  1. OMG! last time I saw that many squirel cages was when I pulled the blower off the oil furnace.
  2. Don't know if I've posted this stuff before or not, but his writing is really under rated.
  3. Annnnd China shows more support..... Russian banks may issue cards with China's UnionPay as Visa, Mastercard cut links WWW.REUTERS.COM Credit cards issued by Russian banks using the Visa and Mastercard payment systems will stop functioning overseas after March 9...
  4. I'm sorry, but that type of stance with a person with a mindset like Putin will just let him continue to rebuild his empire to it's former glory(in his mind) see the image for the reality of HIS world.... What's he going to do about the NATO member nations that will be on his new border when he takes the Ukraine? Of course He'll have to take THEM to "secure" his border again.
  5. I think it's safe to say that any military action by a Govt. nowadays has to take Social Media into account. If they're not, then it's likely the Govt.will fail because of intel leaks,at the least. Just look at what people posting videos has done to police reform and you can imagine trying to move troops under the radar. "I need the town surrounded before the Govt. forces know..." then the Govt. sees "Woke up to walk the dog,saw all these transports driving past the house, wonder where they were going?" So much for the secret invasion.
  6. I saw this video and remembered our comments about the $2000+ motherboards so I figured I'd post it here for laughs.
  7. What HE said! lol, the 2 closest Micro Centers to me are roughly 250 miles away each. We're talking 4 hours EACH way that my wife would have to drive my epileptic azz.Unless I'mm taking her on a vacation to a nearby place where they are,I don't see it happening since she's also not in the best of health. They even closed the Best Buy in our town, now I'm limited to Walmart,Office Depot,or on line for parts.
  8. For a little comedy relief...
  9. If you like the concept of a Dyson sphere, you might like Larry Niven's Ring World series to read.
  10. I personally haven't played 2 yet but wife is and she seems to like it now that she's further into the game. At first she complained the story was dragging and it was taking too long to build up stamina.(I think the stamina thing makes it more life like) Still has some glitches in it but they seem to be working on them. She's also playing on the Xbox series S. Not sure when I'll get dying light 2 because of the increased parkour (even harder than the first games)and not such a fan of it. Edit: Wife says this review by Angry Joe pretty much sums it up (contains profanity).
  11. Ok, was just confused. Makes sense now that I know it's 2 different sites. Thanks for taking the time to clarify 4 me. (My whacked azz was trying to figure if I had some setting wrong in a browser or windows that was blocking something.lol)
  12. Sooo,to comment ,you have to put your name and email even if your already logged in? Because I'm logged in when I click on the review, but it opens with me logged out and when I click log me in it takes me back to home page .It's a circle.
  13. When opening several of the latest reviews articles they are opening in new tabs and showing as not logged in and unable to comment. When you click on the "login" button at the top it returns you to the home page. There appears to be no simple way to login from the reviews.ABP is off, and I even tried logging out and back in on the home page and retrying the reviews. Here's some screenshots of my results from home,to clicking review,to review,to after clicking login.
  14. I had ran across an article about it,then ran across it on the old OCN site and had it on my old comp for a week or 2 because I liked the idea of helping the medical field.I was quickly turned off to the idea of being part of a "team" when people kinda complained about low results from me. Now when I get in the mood,I install and run for a week or 2. No pressure and no worries.
  15. I'm really on the fence about this, just because a system CAN run an OS doesn't mean it should by any means. If a system that takes minutes to open a program or browser page gets an update that draws even MORE resources and crashes, the first thing that'll happen is the users will be screaming "The UPDATE broke my computer!" when what really happened was it finally had a stroke. The systems I have here " "are running Windows 10 and really shouldn't be.They'd be doing much better with a version of linux(I'll probably end up with mint on the notebook @ least). They DON'T qualify for Windows 11 and I can say it's a relief because if they did I'd try to run it just to see. When does a company finally say "Enough,we can't carry your old ass anymore, you need to go to the old cpu's home." (before anyone gets offended, the wife & I are both over 55. lol ) Nvidia ended support for older video cards, Now Microsoft seems to be ending support for older cpu's. I was upset at first that my i7 2600 wasn't going to be covered, but then I realized it's already over 10 years old,and will see the EOL of not 1 but 2 Operating Systems(7 that came installed, and 10 as the upgrade)so I think they gave me my money's worth for the OS on that cpu.
