  1. Haha I was just talking about the discord thing on the other site... I don't agree with any argument that microsoft is going to ruin discord and I think that idea is silly, based on bias and not fact. I would challenge anyone to make a clear argument that isn't just your own opinion as to why this would be bad. Seems especially silly to think gamers would suddenly feel the need to uninstall discord from their microsoft operating system if microsoft owned discord.
  2. Your comparing msrp to the scalper prices. I just mean at least they're msrp is finally where it should be, not that msrp even matters at all right now.
  3. just a little rant to pass the time... I remember this feeling from pretty much every new console cycle, but this one is probably worse due to the hardware shortages and industry slowdowns. Basically, no new games out right now feel like new gen titles aside from maybe MSFS2020, and we're stuck waiting for next gen to really kick off. It feels like a really boring time to be a gamer. Sure there are still some hits like Velheim, but nothing that's interesting from a tech perspective. Ray Tracing is interesting but it feels like something that just gets tacked on to last gen game engines right now so they can check the RT box. With the exception of Minecraft RTX, RT seems super gimmicky right now... not that I have the hardware for it anyway. Would be nice if I could get a new GPU and experience the new tech to the extent that it actually does anything interesting right now, but I haven't had any luck with that and I suspect most PC gamers are in the same boat. Xbox game pass is great but honestly it feels like a long list of last gen games right now. On top of that, there is somewhat of a choice overload paradox going on. Ever notice how if you hear a song you like on the radio it's more exciting than choosing to listen to it on your own? That's the paradox of choice. If there were some stand out titles right now, it would make things a lot simpler because it would be easy to focus on those rather than trying to figure out which of the hundreds of somewhat equal in quality last gen games to revisit, or try for the first time years after their splendor has worn off. Cyberpunk was cool for a little while because it was impressive and felt fresh despite the bugs but it was also pretty short and didn't have fleshed out enough RPG mechanics for there to be a reason to keep playing after the main quest. Long story short, I feel overwhelmed with uninteresting choices when it comes to gaming these days. Relatable for anyone? Anything really holding your interest these days? On an more positive note, one thing I am really looking forward to is seeing games that start making heavy usage of Quixel level quality 3D assets. To me, that type of advanced photogrammetry and digital asset library tech is far more interesting than RT and I feel like when that tech starts to get utilized to it's potential, that will be when next gen really starts.
  4. Kinda funny to call this a lengthy and embarrassing saga considering what else is going on with Microsoft right now.
  5. I have this drive. I choose it after trying to find the best price/performance ratio. It's fast, no regrets.
  6. I think it will be extremely rare for games to use the full speed of a 4.0 nvme this gen, even in the later titles. By the time any games come out that could possibly benefit from a 4.0 nvme, they will be standard and cheaper.
  7. What's the CPUz score on that puppy?
  8. Source: Satellite that uses magnets to gather space junk will launch tomorrow (msn.com) This is an absolutely necessary step towards expanding the earths satellite network.
  9. I found a pretty cool idea for interesting places to fly. I grew up in Pleasanton CA which is really close to the Altamont Pass, a huge windmill facility. Naturally I flew around in my home town and saw that MSFS2020 fully renders windmills and they're really cool. So anywhere with windmills can be a pretty cool obstacle course. The turbines even spin so you can get really tricky with that if you want to. Altamont Pass - Wikipedia Top 10 biggest wind farms in the world (power-technology.com)
  10. FYI you have to link your EA account to your Xbox account. Official EA Play for PC Walkthrough | Xbox Game Pass For PC - YouTube If you don't see the EA play section in the xbox app, restart the xbox app.
  11. Microsoft Flight Simulator 3_17_2021 1_00_15 AM.jxr This is just a test, testing the .jxr image format (windows 10 native format for HDR screenshots)
  12. DDR-400 is the first type of ram I ever bought for myself IIRC, back when I was using the family HP Pentium 4 2.53ghz PC for gaming. Ahhh the memories... BF1942, Far Cry 1, UT 2003/4... the golden age of mods.
  13. When I looked it up, I found an article that is only 7 days old that said "release date: November". I thought for sure they meant November of this year but apparently it was last November.
  14. Is it not the case that the 8 core M1 chip comes out at the end of the year? That's what the article is talking about right? If this is the same M1 chip that's been out for a while, why wasn't this news sooner? I just figured since this is recent news, must be a new CPU.
  15. Yea for sure, but at least we finally have cards that are cheaper than a 1080ti and also faster. And yea... MSRP is a pipe dream. Even the retail outlets have the prices inflated.

  17. Source: EA Play Is Coming To Xbox Game Pass For PC Tomorrow - IGN Gonna be a great time to hop on BF4 and frag some noobs. Separately, There are another 8 games that were just added to the "coming soon" list with that, Bethesda just being added and now this; gamepass for PC got a lot bigger this month. Though it's worth noting that the EA games are actually late, they were supposed to be added sooner.
  18. I should have said this in my last post; the game is definitely a lot smoother going from a 7700k OCed to the 3700x stock. This game really benefits from the additional threads. Still GPU limited most of the time of course but its still a huge improvement.
  19. Source: https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_radeon_rx_6700_xt_(reference)_review,23.html Looks like it's just barely under a 3060ti. In the witcher 3 the 1080ti is faster but the 6700xt beats the 1080ti in a lot of other titles.
  20. Yea I think this one in the benchmark is the m1x or m2, is it not? Maybe I got the wrong info when I looked it up.
  21. IIRC this doesn't ship til the end of the year, so most likely it won't be on top by then. Still, definitely impressive especially for ARM though I suspect there will be some drawbacks that apple won't mention any any of their marketing material. Edit: nvm on the release date, I thought this wasn't out yet at first.
  22. Digital Foundry just did another video on this, some performance improvements but the game still isn't where it should be in that area. They added back in the VTOL level (ascension). Still no cryengine editor for the game. If/when they add the editor I will buy this immediately.
