  1. I was just thinking about something that could be really cool to add to anyone's list of retro tech projects... Anyone ever thought about getting an ageia physx card? As I understand it, there is a game called the cell, I think, that makes heavy use of ageia physx. It was more of a tech demo than a game but it did some really cool stuff that never came to any game after it, and it will only run on ageia. Even though Nvidia bought ageia, the game was never updated to support Nvidia physx.
  2. Thanks! I'm sure it will be easier than managing a minecraft server haha. If anyone has any requests as they certain things you would like me to post news about, feel free to let me know.
  3. Hmm interesting. I wonder if this could be used in court someday.
  4. https://www.ign.com/articles/links-between-loot-boxes-and-problem-gambling-robustly-verified-in-new-report Another article telling us what we already know.
  5. https://www.space.com/mars-helicopter-ingenuity-touches-down-martian-surface Interesting facts: 4 pounds on Earth, less than 2 pounds on Mars. (Mars has about 38% of Earth gravity) Mars has an atmosphere, but it's only about 1% as dense as earth's so if this thing is able to fly on mars it will be an amazing achievement.
  6. https://www.techspot.com/news/89173-amd-admits-zen-3-cpus-vulnerable-new-spectre.html According to people who understand this much better than I do, though I guess it's similar to spectre in how it works, it's something that can only occur in more specific and rare scenarios.
  7. I'd be down, I like to post news frequently anyway.
  8. I got two 6800xts today from this alert stream. Tried to order 5, but only got 2. Though yes it's still really hard to get one, stream, shuffle, or otherwise.
  9. Here is the alert stream I've been watching: (1) 24/7 Live stock alert for RTX 3060/TI/3070/3080/3090 6700/6800/XT/6900XT with sound for USA stores - YouTube
  10. Products Available For Purchase | AMD AMD is in stock right now
  11. Amd is really pushing their weight around with these prices. They're turning into intel.
  12. I wonder if you could run fight sim on it. Would definitely be cool with that monitor setup if it worked at all.

    The ugly side

umm this is for UGLY pics, you're cheating!
  14. It's a security thing. On windows 8 this was an big issue, lot of people used programs to add a replacement start button back in and with that came a lot of virus issues. It wasn't too often that I encountered customers with viruses on windows 8 machines but almost without exception it was always accompanied by a UI alteration.
  15. I know this is "what are you listening too" and not "what are you watching" but I just found this bat * insane anime on netflix and I wanted to share it. This show is hilarious. Sooooo weird. Much humor. Apparently there is also a live action movie.
  16. It's cool that gaming on linux has improved so much but unless a major shift in consumer thinking occurs, it's still a massively inferior alternative to windows when it comes to gaming. I think microsoft is finally getting their act together, the average consumer dosen't even really need anti virus on windows 10 anymore. Windows has improved and I'm going to give microsoft the benifit of doubt here if they do aquire discord.
  17. Looks like I just bought a 6900XT directly from the AMD website for MSRP (plus tax and shipping, total was about $1075) after watching one of those youtube inventory tracking videos. I made the purchase so quickly that I couldn't update my shipping address and paypal used an older address by default... so now once it actually gets shipped I'll have to hassle the shipping company to either change the delivery address or make sure they hold it at one of their stores for pick up. Honestly not sure if I'm going to keep it or resell it. Was not looking to get a 6900XT as it's a bit overkill for me and I was hoping to get an nvidia card since they have better features right now, but since it's the only card I've been able to buy so far... I'll probably end up keeping it at least until I can get something else.
  18. https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/nintendo-switch-pro-based-on-5nm-nvidia-ada-lovelace-soc.html I don't get why they're still going with a 720p screen.
  19. As crappy as this is, I can't really blame them. I'd rather the manufacturers get the additional profits than scalpers.

    *RANT* HDD's

People think the government is putting microchips in their brains and really the government can't even manage hard drive upgrades haha.
  21. Playing only some of the up to date games is quite different than having all the newer games available. Something tells me xbox game pass games don't work on linux, for one.
  22. Gaming on linux is like using emulators. It's cool when it works but not much appeal in playing older games that take a lot of work to get running properly. I mean, its a joke to suggest that windows is a * show and present linux as a better alternative for gaming. Linux does what it's supposed to do well but it's not a consumer OS and it never will be, and that's a good thing. No open source OS could ever be the defacto OS for consumer usage because it takes real money to make that work well for the masses.
  23. I mean, I'm not going to dive into a debate about US security policy because it's just too much for this topic but the government having the ability to monitor stuff online does not equate to people having any private info used against them via skype, or anything at all close to that. Skype would have been bought out by google or oracle if not Microsoft so servers being moved would have happened no matter what.
  24. Microsoft is a lot more linux friendly than they were when skype was a bigger deal, so likely no issue there. To the other point, unless you have evidence that someones privacy was compromised as a result of skype being run by microsoft then I don't see the server change as an issue personally and I'm pretty sure 99% of the user base wouldn't even think twice about it.
  25. My point is that the 2000 series was more expensive than the 1000 series by a major amount to the point of not making sense for most people. Not until these newer cards have we finally gotten to a point where there are GPUs that are both faster and cheaper than a 1080ti was at msrp.
