Add to our videos section.

Hey guys, 

 

This is a feature that we added a good while ago and I know it is a little "Hidden" unless you are looking at the NAV bar, so I wanted to bring attention to it as I have not mentioned it recently. If you know of useful video content that can be added to that section, feel free to get adding and turn it into another great resource for all concerned. If you have any suggestion regarding that section or categories, feel free to let me know!

Just delidded my 12900kf 2 nights ago, I thought to make a video but was too tired. I'll try to remember to make a few more when we do projects

So it has to appear as a banner form and you cannot put it in the sidebar, so the options are above the thread, which is where I have just placed it, or at the bottom of the thread. Top is better as you actually see it, but happy to see if bottom works better.

On the thread pages? Can it not be on the main forum page under the latest threads/new posts/reviews and podcasts section? You have the banner on top for articles, then the main list of threads, then the video banner could under that. It would be like a banner sandwich with the banners as the bread and the thread lists as the meat. 

 

Also is it only gonna be EHW videos or would it work to have thumbnails from user submitted videos as well?

Any chance you can include embedded videos from Youtube or others?  Curious because I made those couple of review videos for my amplifier, but uploaded them to YT.  However they were pretty much strictly just for here since I'm not a youtuber lol.  I just uploaded there because its easy and familiar.

 

Also, I think UltraMega pointed this out maybe above?  But the videos do kind of get in the way when looking at forum pages.  It's nice to see that they're there, but when I'm reading about the CPUz competition, or one of the news articles or something, they're kind of in the way.  I didn't know we HAD a videos section here till today, so again....it is nice to see we have that option here at least!

The theme manager by default only allows to banner type widgets at the top of the homepage, which are the carousel and the latest threads block. I am going to speak with my developer to see if we can put in another spacing there to have it on the homepage.  I would likely have these towards the bottom of threads though moving forward, and have these on the homepage.

Yes, definitely if the videos are staying on most pages, at the bottom is less intrusive.  It also gives somebody a neat place to go next if they're done reading a thread.

Awesome. 

 

I did also up the video upload limit to 200mb. It was previously only 10mb. This obviously has no bearing on videos linked externally.

I have now added these to the homepage. Note that I did have it on carousel mode, but it was kind off irritating. So I have left it set to Gridview and on random. So it updates with a random list of videos anytime you refresh the page.
