Annoying cards?

By themselves they were great, when I tried Crossfire, I really did not enjoy the experience trying that on my HD 5770's.

When Skyrim came out, I bought a GTX 670 to replace them, but that 2GB wasn't enough for the mods...That was annoying and I regretted not grabbed a 7950 instead.

I had some G92's that caught on fire with a driver update.  Whole fleet of the stupid things, think there was like 8 of them that fried in my house.  That count?  Ironically my eVGA 8800GTS 512 KO that was in my main rig at the time was the only one that lived.  Kind of a whiskey tango foxtrot there, but that was years ago.

Had several cards recently come broken, DOA, shipped in freaking bags without packing......but nothing manufacturer's fault lately.

everybody has heard my EVGA What The Flock story.

pair of G92 9800GTX+ cards in SLI. less than 2 weeks old, i unknowingly got a bad nvidia driver. went to pul lthe card to do maintenance and they were melted into the PCI-E lanes on the motherboard and were burning hot to the touch. sent EVGA pictures and video of it.

warranty denied. driver is user error. i called bs on that because nobody was notified about a bad driver until a few weeks later, then it mysteriously disappeared from nvidias website.

now everyone knows why im so sour with EVGA/nvidia. i was a teenager flipping burgers and delivering papers to build a pc, they took my money and laughed in my face.

I remember those drivers back then, killed a lot of cards.

I would have to argue about the "by themselves they were great" part. My second new comp purchase was my Dell XPS 8300 with the i7 2600,8Gb ram,1.5Tb hdd,and I upgraded to include the 5770. What a mistake. I got better results in the old 3d mark test of the time with a nvidia gt730 than I did with the hd5770. It's why I bought my GTX970 instead of going with a higher version of an amd card at the time. The 5770 did video's great, but games sucked.

5770's were fine as a $150 card in 2009....They were better than the more expensive GTX 260 (the original 192 core one) and performance roughly matched up to the 4870 of the previous gen.

This was years before a GT 730 and GTX 970 existed...Weird comparison.

I had mine in 2009 and it was a great $150 card at that time.

lol,I might have been turned off from it because dell offered the 5750 stock,or upgraded to the 5770 for a hundred more or one of the nvidia cards for close to 300 more. This was in 2012.🙄

Sounds like a Dell move. Shocking to be using such a card in 2012 in new machines.
