Hey all, What's the best way to test OC'ed GPU memory? I'm pretty confident in my limits with core clock on my 4090. However, I have the memory at 12110MHz effective which is +1650 in Afterburner. Stock is like 10500. I know it can do more as I've folded with the memory at 12210, but I'm unsure the easiest/fastest way to find the limits of my card's memory. Any advice appreciated and thanks in advance.

Help Picking A Router (500 Mbps Connection)
neurotix replied to VoidTheWarranty's topic in Networking General
True enough. You can choose how involved to get with it. Additionally, just turning on Ai Protection from Trend Micro and going through that list on it's page (where it's red or green depending on if a vulnerability is present or not) and doing everything it recommends like turning Upnp off, etc. Is probably enough for most users/regular people. -
Help Picking A Router (500 Mbps Connection)

Another +1 for ASUSWRT-Merlin. I used these for years but you need some fairly advanced networking and even Linux knowledge (for example, to ssh to the router to manage or install scripts). On Windows you can use Putty to do it. I would recommend it highly for it's security, and also recommend the script Skynet Lite, which blocks APTs as well as other malicious/nosey trackers or companies like Virgin. You can also use it to set up Encrypted DNS lookups (forget the proper term) to prevent DNS hijacking or man-in-the-middle attacks. You usually also get Ai Protection from Trend Micro you can turn on which basically blocks users ftom accessing malicious sites. However, the caviat to this is you must choose a model that supports it, there's a learning curve, and a lot of changes you make in the routers configuration either take a long time of loading to do or require a full reboot so configuring them involves a lot of waiting. Personally, I got fed up with it being so slow and having to be a network administrator and update the thing constantly and sometimes reconfigure scripts in the process. So, in the complete opposite of my past paranoia and overkill Asus config, we just went out and bought a Google Wifi. We currently have 4 of them. It covers our whole house and its pretty dang secure, it is nice that it updates itself with security updates, and I can manage it from my phone but it's basically a set-it-and-forget-it solution. It's pricey but not having to change settings and wait 5 minutes for an AC-5300 to reboot makes it worth it. TL;DR: ASUSWRT-Merlin is great but for advanced users. I used to use it but got sick of updating it constantly so went with Google Wifi. It works great and is fast and pretty secure. -

Probably right on the large scale attack thing, and I agree with you about the change being a likely outcome. One can only hope. -

Can we just press the button already? Our AEGIS missile defense can shoot down anything they retaliate with. As well as other systems we don't even know about. Nothing against the Russian people but man, they really need "regime change". -
Top one is what I'm happy with. A recent BIOS update caused me to have 1ns+ lower latency so I'm pretty happy about that. 2nd one is just to show speed and timings. This is Samsung B-Die, and rated at 6000MHz 36-36-36-96, but I'm running it at 6200MHz 30-36-36-36 with 1.435v. Thrilled with it, and passed stressapptest in Linux for over 3 hours. Not had a crash or reboot or anything yet. I tried 6400MHz but it was a no-go. It's a shame Ryzen memory clocks are a lot lower, but compared to my 5900x and B-Die this is pretty outstanding and definitely a big performance bump.

So I've been messing with my machine, and I have PBO turned on, but the max boost clock of my processor is 5650MHz which before today, I had not seen. The highest I'd seen was 5450MHz. This is with PBO Enabled, Scalar of 10x and +200 clock speed. What I realized is that my voltage on auto, which gives the chip around 1.049v idle according to the bios and 1.3v under load (roughly) so I added a positive voltage offset of +0.025, which caused a slight boost in clocks, and I hit 5500. So I added more voltage first trying +0.050 and then seeing it hit 5650MHz on core 8. I added more and settled on 0.075v and have seen cores 7 and 8 hit 5650MHz. I tested this in 3dmark Vantage Extreme, and with no added voltage I did 130k, with 0.050v I did 132k, and with 0.075v I did 134k. I didn't see it hit more than 5525MHz on my Afterburner OSD, but it could have been reaching it's max boost speed and Afterburner just didn't show it. I also had the system in "Ryzen High Performance" power preset as opposed to "Ryzen Balanced", which focuses the scheduler to park cores in the 2nd faster CCD for better performance from the V-Cache CCD. I'm pretty happy. I also did these: /img/logo.png neurotix`s Cinebench - R20 score: 10440 cb with a Ryzen 9 7900X3D HWBOT.ORG The Ryzen 9 7900X3D @ 5093.2MHzscores getScoreFormatted in the Cinebench - R20 benchmark. neurotixranks #64 worldwide and #2 in... /img/logo.png neurotix`s Cinebench - R23 Multi Core with BenchMate score: 27185 cb with a Ryzen 9 7900X3D HWBOT.ORG The Ryzen 9 7900X3D @ 5148.1MHzscores getScoreFormatted in the Cinebench - R23 Multi Core with BenchMate benchmark...

