Nice bit of work you are doing.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks @doyll 😄
It has been a lot of fun so far, and much more to come!

A Corsair AX1600i should be on the way to me instead of the Super Flower/EVGA PSU I was trying to get. I'm maxing out one of the PSU's already, and that's something I don't like.

The drawings are on their way to the company that'll do the laser cutting, I can't wait to get the parts and start welding (or let one of the more experienced coworkers do that for me).

And after putting a sleeve on a few cables I'm a bit sad that most of the cables are already black, I somehow enjoy doing that stuff..

This one needed a sleeve anyways, the heatshrink will have to wait until I install it in the PSU box.

Well, this system is still being used, adjusted from time to time and waiting for the PSU box. My brother in law was at a birthday a few days ago and mentioned it himself, so I hope he'll start working on it soon 😄

There are a few updates, and I'll show what it looks like at the moment:

First of all, this is what the system looks like right now (the desk light really helps at night):
20211010_101904.thumb.jpg.1ada1d8121a8da7354953cfe63a855e3.jpg20211010_101938.thumb.jpg.c1f4955c6f815679bcbbd9b1ef113111.jpg

The GPU's, from left to right: 3060, 3070Ti, 2080Super, 3080Ti. Soon the air cooled 3090 will join them:
20211010_102009.thumb.jpg.61abfc7561c530856d5125243bfef509.jpg

A new power strip, the cable from the old one was a bit warm with 5 GPU's pulling close to 2kWh.. (I thought I cleaned up the cables, but it still looks like a "rat's nest" 😂)

20211010_102039.thumb.jpg.d13ce3ea8715fbcd5eda2e08b5f96ef1.jpg

An extra fan with a DimasTech FlexFan 140 mount to blow some air on the motherboard:

20211010_102055.thumb.jpg.07ac0712d9b322820b956ec6f68e6f21.jpg

New caster wheels, the old ones are plastic and smaller diameter which makes it hard to roll the system:

20211010_103128.thumb.jpg.616d10b923f0d38b4aea2306ca733858.jpg

I'm thinking about making a diamond plate between the bottom profiles so it has some sort of storage, maybe the sides and back too which will give it more of a cabinet look. The bottom is easy, the plate will rest on the caster wheel mounting plates. The sides and back will be a bit harder to attach. If the aluminium diamond plate is sandblasted it'll look almost the same as the profiles.
That's it for now, the system is running great *knocks on wood* and has been a workhorse as far as folding, benchmarking/overclocking and testing/switching hardware goes.

Looking good, was waiting for an update on this one. I imagine the casters make life easier.

Thanks, progress is a bit slow though (same as all my builds actually 😂).
The casters are really easy, I like to move the system out of the way if I'm cleaning the room and it makes it easy to work on the system too.

...re. casters, 100% agreement ! ...I've learned it is best to have my custom builds (some close to 100 pounds w/ temperate glass) and all related peripherals on wheels. Apart from the weight, none of these are regular 'boxes' and tricky to pick up re. their irregular shape and sensitive components on the back.

yeah, it's so easy to move it around! Even outside the room, I can just move the system to the living room if I want and it only has one power plug to get it all up and running.

And a small update, a coworker was working on some floors for an engine room so he cut a 100x40cm diamond plate for me. It saved me some trouble and I offered to help him with his slow laptop in return.
I sandblasted a little test piece which looked pretty good, so I did the whole plate.
It looks pretty good imo, just needs some support in the middle before I put weight on it.

Daylight picture, still bad quality. (I need a better camera..)

After waiting for a long time because 'reasons' this box is finally here.
So I taped together all the parts to get an idea of how it'll look before welding it together.
I have all the panels in steel and aluminium, though I don't have the tools to weld the aluminium myself so I think I'll go with steel.

Steel will be better to drill and tap holes in the top panel for mounting the waterpumps for the dual loops, and a bit more weight won't be an issue with the upgraded caster wheels.

Four mounting holes for some bolts to go into the frame rails, will be a bit hard to mount but I don't think I need to move it that often.

Three holes for cables, I'll order some grommets from a local hardware store (holes are cut to fit one of their grommets):

A power button between the two PSU's, of which one will be for the water loops and the second PSU will be for the system:

20220423_104005res.thumb.jpg.da98c4f0365cc0ac8201b2c76936d023.jpg

The PSU fans can breathe through the holes on the bottom:

And this is what the system looks like for now, not much folding going on but a lot of benchmarking instead:

There is a lot to do, some of you might have seen the watercooling hardware I bought recently. That'll go into this system too, but I'm not done figuring out where to put it.. 😄

I can do both, but I prefer Mig if I can.
As for the aluminium I can go to another shop we have and use their Tig setup, but besides the fact that I need a few hours of practice it's also not my 'own' shop so I don't like to do that.
We'll see, one of my coworkers offered to do the alu too which is nice but I prefer to do it myself one day.

Let me say first that to date I haven't used it, but are you familiar with the newish MIG aluminum welding options? I think it tends to be a flux cored aluminum wire? I have no idea if it works worth a 💩 though 🤷‍♂️.
