After several months, Seagate has officially revealed its intentions to launch the next-gen HDD in the middle of 2023. This announcement comes after months of advertising the development of its second-generation HDD platform that will showcase the latest heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) technology and offer memory capacities of over 30 TB.

On the up and up with HDD sizes. When I recently re-did my storage, I was pleasantly surprised by the costs. Yes still a few quid BUT the amount of storage per £ you can get these days is great. For HDD's that is. 

 

However flash storage is also becoming more affordable in increasing sizes.

Meanwhile am just using a single 8tb drive for my file. Got an extra one stored with a backup.

 

It like 50% full.  I still got work to do at least my Plex server running now 😀

This reminds me that I should really setup a NAS at some point. I opted for all SSD storage in my new rig, but its still 2TB short of what I had internal on my last one (5TB vs 7.5TB).
