  1. 3x 3090s and a 2080 on water, 4070ti on air. I got a couple WUs in on the 3080ti before I started tripping breakers. I love close races in the foldathons. If it would have been hotter this weekend I wouldn't have shot for third. I'd have just let it be a race between you and I and sprinkled on just enough extra power to beat you
  2. I actually tried adding 3... A 3080ti and two more 3090s. Tripped the breaker to the office. Power limited the cards, still tripped it again. Took the 3080ti back offline. Crazy come from behind win though considering I was on pace with Alex the day before and made up the gap in less than a day.
  3. I've been buying all sorts of random PC parts lately, but one of the things I'm more exited about is the new receiver for my home theater. A while back the main HDMI out port on my Denon receiver died. The 2nd HDMI out still works, but only had eARC on the primary which I need for my setup. I reverted back to an older receiver that lacked Atmos, DTS:X etc for the time being. Recently got a deal on a Sony STR-AN1000. I've now had it installed the past couple weekends and I've been loving it. Atmos content feels more accurate than the Denon and it also has 360 Spatial Sound which I didn't have before.
  4. Still waiting on the shirts to hit the merch store so I can order a shirt and a mug at the same time. In the meantime, I am rocking the EHW stickers that I had made up before the official merch store opened up. My Test bench at home Bonus pic of it in the dungeon * I'll also be patiently waiting the release of the EWH bikini
  5. Jan puts up a lot of content that fits his saved search criteria
  6. As always, good job everybody that participated. Special thank you to @firedfly. He has been wasting no time in his new role as Folding@home staff. The stats page he came up with worked great!
  7. I wouldn't call myself an Asus fangirl but we do have a TON of Asus products in the house and have had great luck with them. The 3D modeling rig I built for my roommate has been running a ProArt X570-Creator since we last refreshed it with the 3090s and it's run 24/7. We also have a couple of the ProArt calibrated monitors and they are really nice. Both my AM5 setups have Asus boards (the Crosshair Gene admittedly has issues with the 2.5g NIC but that's a common issue with Intel i225-v). The z790-I I just picked up works great so far. Point being, I wouldn't totally write them off. Especially the ProArt series since it's more aimed at being a no nonsense line of quality parts without the L33T G@M3R BS and ROG tax. Also, why are you so hung up on Gen 5 SSDs? Yes it's cool to flex the big numbers but in real world usage Gen 3 or 4 will be more than plenty for the next 5+ years. Hell, most people can barely tell the difference between SATA and gen3 SSDs in todays workloads. By the time having gen5 storage really matters, you will need a whole platform refresh anyways.
  8. I actually like that they still have PS/2 ports. I'm not some extreme overclocker that's disabling my USB controllers to free up that last little bit of system resources, but I do have some vintage mechanical keyboards that I still like to use occasionally.
  9. I don't know what I'm doing but I'll just crack a few cold ones and see what happens I'll wait to do any actual subs until we're all in discord so I can try to avoid bad subs that will get thrown out for me being stupid Not like that's ever happened before
  10. So a lot's changed since I last updated this. The parts that were in this case have found homes in different builds or setups, and the case is now planned for a permanent build. The case will house the 10850K and motherboard that's currently in my bedroom PC along with the Arc. Custom loop for CPU only with an external D5 and rad going to a Ncore V1 direct die block that I got from Avacado. Arc will just run the stock cooler. This PC will be used for streaming while on the test bench. (totally overkill for that, but I'll probably put a couple games on it to play while waiting on benchmarks to run). I've already setup everything with my travel PC as a stand in to test functionality. The EVGA XR1, Insta360 Link camera, and USB microscope are all sources that can be streamed. Even if I'm not streaming, I can open OBS an see what's connected to the XR1 (the test bench) so that I can work on both the test bench and streaming PC without having to switch inputs on the monitor. I have a USB switcher so I can swap one keyboard and mouse between PC.
  11. Not sure if it was safe to let me install this sexy copper block... I'm starting to feel like my Titan Black at home could use a friend for SLI...
  12. Bring it on! A few of us know a thing or two... If you've been out of it for a while you'll be impressed by the PPD some of these newer cards are putting out
  13. In fluxmaven I can do through the 20th, the 30th is pushing it
  14. There is really zero point in getting worked up over the merch. We aren't under any strict deadline here. When you have some time, make stuff. If it works out great, if not revise it till it is. Don't take it personal if people don't like everything you come up with. It's part of the process. You find out what works and doesn't work with practice. I've scrapped hundreds of designs that I though sounded cool until I started working on them and they just didn't pan out. Don't get hung up on things, just move on to the next idea.
  15. Came out nice. BOX Navies are one of my favorite switches as well.
  16. The plain gray still works the best, but your other designs are much more legible than the first versions. I tossed together a quick example with more subtle stripes. Not trying to infer that this design is any better. Just trying to highlight what I was going on about in regards to legibility. These are going to end up as what, 4x1" keytags? A good test is to view them at the actual size on your computer then back up a few feet to get a better idea of the readability in person. Either way, I'm just trying to offer other points of view or constructive criticism.
  17. You could fit a thicker rad with push/pull and a larger motherboard, but the issue then becomes pump/reservoir placement. If you didn't have any tall/long expansion cards you could put the “expansion card retainer” bracket further forward to mount a pump/res combo and it would just be suspended over the motherboard.
  18. Lol I was actually going to send you that X58 block on discord but got distracted. I picked up a few odds and ends myself.
  19. Regardless of the drama from a few years back, it's kinda sad to see another OG site closing down.
  20. Yea I really don't see any point in buying a 7900X3D at all. Regular 7900X is cheaper and doesn't turn into a 6 core when gaming. Even if most games don't use more than 6-8 threads, it's still nice having plenty to handle background tasks. All these CPU reviews doing tests with just a game running at 1080p... Would be nice to see what happens when you have a system with a more than just a game running. When I'm "just" gaming I still typically have Aquasuite, Discord, game launchers, and a web browser with several tabs open on a second screen. In addition to all the other software that runs in the back ground like Adobe CC, audio interface, F@H etc. 7800X3D is obviously a solid choice for a gaming focused build, but with the deals on non 3D parts, it almost feels hard to justify as well. The 7950X3D has potential once they adjust the pricing. At $699 it makes more sense to go 13900K for a good gaming + productivity platform.
  21. This is a good move. When I was first lured over here from OCN, dark theme was my first priority. I picked up a subscription to get it because I knew this place was full of good people and I realize that it takes money to grow a site. At the same time, I wouldn't want people to not join or stick around over something as trivial as dark mode. Thank you for your continued work to improve the site and make it more accessible to our growing member base!