  16. Don't forget the 20% panic buying increase and the 15% "we can't keep it in stock so you need to be a member" increase.....
  17. I was reading through the post again and ran across this and I remembered the issues with certain AMD cpu's not being able to install windows 8.1 64bit after buying and installing the Windows 8 64 bit version because Microsoft had added the requirement for NX "Only the Socket AM2 based AMD processors (and greater) support the necessary CMPXCHG16B instruction set to allow the 64bit edition of Windows 8.1 to install and run. The older Socket 754 & Socket 939 editions of AMD CPUs can't handle 64bit Win8.1 and a 32bit version of Win8.1 would have to be used instead." Just like older Intel cpu's were shut out. So, it's not really something new, just them forcing their views on people which they have the right to do because we,as a group agree to use the software. Maybe if we feel it's being TOO dictatorial we should switch to the fair open OS of Apple?
  18. OMG! I love Catzilla! it may not be the most demanding test, but it's FUN! It actually makes watching the testing worth sitting through!
  19. here's a strange one I had sitting around, an athlon dual core on a Nvidia chipset..... the things that Dell will do to make a buck Dell Inspiron 531 This is a full size tower BTW. Edit: c'mon, anyone else remember one of my early amd used cpu purchases? A Duron cpu with 512MB of ram and a 40GB HDD. lol, those were the days!
  20. I just want to say, when I started using windows you had to search the internet for updates and apply them and hope they were legit.THEN this great thing called Windows Update web app was released and we had a source for trusted updates but we STILL had to select WHICH updates we wanted to install and had to hope the ones we chose actually applied to our system(or that we didn't skip 1 that did apply through ignorance). Eventually that evolved so that it offered all the updates that applied and we could un-select ones with issues. (my personal favorite) Now they keep everything up to the latest updates for home users, and if you want any control, you need a pro version. Maybe if more people had been a bit more careful and kept their systems up Microsoft wouldn't feel the need to play big brother and control the OS as much. We have Govt. demanding that systems be kept updated and patched, then asking the vendors what THEY are doing to prevent further exploits so that also is probably a factor in forced updates along with the fact that it's easier to only have to patch systems that are all a certain version when a new exploit is found instead of the latest and the previous 3 versions of the OS also.(such as 21H2 and the earlier releases). At the end of the day,it's going to be about cost effectiveness.
  21. actually it was partially corrected through updates. "Because Flash will no longer be supported after 2020, it is turned off by default in the new Microsoft Edge. Other browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla, and Safari are also planning on removing Adobe Flash in the same timeframe."<--- from microsoft's support page for edge, also they had the update that removed support for adobe flash from windows. "The Windows 10 “Update for Removal of Adobe Flash Player,” which permanently removes Flash as a component of the operating system, will become mandatory starting in July. Updating to Windows 10 version 21H1, expected to start rolling out this month, will also remove the software.May 4, 2021" Actually, chrome had done it long ago on android.
  22. @UltraMega, @pioneerisloud, Just to put MY 2 cents in, I had a woman who I finally refused to clean her pc for her anymore because it was the same items I was removing everytime. once there were 37 instances of the same malware. She was getting them from videos that people linked or she searched and clicked on and everytime she clicked on the vid it told her adobe flash was out of date and to click 'here" to update it so she did.THIRTY SEVEN TIMES,in just 1 week. That was After I'd told her about adobe never notifying her like that and if she was in doubt go to their site and showing her how to check. Flash installed more malware in my opinion than was installed from downloading because people could at least ck the files we downloaded. P.S. the refusal to clean again was given after the final cleaning so she at least had a running pc the last time I spoke with her.
  23. Western Digital, Kioxia Lose 'At Least' 6.5 Exabytes of 3D NAND Due to Contamination (Updated) | Tom's Hardware WWW.TOMSHARDWARE.COM Failing flash memory Glad I got my NVME drive earlier..
  24. I don't see where it's much different from when XP updated to service pack 1,2,or3. The earlier versions of XP weren't supported and didn't get updates. This is similar because the update being installed is the latest supported and EOL for the 1 it's replacing is in may.Yes,it's a little heavy handed, but we're in an era when our govt. has to be TOLD to patch their computers for issues that are being actively exploited.Sadly, not everyone can be trusted to do simple maintenance.
