  1. What's your status as far as getting an ETF rig back up? I can run an additional client on either a GTX 750 or HD 7850 for December if needed until you come back online. @Supercrumpet
  2. Yeah you can fold 24 hours for me in the next foldathon. Seriously I didn't even know about this event but I won a prize On a positive note, summer is finally over here so I haven't had to run my air conditioning more than a few days this month. It's been nice with the windows open so I will probably compete in the next foldathon for sure.
  3. Joe and I go way back to beginning of high school, then we went into the Naval Nuclear Power Program together. He's since become a mechanical engineer who has worked with all kinds of cool stuff like boilers and weather instruments. I built him a modest folding rig last week and we set it up a couple days ago. I got him one of the ringer cards for ETF, another cheap FirePro W2100 from ebay. I put the same firmware on it that I'm using but we had to turn it down until his new cooler arrives. That flimsy aluminum stock cooler couldn't cool my nut sack. We're looking to form a new ETF team on January 1st if all goes right, team 1D10T5. Welcome to the forums Joe! And welcome to learning some new things. This forum has the old masters, the grey beards that taught me most of what I know about overclocking over the last decade, and now more recently folding.
  4. I found my 3rd member. He's new to folding but I've been explaining it for a few months and he has the ability to do this 24/7. Michele also came up with our team name: 1D10T5 We'd like to start on Jan 1.
  5. @BWG @firedfly @Supercrumpet Michele and I would like to start our own ETF team on January 1st. We had a great time folding for your teams and we learned a lot. This gives you a month or so to find our replacements. We also need 1 more member for our new team and I'm looking. I think we all will enjoy having 1 more team for ETF. Also thinking of a team name
  6. Michele's ETF rig is down for the rest of the weekend. I'll have it back up ASAP. We're swapping some hardware around since I got my main back up.
  7. Ok well I finally got my 500 passes for the FirePro W2100. Shall I unleash the Kraken?
  8. Rated 60% myself. Thanks for doing this sponsorship! Shellback...so you guys Navy vets too? I actually got to cross at the equator/IDL intersection before on the way back from deployment once. Edit: entered your raffle. I really like your T-shirt design. You should sell those. I want one.
  9. Oh yeah things are good. She gets back in town tomorrow thank goodness. 1 week in Miami to go image a bunch of laptops.
  10. @firedfly @BWG I'm having to use my test benches for, well...testing purposes, so due to some slot availability issues I am having to move Michele over to the GT 730. This will be temporary but could be for a few weeks. I just installed her card, overclocked it, and started crunching. Michele is busy working (more like vacation) out of town in Miami for Airbus so I'm posting and doing this for her.
  11. That was actually my test project before I start screwing around with Michele's ETF card's BIOS. She said if I could mod that $20 ebay card then I can mod her $75 ebay card.
  12. I know I'm guessing it won't be eligible for a while since it took forever to get the first hundred or so samples.
  13. That's very nice! Remember that shitty OEM Radeon 350 "Oland" I was messing around with back in April? It was doing like 1400MHz overclock. I found a variant of one that only runs at 680MHz stock clock for $20 on ebay a couple weeks ago...just in time to ruin the holidays
  14. It's possible. I'm going to start testing an old Firepro soon. It's locked down in BIOS and driver level for overclocking, but someone at Igor's Labs unlocked one recently so I'm going to try the same. If successful I'll need to feed the LARS database. If not, well it was $20 and works as a display adapter
  15. ETF rigs back in service running at full bore.
  16. you play guitar? I see one in the back there lol
  17. Should have Michele's and my ETF folding rigs back up and running by end of day tomorrow. I had to rob Peter to pay Paul to build my buddy a workstation so parts got shuffled around like crazy over the last few days, but things are almost finished getting put back together. The really good news is that I am selling my buddy a whole bunch of hardware at a a good profit and he is more than happy about that. @Supercrumpet @firedfly
  18. That is part of what I am about to do. I need to swap a few motherboards and processors first though. Some things just don't play nice together. I'll probably do the flashing tonight or tomorrow. I need to have one test rig open to feed LARS some stock W2100 numbers, assuming it folds at all. Then I also need to see if I can unlock overclocking with some BIOS tweaking via some stuff I read on Igor's labs. Someone there did it. On top of that, I am building a workstation for one of my buddies to do his 3D animation and AutoCAD stuff. And once my dual D5 comes back from PPCs I need to rebuild my main rig loop.
  19. I need to stop folding for a day or so until I re-configure some hardware with my test benches. Hopefully I won't be down too long.
  20. Maybe Saturday morning. I sent you 2 files on discord.
  21. That's a monster. You inspired me to order a cheap firepro. Supposed to be firmware locked to overclocking but I'm going to try anyway. I'm thinking 80-100% OC will be possible if I can crack it. Also your BIOS mods might help Michele's GTX 750 which has a similar issue where it doesn't like to use it's full TDP and just sips along at 30W instead of using the full 75 or whatever. I really have no idea how to use those tools. The last Nvidia firmware mod I did was over a decade ago to morph an 8800GT into a Quadro FX 1700.
  22. Well apparently I had the wrong passkey in my rig for almost a week... I've been swapping hardware around a lot between 4 rigs though. I had my main go down last week and just got it operational again at the expense of cannibalizing other rigs. I still have a lot of work to do but hopefully I am pulling ETF points now.

Part 4. AIDA64 Extreme Yeah it failed AIDA, but to be fair it was hot in my computer room today, over 80F. But on the other hand it's been hotter than that and my air coolers passed that test at the same settings. The fans and pump were set to performance mode. I'll test again tomorrow at full speed and we'll see if it can pass AIDA64 for 10 minutes. I know 10 minutes is brutal for an aluminum rad AIO but we need to know for science. Edit, update: Ok so the next morning I turned on my supplemental air conditioning to get the room cooled down a bit. I also went into the BIOS and cranked all the fan headers up to 100%. AIDA passed. I let it go for 15 minutes. Temperature spiked to 73C but settled at 67C. I think it would be even cooler if I had used the thermal grease instead of this graphite pad. There is a PRO version that is an updated model with improved water block and a more dense radiator, and that one probably cools a bit better. That version was reviewed here at EXTREMEHW. Summary: The good: - Some nice looking high performance fans included - Very easy mounting mechanism The bad: - Cooling price/performance compared to much cheaper air coolers The ugly: - That rat's nest of cables for you to deal with
