  1. call me petty, but I'd make it my life mission to make them as miserable as I could without committing any serious crimes. And if that didn't work, I'd get some 3rd party to commit the crimes.
  2. Quick check of the inventory spreadsheet shows 35 GPUs in the house... And that's assuming I haven't missed any If only the majority of them weren't old stuff for HWBOT comps. I'd love to have some more RTX 4XXX cards for folding
  3. I'm just using them to store my benching cards. I'm tired of every flat surface in the office being covered in hardware
  4. Down to the last few hours. I decided to spin up a few extra cards to torment my long-term rival @neurotix. Sorry bud I couldn't help myself That comes at the cost of the office being a bit warm while I'm in here building my rack mount GPU storage shelf. I only have 20 of these risers currently but the rails are 3' deep so I can squeeze 3 or 4 shelves worth in here.
  5. I'd love to go back down to a 42". The 48 is just a bit too much for how close I sit. I don't use mine for anything other than the PC so I'd like to get away from a TV. Turning it on and off manually is only a minor inconvenience, but if I'm gonna spend more money, I'd like to get exactly what I want. I haven't come across a 42" glossy OLED monitor yet. They always put some sort of BS Matte coating on the monitor versions of all the big OLED displays. That being said. I still love my CX and it's been going strong for a few years now with no issues. At work currently so I can't check but the last time I looked a couple months ago I was just shy of 2300 power on hours. Still no burn in. Haven't needed to or at least haven't been prompted to do a pixel clean. *Just checked and she's at 2481 power on hours.
  6. I think when I bought my Datavac they were around $70. I just borrowed the one from work for years until I switched jobs and had to buy my own For just dusting off PCs these new battery powered ones probably work great. I also use my Datavac for blowing coolant out of custom loops and I kinda doubt the little battery powered ones have the same grunt as the 500w Datavac for that niche use case.
  7. Finally got around to fixing the one thing I hated about this car which was lack of Android Auto. Normally I'd get an aftermarket unit. Newer cars use the display for a bunch of other stuff like climate control so it was simpler to stick with an OEM option. The parts for the conversion came out to $584 which is reasonable to me considering the quality of life upgrade. While I was in there I upgraded the center speaker to an Infinity reference 3.5". I have a couple more of these to put in the upper door location. It got dark before I got to those. Once those are in I'll decide if I need to do the tweeters, lower doors, and rears.
  8. Yes, they have been mailed out. I did wait an extra week for people to reply (still only heard back from about half the people). I dropped them in the outgoing mail box last Sunday night with the exception of Memmento Mori's. I took off work a bit early Monday to make it into the post office to get that one shipped out since it was going international. They are all just going snail mail USPS so who knows where any of them are at this point.
  9. While this is neat, getting fiber to more areas seems like a better investment than making it way faster for a few people. The real crime in most residential internet is the abysmal upload speeds. Even the lowest tier from my fiber provider is 400/400. I'd take that over 1000/20. I have a symmetrical gigabit connection at home and don't have any need for anything else. We could go up to 2gig but it was nearly double the cost last we checked. My entire home network is 2.5Gb but that's just so all the machines can talk to the NAS faster. I don't really need to talk to the outside world any faster. If I were to upgrade the network further, I'd get a separate line from a different ISP to do dual WAN. The UDM Pro can support failover and they recently added load balancing as well.
  10. With mechanical keyboard stuff if you get the parts within a year of ordering it, I call that a win lol. It's a niche hobby run by small shops. On top of that, look at a calendar. This is the busiest time of year for shipping things. As far as buckling springs go... If you want to try those, buy a Unicomp. Don't care what you've heard or remember from back in the day. A brand new Unicomp will be much nicer than some clapped out old board. If you managed to find a unicorn new old stock model M that's been hiding in a climate controlled storage for a couple decades, it would set you back more than buying a whole stack of fresh Unicomps would. This is coming from someone who actually owns a Unicomp. I have typed on an IBM model M, but never side by side. I was also a child back when I last had access to an original.
  11. You can always just pick up a cheap board that's hot swappable and pick up whatever switches you want to try. If you hate them, just swap to something else without having to buy a whole new keyboard. Microcenter has a full aisle of keyboard switches, keycaps, etc in addition to all the keyboards they sell. I am probably going to pick up some of these Panda switches. I have the Glorious Pandas in one of my boards and they are great. Curious to see how he Redragon ones compare. microcenter.com WWW.MICROCENTER.COM
  12. I have so many rads laying around that I just toss em in the closet. I'll blitz and flush them when/if I ever use them again. I've cleaned and dried, or left filled and capped but I always end up cleaning them again before reusing anyway.
