  1. A lot of things happened to OCN... Not going into all that lol Part of it is just that internet forums in general are less popular than they were a decade ago. A lot of people switched to things like Reddit and discord. Which we do have a discord server as well. As Pio pointed out a lot of us got tired of low effort content so we came here. Catch me outside how bout dat
  2. Welcome A lot of us are OCN runaways so you're bound to see a few familiar faces.
  3. I just did the ole copy image instead of actually uploading it to the site which normally works fine but I guess it wanted to be uppity tonight. Should be fixed now so you can go back to bed
  4. Back in the day I was interested in the Fury X and to see how HBM memory would work out but I did what most people did and bought the 980ti instead Got this for a good deal because it just has the block, no stock cooler (fine by me since I watercool everything anyway). Also pictured is a G3258 that I picked up in a lot of CPUs. I actually owned a pair of G3258s back in the day and had a bit of fun with them. Now that I'm more into HWBOT I wanted to play with one again for some points.
  5. I personally don't have a problem with that although I think $20 might be discouraging to a lot of people. We had a fair amount of participation from members outside the site that in turn stuck around. Asking too much might turn away people that might otherwise be interested. I have no idea what it cost to distribute and pay import duties on last years haul but for the sake of easy math let's say we need $500 to cover it. At $20 you would need 25 people to pay to play At $10 it's 50 people At $5 it jumps up to 100. So saying we had around 75 people last year, that makes me think $10 is the sweet spot. Not everyone that participates is interested in prizes. And of those interested, many would be on the fence about an entry fee at all. $10 or less is pocket change. Above that I think you'll start scaring people off. I wasn't aware that we incurred so much expense getting the prizes out last time. Regardless of what we end up setting it to, I'm willing to chip in a little extra if we come up short so it's not all falling on your shoulders.
  6. I'm cool with the preposed changes. I wouldn't want to go longer than 5 days though. Not many people have dedicated folding farms. I definitely couldn't tie up all my hardware for something like 10 days. Obviously nobody is forcing anyone to run all their hardware the whole event, but it's fun to be able to throw it all on the line. I just think it would be a bigger ask to extend that too much further. 5 days seems like a good middle ground of tolerable abuse
  7. Still haven't had any issues with my CX. I'm at 2190 power on hours currently. I always turn it off when I'm not using it. For stuff like Folding@Home I keep the LG off and just access the computer from one of my other PCs via RDP.
  8. Thanks guys, I was actually just joking around with about using goofy personas for the interviews to mix thinks up. He said go for it, so I did I'd like the PSU a lot more if it just went up to SFX-L with a bigger fan like all the competition. The case is actually on the larger side by most people's small form factor standards. It's definitely a good way to test the waters of SFF without committing to some ultra tiny case that makes you want to pull your hair out. My little sister will love it. I can tell she's never really cared for the black non-windowed Fractal Define Nano S her current system is in. Since Cooler Master didn't have the pink version, I'm just going to vinyl wrap parts of this case for a bit of a custom touch then fill it with RGB
  9. As fun as it is to give you an early lead then run you down at end, it was only a matter of time before it didn't work out. Now that it's starting to cool down, I won't have to power limit the cards so expect to see a bit different outcome next time Either way, I had fun as always. I know I wasn't the only person with technical difficulties this month. Hopefully everyone can get their rigs firing on all cylinders by next time.
  10. Just made it back from being out of town all week for work. Time to get some rigs fired up!
  11. I surprisingly didn't have too bad of internet when I lived on an island in North Carolina. Other parts of the OBX were pretty bad though. Now I've been spoiled by Gig fiber long enough I don't think I could go back to a slower connection. Actually considering adding a second connection from a different provider since Ubiquiti added Dual WAN load balancing to the UDM Pro.
  12. +1 Miata is always the answer I also owned an R53 Cooper S and it was a fun car, but harder to work on. Also, maybe it was because I just couldn't stop giving it the beans to hear the supercharger, but it got terrible fuel economy for such a small car. By comparison I can absolutely flog my 1.8 Miata all day and it always gets better than the Mini did and doesn't require premium. It's a touch less practical, but I think it's more fun to drive.
  13. I've owned the Mustang for just over a week now so obviously it's time to start modifying it. I already bought an HKS super sequential BOV, just needed an intercooler pipe with the correct flange to mount it. Eventually I'll also replace the stock hotside intercooler pipe as well as upgrade the lntercooler itself to a much larger unit.
  14. Looking good man. I know if I were doing all that the results would be much more catastrophic Also... I can't see diamond plate without thinking of the danger to manifold scene from F&F https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxAAwrr7lH0Q3-s7enRRf1jwxzn8ZV51G9?si=NDp2XYT0YEEtB0d8
  15. Took a little trip over to the new Microcenter in Indianapolis. So far I'm really liking the Mustang.
  16. Just sub it. Having more subs matters more than good subs. If someone posts something better it will just replace the weaker scores. Fun fact, the clockspeed limit was 5005 initially and my sub was thrown out for being 5007. Was able to resubmit it after they raised the limit. My strategy was to just run through and just knock out a bunch of subs early to get points on the board. If I have time later, I'll circle back and get better scores.
  17. They love making things confusing. They released Titan X Pascal, then the the 1080ti which performed almost exactly the same... Few months later the slightly more better Titan Xp comes along The only noticable physically change is that the Xp dropped the DVI port. Pretty common to see eBay listings labeled incorrectly for them. Titan Black vs OG is also mislabeled a lot. They use the same cooler but the word Titan is black and the fins in the cooler are black as well.
  18. This is around what I typically see them for. Titan - $50-80 Titan Black - $50-100 Titan Z - $250+ Titan X (Maxwell) - $75-150 Titan X (Pascal)- $185-225 Titan Xp - $195-250 Titan V - $500+ Titan RTX $750+ I recently got an original Titan with a Accelero for $40 shipped (was untested and marked for parts) and a Titan Xp (that was mis-listed as a Maxwell card) for $93 shipped.
  19. Yea the heat definitely puts a damper on things. I did follow your lead and implemented some power limiting to keep the heat down. Only ran one of the 3090s and had it at 50% most of the time. It retains about 2/3 of the PPD even using half the power. I saw things were pretty close, so I did turn it up towards the end to beat @neurotix and just barely managed to hold the lead. Looks like we had a couple other close battles this month as well. Overall not a bad turnout for a summer Foldathon, I'll be looking forward to the next one!
