  1. Moved to Software News. I have to say, I think we will see more of this, especially with Google and other Chromium based browsers locking down on certain sites as well as what has been stated as unfair treatment whereby Google have been caught undermining competing services so they do not function etc. This is part of the problem when a company gets a little too large !
  2. Thanks for the report, I will keep an eye out, not happened to me yet and I cannot replicate it with your post. If it happens again, might be useful if I can get a screencast (video) of the issue happening with the browsers developer console open as it helps to see in real time what is causing the error Oh and banned for causing errors
  3. Banned for ruining the reveal. Phase 3 of the site is to optimize the Mobile experience
  4. Is it one of those super linear gameplay models ? Just wondering. No, I wouldn't call it really linear from what I remember, but my big gripe was that combat and the little features of the core gameplay weren't terribly interesting to me, so a large chunk of the game had no appeal. The only reason why I finished it was I played through the whole thing with a friend and we fooled around enough to make it fun. I have played a few games like that. It is like having that friend over at an event to fill those awkward moments.
  5. I think that the ray tracing on the current RTX cards is actually rather good assuming that the game has been appropriately developed. The first version of Battlefield that supported RTX was awful because it was rushed in my humble opinion and when they were trying to use ray tracing they were virtually ray tracing everything on scene which is a little un-realistic. I am not saying there is no room for improvement on a hardware level, of course there is and the next generations of GPU's will yield better performance. What I will say is that I have been relatively impressed with the later ray tracing implementations in games, the earlier ones were very hit and miss. I do not think AMD will bring the hurt this time round, and they have a lot to catch up with, not only ray tracing but as you say they need to up their raster performance and of course their VRAM count. I understand they went with HBM/HBM2 but in all honesty what is the point in all that bandwidth if the game actually needs raw space, not speed. Strictly for gaming use, I am still waiting to see a real world advantage to HBM...That or I am just blind lol. Supposedly the new amd navi 23 will be able to compete with or even beat the 2080/2080ti, BUT that's either THIS generation(the super) or even the first generation cards they're talking about,so it leaves room for nvidia to still be releasing a new generation that'll be wiping the floor with it(sadly). It WOULD be nice to see team green get some real competition to make them treat the consumers right again and make them start sweating a bit. Well hopefully they can start amping up their game. Unfortunately the fact they can match or beat the 2080/2080Ti (IF they can) will not be a selling point they want to tout, nothing good by pointing out your new tech can only just match tech that's a 1 Year + Old lol. I just hope their marketing does not go in that direction...I have seen some odd things.
  6. Love it, I enjoyed the argument about AIO vs Ice Giant cooler. I run a full custom loop on my Threadripper 2990WX as anything less than custom WC is just asking for it, especially on an all core overclock. That being said, after looking at the prelim performance of this new Ice giant cooler as well as the review Linus did, I have to say I am rather impressed. At least the commercial version will be cut down in size and it they use a copper base or even full copper, then that will be sweet...but full copper I would envisage the need of a back plate to support that beast.

  8. It is crumpet and tea time ! Banned for thinking otherwise
  9. The good thing about 3DMARK is while it is certainly not a new kid on the block, they have certainly kept up their portfolio with the times. Something I really like is that under one purchase, all the new additions they make to the software come as free extra that gets installed ready for use, for free. I have 3DMARK on STEAM so all the new extra's just get added in and then I will have a play with it when I know something new is on the scene. I will have to whip out the benching this weekend and post up some scores.
  10. That is the one, I was sure I heard of a new GPU coming out from AMD bringing Ray Tracing into action. Will be interesting to see how they implement it and how it stacks up against Nvidia. Logic and track record dictates to me that AMD's first gen will be dare I say it lackluster in the RT department compared to Nvidia offerings. Not meaning to put a downer on it but I find that AMD GPU's are still always that couple of steps behind. Now if they could bring some of that Ryzen hurt they have been giving to Intel in a form of a GPU to give it to Nvidia...that would be nice. Furthermore it would hopefully bring the market back into pricing balance.
  11. I still need to listen to the second half of this one...and now have another lol
  12. Is it one of those super linear gameplay models ? Just wondering.
  13. Granted the benchmark isn't game accurate whereby there are other things going on in the scene as there is only one true moving object (The Drone) so it can be argued that the performance is no where near real world. That being said, the performance of the scene work is very well optimized and would obviously lend itself well if used in a real game scenario. So while the benchmark performance is to be taken with a grain of salt, its still a step in the right direction, even if its using traditional methods and not RT cores. Ultimately I think AMD will join the hardware accelerated game when it comes to ray tracing and the competition will simply carry on to evolve that technology. I think standard implementation of Ray Tracing through standard shaders while nice, will ultimately be short lived. I don't think any open source method will really get adopted. I think its it's only going to love forward through RT Core implementation/AMD''s hardware acceleration method. I guess time will tell !
  14. Thanks for sharing, I tell you what it does to show that with the correct software optimization and low level driver/software optimizations that older hardware can still very much hold its own. Granted 4K may be a struggle but at the end of the day the 980Ti was not designed to be bashing out high frames at that resolution. I would love to see other companies adopt this method, it would be a win win, those without the RT cores can still get some goodness and those with RT cores one would assume may even get better performance (Though that is a guess). That being said not sure how Nvidia would feel about this lol.
  15. Yeah that is known but thanks ! Banned for pointing it out
  16. Banned for not having a sig rig yet..oh wait that is because I have not released it yet to the masses...muhahaha. For real though, should be released soon. Doing some final tests :drunk:
  17. Source [video=youtube_share;X_dnAD5TD-E]https://youtu.be/X_dnAD5TD-E This is pretty neat. It should cut down emissions a lot for short-haul flights. I can't see it taking over long-haul flights for a very, very long time though. Battery tech has improved a lot in recent years but it's still no where near good enough. I think it is great. Battery tech has come along way and I think the commercial popularity in drones as well as electric vehicles have really pushed battery tech companies to innovate. Lets face it, I should imagine their profit margins are increasing due to the obvious popularity of electric transport/gadgets.
  18. Yeah, when I bought Destiny 2 a while back I got it with the Forsaken expansion and the Season pass. The next year they had a new season pass with new content which floored me,cause I was use to Witcher with 1 season pass giving me ALL the DLC ever released for the game. That's when I swore I wouldn't keep paying over & over for a pass either season or annual.LOL, Now they've moved Destiny2 off the Battle.net servers onto Steam and made the core game FREE.Kinda makes us feel like we wasted money. Changes like that are annoying when you had to jump through hoops and then suddenly else where it is free or somehow better. I guess it comes into the same category as adopting bleeding edge tech....you have to deal with those teething issues lol
  19. I had actually completely forgotten about Dyling Light, I remember when it was first released and I was impressed by what I saw but never go around to buying and playing it. I will have to take a look. I agree though that more companies should follow suit and add to their game without there always having to be a purchase for it. I never buy DLC in principle to be honest. I also watch for reviews to make sure that a game I am interested in can be ''Completed'' in whole without having to buy DLC in order to get the full game. This has happened in the past and it is a poor ass approach.
  20. Banned for A. Being away an B. for right aligning, it is all about the centre !
  21. I really need to get some screenshots of Control during some action !
  22. At least it is not China that has all but banned foreign hardware and software...D'oh
  23. Thanks and they arrived today! Here's a couple pics of unwrapping! Sweet ! Glad they arrived safe and sound, thanks for sharing and I hope you enjoy them
