Rig Creator - How to Re-order multiple rigs?
Fluxmaven replied to Sir Beregond's topic in Site Suggestions
Unrelated to the thread, but just wanted to comment on the fact that we had very similar upgrade paths lol. My old main system was a 4790k + 980ti with an SSD + HDDs and now have a 5900X + 3090 with all SSD storage. Even use an OLED for a monitor! Basically, you have good taste in computer components fine sir. -
Yup... Used to just be able to do a lil strange for some change to afford a new GPU. Now you gotta be a full time onlyfans model on top of a day job to keep up with the latest tech. On a more serious note, I am glad to see them pushing more VRAM. Helps keep cards relevant for much longer. I still have a Titan Black that I was actively using up until a year ago. The 780ti with only 3GB became a paperweight much sooner.

This looks like fun. I'm in the process of rebuilding my racing sim, but once I get it going I'd be down for a drive.

+1 for TrueNAS. Tried it for the first time recently and really like it. -

Sure, I wouldn't mind helping out. Having projects with deadlines would motivate me to not leave my personal projects half finished since I'd need to keep the workbench tidy. That said, I don't have a dedicated test PC and all of mine have custom loops. So I might not have the quickest turn around if I need to pull a build apart to swap components. -

I'm also completely self taught on working on cars. I initially started doing my own maintenance because it was cheaper. Now I do it because I know if I do it, it's done to a standard I'm happy with.

What you have probably is some variation of Tygon if you bought it from US Plastics. You just had some really thin wall stuff. Here's some pics of my B I G CHUNGUS 1/2x3/4" Tygon Norprene. It just says Norprene on the tubing itself, but it is Tygon A-60-G. The name is similar but Norprene ≠ Neoprene.

4K & 1440p gaming - Select CPU and GPU generations
Fluxmaven replied to J7SC_Orion's topic in PC Gaming
I moved up to a 4K monitor for productivity reasons when I transitioned to working from home when Covid hit. A good friend had 4x 1080p displays in a grid and it was awesome but I thought to myself, why not just get a single large 4k display and have essentially the same thing without the bezels. Picked up an Asus 43" Strix and loved it. Not long after I finally saw an OLED in person and had to have it. Picked up a CX48 that I still use currently. I think the 43" was better size for a PC monitor so I'll probably pick up the new C2 42" OLED and move the CX to my bedroom. With a 5900x and a 3090, I don't have any issue running games in full res, but since I sit relatively close, I often run games in a custom ultrawide resolution to make it a bit more manageable. -
Recently built a racing sim setup and have been playing a lot of Assetto Corsa and Forza Horizon 5.

I'm also the "I know a guy" IT person. It rarely ends up being a good thing lol. I hate working on old consumer spec junk. Especially laptops. I also don't like sifting through old slow hard drives (assuming they even work). Whereas If someone showed up with an old custom rig in a TJ07 I'd be chomping at the bit to go over every inch of it and get it fired up. -
I used to rotate constantly because I was upgrading and flipping boards a lot. I actually prefer clicky boards but have settled on mostly using tactile boards as to not disturb the people I'm around. I recently changed careers and went from an IT sysadmin with a private office to being an AV engineer that's mostly out in the field. I have the Clueboard in my cube for the rare times when I'm actually in the office. In my shared home office I have been using the Kara, and in my bedroom I'm using the Realforce.

Yea I don't bother setting foot in the stores. All the cool deals I find are on their website shopgoodwill.com.

Found something a bit unusual at Goodwill. A new in the box CoolIT Freezone Elite. Still has the factory thermal paste on the coldplate! I'll do a separate thread for it once I figure out what I'm going to try and cool with it.

Thanks for taking the time to add everything. There are a few boards I would like to get at some point but I've scaled back on the hobby as a whole in the past couple years. There was a point where I was browsing r/mechmarket daily. Used to buy a lot of botched boards to fix and flip. Usually just bad soldering sometimes got lucky and people just didn't know how to flash firmware.

It's an original TrackMan Marble from 95. Works great but it feels like a cheap toy compared to my CST (Clearly Superior Technologies) L-Trac Glow.

I try not to think about how many keyboards I have lol. I'll list a few of them RAMA Kara - Glorious Pandas - GMK Laser Custom 60% with brass plate and NPKC resin case - BOX Royal - KAT Specimen Custom 60% with KPrepublic 3layer case - Gateron Green - EnjoyPBT Sushi Anne Pro - Lubed Gateron Browns - Stock keycaps and a couple cheap artisans Daisy 40% meme build... - IIRC it's Gat housings, Cherry blue stems, 150g springs - random blanks I had in my spare parts drawer. Clueboard - 67g Zealios- SA Pulse Affirmative branded Unicomp Model M 122 key - Buckling springs- Stock caps *Miata for scale. (also yikes I forgot how tall it was before coilovers) Realforce 87u - 55g uniform Topre - mostly stock with 8 bit alphas and purple marble caps... Don't remember the brand. Also have a GMMK TKL that I used for testing switches, another custom board with BOX Navies (clickiest board I own), and a few different 60% cases and keycap sets that I swap between as well as a few mech numpads and macro pads.

If you value your freedom, money, and sanity...

I have been around my fair share of livestock. Pigs were by far the worst. If I ever move back out in the country I'd just have a couple laying hens and call it a day. Good luck with Mr. Waddles. Hopefully your daughter doesn't lose interest too quickly and have him end up as your pet. -
Interested in how a 360 rad would slip in there. I've always liked the look of the old HP Z series workstations.
-
^ you only run them at 100%? Gotta overclock those bad boys I agree that once you go Aquacomputer, you can't go back. You could completely uninstall Aquasuite after you configure the controller if you wanted to. Once the controller is flashed, it will run autonomously indefinitely. It's awesome for non PC projects or external radiators where you just add power and it does it's thing.
-
I can justify them because all of my builds have custom loops. Flow sensor input and the ability to base fan speed off of liquid temp is nice.
