Yeah they need to make the TPM 2.0 optional, but just advise it is for best security if you have it. I agree, there CPU compatibility list makes no sense, the have made much lesser CPU's (performance wise) fully compatible with Win11, yet other CPU's of similar and far better performance are not compatible. I honestly wonder who came up with that list as they need re-educating.

Source. This whole "will it, won't it" is getting silly now with Windows 11. The ultimate fact is the OS can run on a huge hardware set but Microsoft are just putting up artificial barriers. Instead of leaving it's compatibility like Windows 10 they have really muddied the waters aiding confusion. What I don't understand is you can install Windows 11 via ISO on older hardware....but Microsoft punishes you with no Windows Updates ? I mean that serves literally nobody. Microsoft giving with one hand only to take with the other. Windows 11 is nice (IMO) but the way Microsoft has gone about it's release is a farce. I understand the TPM requirements BUT I still don't think it needs enforcement. That should be up to the user/admin deploying it.

Nice ! Glad you solved it, shame it was a dud motherboard but I think we all came to that conclusion fairly quickly. Good to see you can now go onwards and upwards. I think this thread should include benches for each retro system

Yes this can be a useful method, the only side affects are increased latency, not that you would notice much on media files but anything that reads a lot may see a drop in performance. That being said, this a nice and quick way to free up space. Let's face it, if you are chasing performance and space, you would just swap out the drive for something more appropriate.

I do remember the Robinhood shenanigans and it did make me wonder, but it is now a moot point as I cannot use it lol. I will check out eToro though and see what they are about. Do you per chance use eToro ?

So it looks like Robinhood is a no go as they do not accept signups outside of the UK. I took a look at Charles Schwab, I was taking a look at the account types. The ones that would interest me would either be Brokerage or Automated & Managed Portfolio's. I assume @UltraMegayou use the standard Brokerage ?

As someone who is aiming to start getting into stocks this is useful. It is time I took advantage and started making more money than my day job! Thanks in advance for any info. @UltraMega has given me some tips and should prove useful. Wont invest a huge amount in crypto right now. My starting point will be on far safer bets. Occasionally I will pop some expendable money into higher risk stocks, such as Crypto.

Any other comments before I decide ?

Hey all, This is more of a grip topic than anything else. So today I was made redundant from my job as a designer/technical draughtsman. To cut a long story short, I recently left my job as a draughtsman where I designed and prepared technical drawings for the manufacturing of furniture. I had been in that position for about 8 years. It was not without its faults and it was underpaid, but it was OK. I was recently contacted by a company that designed and fabricated staircases who were interested in my skillset. After taking an interview with them (I mean why not!), it was clear my skills were transferable from an CAD and I.T point of view and I would finally be on a far more appropriate wage. I had to give my last job two months notice, though to be fair I did not HAVE to, but I was one of their more experience draughtsman as well as their internal I.T guy, not to mention I built their database. I thought two months was a fair thing to do as I am not one to up and leave people up shizzle creek. Unbeknownst to me, during my 2 month notice period, clearly business was not going well for the company I was to join. However for whatever reason they did not see it fit to let me know that things were not going as well as they could and warn me it was not a good idea to come over. Ironically I found out they had an internal chat about this, but the MD decided to bring me onboard anyway. If I had known I would either have stayed with my prior company or made other arrangements. So there I go joining a sinking ship, not knowing it was as such. After joining, it was really slow work wise, but all companies have slow periods. I only started becoming concerned when I was having conversations with suppliers who's invoices had not been satisfied, and for an extensive period of time. To compound this issue further, I actually learned that the company had not so long ago already gone bust. There I was thinking "WTF man, what have I joined". Then it got worse, I found out that the company was stealing the employees pensions !!!! I mean, who does that crap ? This really is all in a nutshell as there are other things that make you think "What ?!?!" Ultimately the company had a meeting today to lay everyone off, this did not come as any surprise and fortunately I had been job searching, though for the moment I am still unemployed. I do not get redundancy pay as I have not worked there for the 2 years plus minimum. I also do get paid the last months wage, yay ! Fortunately I can claim it back through the government, though may not be the full wage. I digress, a complete unnecessary pain in the ass. What is worse is the team there were very good at their jobs and everyone got on, it was really good. However the people at the top really screwed the pooch !

Yeah data recovery tends not to find things in any particular order. Especially if a wiped drive has had other data written on it since. It can be a tiresome process but one I find you have to let it run its complete course before throwing your hands in the air....or putting your head in your hands.

I use the easeUS software for backup, recovery and partitioning. I honestly cannot fault them. One of my best purchases.
