  1. Hey, I remember that nyan cat avatar. Welcome!
  2. Functionally where I am at with it. I want to switch, but that's held me back.
  3. Wow! So what's a safe max voltage to give the 4790k? Most I got out of mine stable was 4.6Ghz. Was a little disappointed. I only went as high as 1.35v though. That said, it's kept me going for the past 7+ years. I also have another computer in the house with one.
  4. Those are some fine MSRPs! Just curious what you don't like about your 2700X?
  5. Wow, good to know thanks. If its thick, that makes me feel better about it's longevity. I already have some spatulas.
  6. Good info, thanks. Yeah MX-4 or NT-H1 has usually been my go-to paste, MX-4 usually more than the other. I'll give MX-5 a try.
  7. Puting in the order for SW3's now. Also need to grab some thermal paste while at it. Any big difference between MX-4 and MX-5 I should know about? Skipping that KP-x included with the Optimus block. I don't want to repaste stuff every 6 months. Same goes for Kryonaut. This stuff was good when first applied but just doesn't last.
  8. That's the American way! Or Canadian, or wherever you live (I forget).
  9. The first computer I ever built from scratch completely had an E8500 Wolfdale. So I understand.
  10. OK, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks. Yeah I have 3 bottles of pre-mix. I am not sure if ModMyMods even makes a concentrate for ModWater? Mayhems clear was hard to find in stock anywhere.
  11. What's the biggest difference between the two? To clarify, I a just looking for distilled water for flushing, my Blitz kit, general loop prep. I am using ModWater clear for the coolant.
  12. I hate ringing phones so mine is perpetually on vibrate or silent mode (mostly silent) and instead my Android watch vibrates on my wrist to tell me when something is going on. The only thing that can get through and actually make noise is the app for work pages if there is an outage call I need to jump on.
  13. Shout out to my 4790k keeping me going for the past 7+ years.
  14. Bant because "Idahoan" sounds funny when you say it out loud, which I did.
  15. Well getting ready to get in the rest of my parts needed to finish my new build. I stopped at a couple stores this week and no one has distilled water. Anyone one else seeing a lack of distilled water in their areas?
  16. Good call out! Which SW3's do you use @Avacado?
  17. I think I decided on the SW3's, but a little unsure on which one to get since they seem to have 4 models for each size. I am going for 120mm. So I want to control them, so will get the PWM's. But is there any other difference between the regular and the high speeds besides what their max speed is?
  18. Bant for continuing to make me think of dinosaurs (but secretly I like it).
  19. Yeah, really what I wanted to go with, but like you will just wait. Figured a cheap one can tide me over for now. As for Leakshield, interesting concept, but I imagine has some kinks to work out. Looked like it could be very finicky.
  20. The 30mm vs 25mm height of the T30's rules them out for me. I'm not sure I'll have the clearance on the thick rad mounted up top with those. I have a bunch of old Gentle Typhoon AP-15's from like 12 years ago in a box somewhere. Problem I had with them were that they didn't always undervolt gracefully without some weird noises.
  21. Any difference between the regulars or the high RPM PWM versions. Thought about getting the high RPM versions for the few occasions I might want to try an OC session or something, but otherwise wonder if there is any difference between the two models ramped down to 1000-1100 RPM?
  22. Engineering feeds a lot of work into my area, and while I do not have a technical job anymore, I have in the past. Now I've more been involved on the software side of engineering, so if your questions are more specific to the areas you outlined (server, networking), then I might not be the best help, but if you have some more general questions, happy to help answer if you think there is any value there. EDIT: For clarification, I am not a developer, but have extensive experience with release/deployment side of software. That has been in technical roles in the past, but these days are more in the process side. I can get into more detail in PM if interested.
  23. Ah, that makes sense. I completely forgot about FormulaMod. I'll keep them in mind next time I am looking for stuff. EDIT: Ok I looked, guess I thought they were a different shop. Seems they just have all the Bykski, Barrow, Barrowch stuff. I'll let you know what it looks like when I get it.