Dolphin 5.0 CPU benchmark download If that doesn't work, try here and scroll down a little bit to the Google Drive link and instructions. What is it? Dolphin is a Wii emulator, this is an automated ray-tracing benchmark that runs in the Dolphin emulator. A real Wii takes about 18 minutes to finish. Modern CPUs take a lot less time. But basically, this benchmark is a good way to determine how well emulators will run on your machine. Download the 7z file, extract it, go into the newly created folder and double click "Run Benchmark.bat" to start the emulation. Then, simply wait for it to finish and it will tell you the total time taken at the bottom in seconds and minutes:seconds. Here's my results (3:17): Anyone else want to try?

This is just ridiculous and probably the worst example of price gouging on Newegg I've ever seen. Newegg hasn't been the same since they were bought by some Chinese company, gouging galore especially when GPU prices were higher and bitcoin was the reason (2019 or so)

So as you can see, wife didn't listen and while cleaning and remounting the water block she thought it would be a good idea to go over the Corsair logo on the radiator with alcohol pads and now it's not Corsair, it's Corsaip Ordered a new unit, I think this one is defective anyway because of the temps being so much higher than my GPU is while folding. Also some more kryonaut extreme, which we put on the other day and compared to PK-3 Nano it lowered temps by 4c folding and 10c in Cinebench r23.

Zen 4 IMC voltages help + DRAM power delivery help
neurotix replied to neurotix's topic in AMD General
Talking about Cpu Vddio and when I Google it I get nothing saying what it should be stock. Also, here is the DRAM voltage switching and current capability and the max settings for them, though I'm leaving them on Auto for now. Also stupid question but I figured I'd ask this too: is my SP rating good? -
Hey all, First question. My Asus ROG Strix X670-E Gaming board is giving the CPU memory controller 1.465v on Auto. My memclk is at 3100 because my RAM is at 6200MHz. I can provide bios screenshots with my phone, if need be. I find this voltage to be ridiculous and am wondering if it can be lowered and to what voltage keeping in mind my really great memory OC and that it's stable right now, so I would need to rerun stress tests and also if lowering the voltage results in lower scores in AIDA64 I will put it back on Auto. Second question: In the Advanced DRAM overclocking menu at the bottom of my bios there are two settings currently on Auto that I am interested in. One is the DRAM switching frequency in Hz (I assume) and the other is the power limit the RAM can draw in Amps. Should I max these out and see if I get better bench scores in AIDA64? These previously used to be in the Digi+VRM section on ROG boards, but they're not on this board/bios, they usually were at the bottom of the Digi+ menu but instead they are moved to the bottom of the advanced dram settings. Any help/advice appreciated and thanks in advance.

Oh, only bad part of this build: POST takes like 45 seconds and it trains the memory for about 30 seconds with a "15" post code and yellow led lit. Yeah, they really need to fix that. Flux has a 7700x and ROG board and also complained about this issue. Since I sometimes reboot between Windows and Linux, mostly to set my LED lighting in Windows, this really sucks.
-
I might do it except for my severe pain issues preventing it. There's also the issue of sourcing parts, if you say bought a "for parts or not working" motherboard or graphics card and repaired them or something like that, you might be able to make better profit. I enjoy building pcs but am really unable to because of pain. My recent upgrades, my wife mostly installed. I put in the M.2 drive, cpu and ram on the new board, and mounted the water block, but she did everything else.
-
Nice, too bad the profit margin isn't higher or I'd consider doing it myself.

I did, I had the Asus ROG Crosshair X670-E Hero that was like $650 but then we returned it because it had HUGE overkill VRM heatsinks as well as M.2 heatsinks, even my current H150i probably wouldn't fit with how big the heatsinks were, and the M.2 heatsinks might have made it really hard to get my very large GPU out. So we returned it and got our money back. Otherwise, there's still $129 for the RAM on a credit card that needs to be paid, but after this pay period our savings balance will be made up for and then some, so it's all done and paid for now and we replenished what we spent. I have the Asus ROG Strix X670-E Gaming and it's pretty great, got full Digi+VRM control, and the Asus boards have a glitch with tREFI that if you set that timing (they call it "Refresh Interval" in the BIOS) to 65535 it vastly improves memory bandwidth and latency. It's cool having 90GB/sec read, 93GB/sec write, and 82GB/sec copy with 60.6ns latency, the last bios update I just did last week lowered my latency by quite a bit (over 1ns).

Sounds great, especially if it's for your son. Hope it remains stable when he's using it.

Here's my build log for the house's main rig, Ai Crystal. Usually kept on 24/7. Primary use case scenario: Linux file server Secondary use case scenarios, in order of importance: - Folding rig (it costs around $40 a month to fold 24/7, and I had no clue when I got my 4090 how good it would be at folding) - Graphic design rig using GIMP, which I can do while folding and having the file server online IF I turn my GPU OC off - Benching rig in Windows for HWBOT - Gaming rig, waiting on expansions for Forza Horizon 5 No pictures of the process here, but you can see the original build process for my rig here: Just a moment...
