  1. Thanks for the suggestions so far! I wanted to give an update on my plans and see if you guys have any more recommendations. The goal of this build is to have a gaming PC connected to my tv in the living room. Low noise is the biggest priority. I don't plan to overclock any of the components. The intended use case is for games and, at times, folding on the 3080ti. I've acquired a few more parts for the build. This is what I have so far: - Aquacomputer ULTITUBE D5 200 reservoir with D5 PWM pump - Black Ice Nemesis 360GTX® Dual-Core Xtreme Profile Radiator - MSI Z690 MPG Edge WiFi DDR4 - Intel Core i5-13600K - Some Gskill DDR4 ram that will be pulled from another system (2x16gb, I think) Based on suggestions so far, I plan to pick up another radiator to ensure both the 3080ti and i5-13600k can be cooled without ramping the fans up too high. I currently have a Black Ice Nemesis 360GTX. It doesn't look like those are in stock anywhere at the moment. Do you guys have suggestions for another radiator to purchase for this build? Will another 360 be sufficient? @Avacado suggested I get a Heatkiller IV for the cpu block. Is this the correct thing to purchase for my cpu? Do I need a backplate as well? https://www.performance-pcs.com/water-cooling/water-blocks/water-blocks-cpu/heatkiller-iv-pro-intel-lga-1x00-pure-copper.html As far as my initial question goes, I'm still trying to decide on a case. I'm currently leaning towards a Lian Li O11 Dynamic Evo (https://www.newegg.com/white-lian-li-o11-dynamic-evo-atx-mid-tower/p/2AM-000Z-00094). It looks like I can put a 360 rad on the bottom and another on the top with the pump mounted to the side fan wall. Thoughts on this? I'd also like to thank @Avacado (again) and @Bastiaan_NL for further discussion about this project on discord. If anyone has any thoughts/suggestions/etc, they are appreciated. Thanks!
  2. Wow. 4090s are better than I expected. Unless this is a lucky WU that is faster than normal:
  3. In firedfly. I'm not sure what gear I'll have up, but I'll try to have something going.
  4. This was in a spotswood open frame case and was my first attempt at water cooling. I've never enclosed the WC parts into a case before. I don't need anything super small (SFF), but I'd also like to avoid any giant cases if possible. A mid tower sized case would be fine... Though I'm doubtful everything will fit in one? So, I'm quite inexperienced when it comes to water cooling. I had thought to cool both the 3080ti and cpu with a single 360mm rad. Do I need to rethink that?
  5. I'm looking to move my water cooled 3080TI setup into a case for use in my living room. Do you guys have suggestions on cases to use? Smaller would be better, but I know there are limits on how small I can go while containing the WC gear. I plan to cool: - EVGA Hydro Copper 3080ti - a cpu (not sure which one yet) I have the following pump/res and radiator: - Aquacomputer ULTITUBE D5 200 reservoir with D5 PWM pump - Black Ice Nemesis 360GTX® Dual-Core Xtreme Profile Radiator Thanks in advance for your suggestions and comments!
  6. It is on LARs now with a lower PPD (which is common in my experience with my 3080ti's). GeForce RTX 4090 Folding@Home PPD Averages, Power Consumption & Research Projects FOLDING.LAR.SYSTEMS F@H GeForce RTX 4090 performance as of 10/14/2022. Averages across all projects PPD:14,892,957 - Work Units Per Day:23.17, performance history and more. The p18601 Alzheimers project is currently showing 21.7 mil ppd. Still an amazing improvement from the 3080ti/3090 ppd.
  7. 26 million points per day? I'm not sure if that is the most optimized configuration either. source: RTX 4090 is getting 26M PPD - Folding Forum FOLDINGFORUM.ORG
  8. Just a reminder to everyone that the competition begins in 10 hours. If you need to start up any rigs do it soon!

    2022 Team Cup!

I have a 960, 1660 and several 3000 series cards. However, I also have 0 free time right now to help out (if any of that hardware helps).
  10. @pioneerisloud @Cerberus I'm going to drop out of the ETF at the end of the month. It doesn't look like either of you have been able to contribute recently. Do you want to disband the team completely? Or do one of you want to take over?
  11. That's the plan. The best way to defeat @BWG is to use his own farm against him! Thanks!
  12. In firedfly That folding time prize of 1xBWG's farm is quite the prize!
  13. I just looked at your screenshots. My first thought was that you have a LOT of drives only covered from the 1 parity drive. If you lose 2 of those older, smaller drives, you'll start losing data. Though, I'm definitely on the more cautious side (2 parity/9 data drives). As for the cache drive not being used, you would need to check your share settings. I have Use cache pool set to yes for the shares I want to utilize the cache (and have the files moved to the array when the mover is invoked). Also, if you are interested in my configuration, I have multiple cache pools. One for normal array caching. The other stores my docker and vm files so they are not on the array. Additionally, I'll pass some specific SSDs through to a few VMs when a dedicated SSD is preferred.
  14. I use unRAID and like it a lot. I don't know anything about truenas. I feel the biggest drawback to unRAID is access speed when accessing the array... Specifically writing to the array. Read speeds are capped at the speed of the drive hosting the data you want. Unlike other systems, you won't get the speed benefit of reading or writing to multiple drives at the same time. As for writing to the array, it is slow by default. Using cache drives to receive new or updated files helps, but can have issues (writing more data in a day than the cache drive can hold). There are other settings to speed up writes if you keep the drives spun up at all times. Overall, I love unRAID. However, I have a slew of non array ssds to keep things fast.
  15. I have my Plex server running on my Unraid system. The ramdisk is 8g. I generally cap out at about 3 simultaneous streams, so I'm not sure how much space would be needed with more streams. As I mentioned before, my only issue with using the ramdisk was when users would pause what they were watching. Transcoding would continue and fill the ramdisk. I changed some settings a long time ago and have not seen that issue in quite a while. The only setting I remember changing is killing a session after it has been paused for a set amount of time. This is in the network settings: For anyone else running Plex on their Unraid system, I have a user script setup to create the ramdisk when the array first starts. This is the script. You'll need to make sure to update the Plex docker settings to use the ramdisk for the transcoding directory.
  16. Not this time...this is a Linux system. Must have been a power outage and fah didn't start back up properly when the power came back on.
  17. I've done this. I had an issue in the past where the ram disk would fill up. The issue was user's pausing and, I guess, transcoding continued. I fixed this by increasing the size of the ram disk and configuring Plex to kill sessions that have been paused for X minutes (15 min?). I also have a gtx1660 handling transcoding duties. It works quite well and greatly minimizes the load on the CPU.
  18. Just discovered my ETF rig has been down since May 6. It should be running again now.
  19. I notice this frequently on my Android phone using Chrome. The page auto-scrolls past the oldest unread comment and I have to scroll back up. Using Chrome in Windows, I've not noticed this issue.
