun week or so huh . I bought in more at the start of this dip. Wish I had been waited a few more days to buy... This is a pretty strong covid dip.
  4. Just as an example, I think any "achievements" in a game could become an NFT. Really almost anything could be made into an NFT so long as it can be sold with a digital tag.
  5. Are you talking about your Ryzen 3600 machine? It for sure qualifies, you just have to enable TPM. On AMD it's called something slightly different, I think mine was xTPM or something. If windows is telling you your PC doesn't qualify for win11 and you have TPM enabled, then windows compatibility test is wrong and a clean install of win11 will work completely fine.
  6. The only real requirement is TPM being enabled. Any hardware too old for win11 wouldn't have TPM anyway.
  7. No nothing changed. I assume you have TPM (or is it TMP? I forget) enabled? Perhaps windows's ability to detect your hardware settings improved? Or it could just be that not all the drivers needed were WHQL certified for win11 yet.
  8. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/s-t-a-l-k-e-r-2-will-no-longer-have-nfts-after-fan-outcry/ar-AARTqTA?ocid=mmx&PC=EMMX01 Really glad they dropped this, however I have a feeling gamers are going to be dealing with this kind of nonsense more and more.
  9. NASA spacecraft 'touches' the sun for first time in 'monumental moment for solar science' WWW.MSN.COM NASA’s Parker Solar Probe has flown through the sun’s upper atmosphere – the corona – and sampled particles and magnetic fields there. For some reason this reminds me a lot of the TNG episode where Worf's brother takes outs some opposing Klingons by flying really close to a star and causing it to shoot out some kind of burst. One could argue he knew his stuff about star coronas...
  10. Imo the upscaler make it's looks a little weird.. that plus the demo runs with a green "matrix filter" that can be turned off in the open world part of the demo. Everything looks a little grainy, I wonder what resolution it's rendering at in the action scenes. I suspect the resolution gets pretty low at times. That said it's running with ray tracing GI and reflections on a console, and the reflections are pretty clean. I suspect with either a little more optimization for the engine or slightly paired back visuals, games will get some really good usage out of UE5. One thing the demo definitely does do well is show off how a game looks when there are basically no visible LOD shifts.
  11. Seems to be a lot of nostalgia on this forum; figured I'd add some here:
  12. How the Matrix Awakens Teases the Potential of Unreal Engine 5 - IGN WWW.IGN.COM The Matrix Awakens Experience is built using Unreal Engine 5 and some of the characters shown look almost indistinguishable from the real thing. Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne Moss appear and ask you to try... Looks really impressive. Would love to see this running on PC.

  15. I am going to hyjack this thread if possible. I'm in need of a new phone. Apparently Atnt is shutting their 3G network down and even though I have a 4G capable phone, Atnt is telling me that it still uses 3G to make calls so I need to switch to something else. Currently I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S. If anyone has suggestions for a ~$200 phone that has a good screen res, at least 6.5 inches and decent specs, would be much appreciated!
  16. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bCj2wEi80zA Not the traditional news but it's hard to find interesting news that's not related to chip shortages these days. This game has been in development for 6 years. It started development well before Xbox series x specs were finalized. It's also using a new engine, the "Slip-Space". Here's a good look at how it's all come together.
  17. Weird title... It would be strange if they didn't update windows for most of a year.
  18. Giant black hole inside a tiny satellite galaxy of our Milky Way defies explanation WWW.MSN.COM A tiny galaxy orbiting at the outskirts of the Milky Way appears to have a giant black hole at its center, comparable to that of the much larger Milky Way itself, and scientists don't know why. Long story short: The Milky Way galaxy we live in has smaller "dwarf galaxies" and star clusters orbiting it. The dwarf galaxy "Leo I" is pretty close, only about 8 Milky Way diameters away, but it's very small, only about 2000 light years wide compared to the Milky Way which is 100,000 light years wide. Despite it's much smaller size, astronomers now believe there is a black hole roughly the same size as the one at the center of the Milky Way despite it being a much smaller galaxy.
  19. These are two separate articles but I figured it makes sense to post them together in the same thread. 20. Have any of you guys been following Rivian stock? I have and it debuted at about $100 not long ago, spiked up a lot and is now back down to $100. Personally I am looking at this as a good time to buy and I bought into it today.
  21. Looks like China doesn't want the US to own too much stock in Chinese companies. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/nio-alibaba-lead-losses-for-u-s-listed-stocks-of-chinese-companies-after-didi-delisting-news/ar-AARrm0t?PC=EMMX01 I had some Nio stock. Sold it after hearing about this.
  22. Yea... Haha I'm not the cleanest person around... Mostly the cinder blocks were an impromptu thing but that center speaker is so big I couldn't figure out how else to fit it in between my two TVs... My living room is kinda long and narrow which makes setting up home theater a little awkward.
  23. FTC sues to block Nvidia's takeover of Arm WWW.TECHSPOT.COM The FTC announced the suit on Thursday, citing concerns about innovation and competition as a... Seems like the right move for sure.
  24. I didn't know we had a thread for this. I have speakers! I've got 2 Klipsch RB5MA speakers, a Klipsch center speaker of similar quality, a Klipsch R-10SW subwoofer (300 watts) and two lesser quality infinity rear speakers all hooked up to a Pioneer receiver for 5.1 surround. On the PC side I'm using a Sound Blaster Z and optical audio cables. I tried HDMI surround sound for a little bit but the options for speaker settings are much more limited with HDMI so I switched back to analog. I'd definitely call myself an audiophile.