  13. I am thankfully not going anywhere for Christmas. At the point where 4 of the water cooled rigs in the house need to come apart for upgrades and/or maintenance so I just need to force myself to rip everything apart and take care of it. I may need to cheat and rent some cards if I don't get those rigs back online, but I'll fold on something
  14. Sometimes you need those little victories to keep going. I've never been one for under hood bling, but if it's a functional upgrade I'm all for it. I hate working on brakes... I have had new pads, rotors, lines etc for the Miata for over a year now putting off upgrading. After redoing the whole braking system on my clapped out E30 I just lost all interest in the car. It's that time of year where all the motorcycles I want are cheap enough I'd actually buy them. So I have had a little bit of urge to finish up the E30 so I can sell it and get the garage space back
  15. Browns are just scratchy reds... Barely tactile. I do have a board with lubed Gateron Browns that's super smooth and quiet that feels nice, but it's too light for me. I'd agree that Gateron versions of all the common switches are better than the legit Cherry counterparts. I like heavy tactile and/or clicky switches. My favorite boards to type on currently have Glorious Pandas, BOX Royal, BOX Navy, and Topre. It's fun to bust out the old Model M with buckling springs from time to time as well. There is a point where you get too much of a good thing lol. I have a meme board with 150G springs in some Gateron Greens
  16. MX Reds are the most disgusting thing I've ever touched. I have not used that site before. Looks fine though.
  17. I wasn't really happy with the stock shift knob in the mustang. It's just too small and I don't like the two tone metal and leather. I was going to buy a white Bullitt knob from Ford performance but $145 was a bit steep for a shift knob. Comparing to the $400 dark horse titanium knobs it almost seems justifiable... Then I saw that AmericanMuscle had these Speedform knobs on sale for $25. I love it. It's just a little bit larger which fits my hands better. The pattern is engraved so it won't wear off like the cheapo eBay knobs that are just printed on. Saved a bunch of money that can go towards other upgrades. My Sync 3 upgrade also showed up. Now I just need a warm weekend to install it along with the new door speakers I've had sitting in the corner for a month
  18. I've always disliked linear switches. I recently tried some newer options and results are in... They still suck
  19. Howdy, I have the stickers ready to go. I will try to get them packed up and ready to mail out this weekend if I hear back from all the winners. These are just a reprint of the ones I gave away last year. Last time I had two sizes. This time I just did the smaller size since that's what most people preferred.
  20. Thanks. I actually forgot I ordered the colored mods Went to check my emails for the order info and came across this gem from a week ago So yay another delayed group buy. Still not as bad as the RAMA Kara seq 2 stuff I ordered 2 years ago that are just now scheduled ETA of May. This type of BS is why I drifted away from building mechs. Pay hundreds of dollars to wait forever for stuff. Especially nowadays where I can buy boards off the shelf that have most of the unique features or form factors that used to be exclusive to custom boards.
  21. All switches have 2 signal pins. The 3 pin and 5 pin is referring to the physical pins that stabilize the switch. So in a 3 pin it just has the center stabilizer pin. On a 5 pin it adds two additional stabilizing pins. In the past I've used flush cutters to snip off the extra pins to make a 5 pin switch fit a board that only supported 3 pin.
  22. So I just switched a few rigs back over to EHW from LTT. Was checking the stats and realized I finally hit a few milestones. top 1k, and over 3 billion points. After our event I plan to swap back to LTT to finish out their month of folding challenge. Then I'll be back to EHW full time. It's wild to think about how much more PPD newer hardware puts out and how much more points the WUs are worth. The measly 500k I folded with no team was over a decade ago just doing on idle CPU folding and I don't remember how long I did that but it was probably over a year to hit that. Comparing LTT vs OCN it's interesting because in just a couple weeks I well surpassed over a year of participating in the monthly foldathons at OCN. So I just came home for a few hours between flights to pet my kitties, do a load of laundry, and take a quick nap before getting on another plane. I've got a couple rigs folding but I won't be around to do any last second shenanigans slapping extra rigs together to slip by anybody at the end this month. Good luck, have fun. Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels for those that applies to.
