Latest Release: 0.2.1 * If you have any questions, notice a bug or wish to recommend new features, please visit our thread at ExtremeHW * Bug reports and feature requests can also be made on GitHub * --- The ExtremeHW (EHW) Validation Tool is a program that consolidates required applications (CPUz, GPUz) for Hwbot screenshot verification. The purpose of this software is twofold: To reduce the time requirement of opening validation programs and to consolidate the opened windows neatly on the desktop. The official GitHub project is HERE. The current GUI consists of four sections explained below. Settings: The first and second boxes include the path specifications to the CPU-z and GPU-z applications on your computer. They are set to the default path location, but can be changed using the "Browse" buttons. The third box is where you type your Hwbot username. The fourth box is where you type your Hwbot team. Your username and team name will appear in a white box when opening the 2D or 3D buttons. Not populating the username and team name boxes will leave the displayed white box empty on your desktop (Except for the EHW application text). *Displayed username and team when the application is open on the desktop.* 2D/3D Benchmarks: There are buttons for either 2D or 3D benchmarks. They are further broken down by where they will be displayed on your desktop (Left or Right sides). Clicking the 2D benchmark button will open three CPU-z windows that automatically sets the CPU, Mainboard and Memory tabs. The CPU-z windows will be aligned together at the bottom of the desktop on whichever side you chose. Clicking the 3D option will do the same as the 2D option while adding a GPU-z main tab window. *Example of opening 3D Benchmark (Right Side)* *Example of opening a 2D Benchmark (Left Side)* Screenshot: This program can take a screenshot and automatically save it to your computer by clicking the “Take Screenshot” button. The Validation tool may remain on top as it is NOT included within the screenshot. The captured image will be an entire desktop shot and be stored to a user specified location. The validation tool will remember the last chosen path for saving images for subsequent screenshots. Closing the Tool: Clicking the "Close Tools" button will close all open windows except for the EHW Validation tool itself. Tools will also be automatically closed when the EHW Validation Tool is closed. Notes: Administrator access is required in order to launch CPU-Z and GPU-Z with administrator privileges. This application does not support more than one GPU-z window. The CPU-z auto selection tabs are NOT changeable. High DPI or large monitors may have issues auto-arranging the tools or when taking screenshots Special Thanks: @Avacado for the initial documentation and walkthrough video @Avacado @Bastiaan_NL for the initial idea for this tool @Avacado @Bastiaan_NL @Fluxmaven for beta testing Walkthrough Video:

That's what you say now. Next month you'll be rationalizing that is only 48 hours. Surely you can endure a 90F room for that long

For your prize, it would go to @keeph8n. If you want to go ahead and contact him to get that shipped, that would be great. As for the final stats and the random draw on tubing, we aren't quite finished yet. I hope to have this done in the next 24 hours.
-
I have to opt out of any prizes. Since I ran the stats this time (and am now staff), it doesn't seem right to be eligible for prizes. Thanks for your prize contribution, though! We'll let you know once the stats are final.
-
I need to verify with @damric before we have final stats that are official. However, this should be it:

I have that gigabyte z790 aorus master board in my unraid file server with a 13700k. The only issue I ran into was the xmp memory profile wouldn't work with two kits of ram installed (4x16gb). I believe that's common with multiple kits, though. Since I don't need fast ram in this system, I'm just running with whatever slow speeds it defaulted to. I picked that board as it was the cheapest with a built-in 10Gb NIC.
-
As far as I'm aware, he has not. However, we have a backup plan. We'll be using the site below to keep track of the stats for this foldathon. Once the competition starts, the stats should be updated every 5 minutes. https://ehwfoldingstats.lazypenguin.com/

A single 4090 will put out 16-32mil ppd. Varies greatly with the projects being folded. -
I hit top 100 folders according to EOC stats with my contributions to EHW. I've also folded over 16 billion points for the team! https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/individual_overtake.php?s=&u=1248729&p=1 My total points for all teams puts me at 87th and 19 billion points in the fah stats! https://stats.foldingathome.org/donor/id/8514

Keep me updated on how the RMA goes. I have the same card, folding 24/7. No issues after 3 months folding at stock speeds. -

I have a custom docker image that I created and a "startup script" to configure and start folding. However, there is more configuration that needs to be done so you can manually stop folding after completing your last WU before you terminate the instance. I'm hesitant to provided all of the information publicly for fear of people trying it out and having to terminate instances that have been assigned a WU. That just slows down the science waiting for those WUs to timeout and be sent to others for completion. If you (or anyone else) are interested in setting this up, let me know and I can help you get things configured. Hitting me up on the EHW discord is likely the easiest way to get you up and running. As for budget, I initially planned on $200 as an extra push for the competition. Then @CoolGTX showed up in force . I added another $200 to rent more 4090s to be able to compete with the massive amount of gear that he owns and can run!!! In hindsight, it might have been better to use that money towards another 4090 to run full time I guess a bit of background first. For the last 1.5 years or so, I was running 3x3080TI and several lesser 3000 series GPUs. Due to a recent move, I wasn't able to keep running all of that myself. Two of the 3080TI's were shipped to @Cerberus to add to his folding farm. He hosts cards for several EHW members. Meanwhile, I picked up a 4090 that I fold on 24/7. For the competition, I had the following personally owned hardware in play: - 1x4090 - 2x3080TI (hosted by cerberus) - 1x3080 12gb - 1xQuadro P620 (This thing makes a crazy amount of PPD!!!) I'm guessing I would have been fighting for third with my hardware alone. As mentioned above, I also rented 4090s on vast.ai for the competition. My initial ppd was with 4x4090s being rented (about 170mil ppd in total with my hardware). After you ramped up, I added another 8x4090s. I'm currently renting 10x4090s total and my combined ppd with my personal hardware is about 325mil ppd. I'll try to add a few photos later tonight. @CoolGTX, from my understanding, you have only used hardware that you own and run. That is an amazing amount of hardware to be able to devote to folding. You have put up MASSIVE points during the competition. Thanks for contributing and I'm glad we were all able to push each other to contribute more than normal during this competition! A lot of science has been done.

If you want to spend any time trying to optimize those 3080ti's for the best PPD, let me know. I think we could bump those up a bit. @Cerberusis currently running my 3080ti's and reported earlier today that they are between 6.5-8.5mil ppd depending on the WU. I think he's running them in Linux. By comparison, my 3080 12gb in windows is doing ~7.5mil ppd pretty consistently.

Any advantage to using the beta V8 client, particularly in Linux?
firedfly replied to neurotix's topic in Folding@Home
There is no performance improvement with v8 and it is still beta. If you use hfm to monitor your folding systems, it will not work with v8. I'm not sure if any paths change, but I think they probably stay the same. I wouldn't recommend using the v8 client right now unless you have a specific reason.- 1 reply

I matched @Avacado's contribution, so you have another 10% from me. Thanks for hosting!
